Pokemon Alternate Universe Adventures

A man from an Earth gets the choice to start over in any Universe and chooses an Alternate Pokemon Universe. Let us see if his journey to the top is succesful and the impact he will have on his new world. Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures Inc. I just use their sandbox for the plot of my MC and my OCs. This will be a "slow" paced story, in fact it's "super slow paced", so please don't expect the MC to directly start his journey in 20 chapters or so, actually multiply that by like 15. A lot is going to happen before that happens. The first 10-20 chapters or so are information heavy, depending on what kind of reader you are. I try to keep my chapter length between 2000 and 3000 words per chapter. My release rate is 4 chapter/week for now. I have a patre*n for those that want to support me with access to some advance chapters as a thank you. patre*n.com/Azrail93 This is an alternate pokemon universe so there will be differences to the games, manga and anime. So if something in the story is different it is most likely on purpose. The original sources are seen as suggestions not laws. Differences can be: Type variants, evolution conditions, strength mechanics, world building and more. If I am at some point asking for reader input I will do so but otherwise I will ignore most suggestions. So please don't spam things like catch this pokemon or do that next. I have my plot planned and external input will be considered when asked for. If I see a suggestion that I believe fit my plot flow I will use it and will credit the commentor. Comments on spelling and grammar mistakes are welcome. I will try to correct said mistakes with time. Constructive criticism will be read and considered. Insult and hate comments will be ignored or deleted depending on severity. Readers naturally can comment their dislike but one worders will be ignored. If the reason for the dislike is explained I will read it. Like previously mentioned pure insults and hate comments will be ignored or deleted. The same is true for simple hate reviews or insulting ones. Reviews complaining about something I warned about, such as the slow pace, will be deleted as well.

Anyway, let's leave Rose aside and get back to my Pokemon. My water types should be next, and I think I'll leave the whole Gyarados group for last and go over the others first.

Since I mentioned her during the whole reminiscing thing with Rose, let's start with Manami. Manami had already been close to becoming sapient when I caught her, since Lapras generally gained sapience around (mid) bronze, which she was at that time.

So, it was no surprise when she did gain sapience just a few days after I caught my Feebas. We talked about names since I wanted to know if she wanted one and she said yes.

After going to some options she decided that she liked the sound of Manami which could mean either "love/beauty" or "love/sea" which all fit her.

Anyway, she managed to break through to the silver stage roughly 20 months ago, a bit more than 3 years later, and like the others, she began at the (mid) silver stage. Since then she had succeeded in raising all her parameters once, actually reaching the (high) silver stage.

Well, except for vitality that one already started with a B-value thanks to the limit-breaking and we decided to focus on the rest first. Naturally, our bond improved to "strong" as well.

It happened a month or two after she reached the silver stage, which led to the first of many boosts to my water resistance. Oh, and I also got some ice resistance.

Also, thanks to the potential bonus of her breakthrough and the roughly 17% increase from my supplements gave her over the years her potential improved to deep blue with less than 17% missing for an upgrade to light purple.

Manami has been doing resistance training as well. All my Pokemon did sometime after they reached the bronze stage. She began after our electric addition joined us roughly 3 years ago.

Unfortunately, she was not done yet, but we were seeing some obvious progress, so in a year or so at the latest she should be done, hopefully.

Now, let's talk about her masteries and moves.

Her mastery over both her water energy and ice energy had improved to proficient thanks to the moves she trained in during this time. Additionally, I was pretty sure that her water mastery was not too far off from improving once more this time to advanced.

Her water mastery had also been the one to reach proficient first, which made sense since she had already mastered Water Gun by the time I had caught her, and while ice had caught up mastery-wise, she had, after all, focused more on the water than on the ice, so it made sense for it to improve once more.

Concerning her moves, we first finished learning Rain Dance since that move was like extremely useful in combination with her ability and talent. Hydration healed her from all status conditions, and Rain Absorb healed her consistently a little for as long as she was under the rain.

Interestingly, increasing her mastery over Rain Dance didn't only improve the speed at which she could make it rain and prolong the duration of the move, but it also somehow increased the amount Rain Absorb healed by a little for each grade it rose.

Anyway, making sure she was proficient with Rain Dance, we trained it a bit more since it was so useful, we looked through all of her "old" moves and chose to focus only on Ice Beam as well as Water Pulse.

We began with Ice Beam and raised it to proficient mastery before changing to Water Pulse and raising it to advanced mastery. After that, we focused on Rain Dance again and improved it to advanced mastery as well, before doing the same to Ice Beam.

Once we were satisfied with the old ones we focused on learning new moves and Rest was on top of that list to exploit her Hydration ability. We first trained it up to beginner mastery before focusing on other moves but returned to it from time to time until it reached advanced mastery.

Now, many would think why would you bother doing that if she woke up nearly instantly anyway due to Hydration. Well, two reasons. The first one is that increasing the mastery of Rest improved the amount of damage healed and this is pretty neat, it also restored stamina.

Yes, I know what I just said there, using Rest did not heal the user completely. That would have been completely broken in the real world, like being about to die due to injuries but completely recovering just by using heal.

Anyway, it increased the amount of recovery, also it wasn't a percentage as far as I could determine, none of the healing moves seemed to heal a certain percentage, and it further decreased the amount of time it took the user to wake up.

That one was useful and important in case someone dissipated the rain to keep her sleeping. Ahem, after she stopped with Rest the first time we chose Hydro Pump as her next move and that one was pretty easy for her to learn and improve due to having mastered Water Gun.

She kinda became proficient with it in roughly a month before she stopped to learn another move, but she returned to it from time to time until it reached advanced mastery just like she did with Rest.

The next one she learned was Blizzard and that one she learned under Rain Dance since it was easier to turn the rain into a blizzard than it was to produce one without it.

She obviously referenced Ice Beam and first learned how to cool down a wide area turning the rain into pseudo-hail that happened as long as she channeled the cold.

From there she went about turning the pseudo-hail into a Blizzard before creating one without rain. She even learned Hail during this time, but it was ignored since it was pretty useless for her.

This way of training even led to Blizzard jumping straight to beginner mastery once she officially had it down. After that, we went straight to Sheer Cold and trained it until it reached beginner mastery.

We stopped there since it became obvious that it was not as great as we thought it would be, at least not until it was mastered. Oh, don't get me wrong it was a strong move, but it took a "long" time to use which is why its hit rate was low.

It also really only worked on weaker foes for now since the stronger the Pokemon was the longer it took to freeze. For now only (low) bronze stage Pokemon could be flash frozen but I was sure that would increase even by just getting stronger.

Maybe we'll come back to it sometime. Anyway, after Sheer Cold, she learned Shock Wave, Psychic, and Thunderbolt in that order. She first learned Shock Wave with the help of her resistance training buddy so that she could shock others in a wide range.

Rain Dance was pretty useful in that regard since it gave it a little strength and range boost since both were products of her own energy. We actually kept at it until she was proficient with it before she started on Psychic.

For that one, she got help from yours truly and Horus. She briefly stopped after raising it to beginner mastery before she learned Thunderbolt referencing Shock Wave and asking her buddy whenever necessary.

Once that one reached beginner mastery as well she swapped between Psychic and Thunderbolt until she was proficient with both. That happened not too long ago and she was currently working on learning Thunder.

Not only was it pretty strong but it was also pretty accurate under the rain. Furthermore, we had noticed that learning so many electric moves had helped her a bit with her resistance training. That was pretty much it on Minami, so let's go over Kun next.

Now, the situation with Kun became somewhat of a surprise, because I had not expected to find out about an alternate evolution for Remoraid and I loved it. It was also overall much better than Octillery.

I mean it looked/was a flying fish, but at least it stuck to being a fish. That it was stronger than Octillery was just a bonus. Yep, it had higher agility, I looked it up inside my space after finding out of its existence, and it had a BS (or racial value) of 520 compared to Octillery due to +40 on its speed/agility stat.

With it being a flying-fish look alike, it kinda made sense for it to be fast, the rest of its parameter values were identical to Octillery. So, after we learned out about the existence of his alternate evolution we decided to not evolve until he could evolve into that one instead.

That was why he was still a Remoraid despite being about to reach the silver stage but more on that in a moment. He broke through to the bronze stage roughly 2.5 years ago and began at the (mid) bronze stage like many before him.

Shortly after his breakthrough, we came across a really small group of Pokemon during one of my periodic exploration trips to the sea. There were only 4 of them and I/we had never seen members of the species before.

They kinda resembled a Remoraid but looked better. I mean they had wings, resembled flying fish really. I wanted to check them, but since they were a bit outside my range we had to move towards them.

However, our lineup seemed to have startled them, because they took off without looking back and they were fast. I didn't want to run after them on my own, and that would have been the only way to keep up with them.

The reason for that was that I had decided to not approach an unknown group of Pokemon without at least some support. At least while I was at the coast or the sea. So, I always had at least my Lapras and or Gyarados accompany me. My experience had taught me that much.

While they would be unable to help much in case we met some like BOSS Milotic or Lapras, they could at least help me resist for a few precious moments I would need to put all of us inside Utopia.

I had trained that part intensely until I managed to make sure taking a group of my Pokemon was just as fast as entering on my own. Mind you, that was only possible due to the bond. I couldn't do the same with others.

Anyway, since I was suspicious about its relation to Remoraid I looked into my super-library. There was a lot of knowledge on Remoraid, but nothing on its evolution at least at first look. Not even on Octillery.

Well, I dug a bit deeper and found mentions on Octillery. Just its existence and that Remoraid simply needed to get stronger to evolve into it. I had to look through nearly everything at least title-wise to find something.

Mind you that took hours, which was why I was not really aware of a lot of stuff that was inside the library because it was so vast that it would take centuries just going over the titles of everything.

Anyway, I found a mention of a pretty rare alternate evolution and after that, I found the folder/section on that one.

All I could access without having one was its name, that Remoraid needed at least a weak flying affinity to evolve into it and that a huge amount of flying energy was needed to trigger its evolution. Oh, and that it was "stronger" than Octillery.

Before that, I had occasionally given him some things that helped increase his flying affinity, but after that, I really focused on doing so. We succeeded about two months ago with that and his affinity went from budding to weak.

Anyway, I told Kun as much and he decided that he wanted to become one. I later researched if it was known in general, but apparently, it was really rare because of the flying-affinity requirement. So, it was mostly unknown outside certain circles.

Sometime after that, he became sapient and we settled with Kun-Peng for his name. I most of the time called him Kun since that was shorter. Anyway, mentioned him being a bit short of breaking to the silver stage and it was true.

Now, one might wonder why Osiris had reached the silver stage despite starting roughly equal in strength. Well, Remoraid had a lower racial value than Marowak, which together with his lower potential meant that he was a bit slower than Osiris.

Still, once he raised his vitality, endurance, and energy density from SS to SSS, he could breakthrough. It should take him roughly only 8 more months.

Obviously, our bond was still "weak" since he had yet to reach the silver stage. However, the bonus from his limit-breaking and my supplements had raised his potential from light blue to blue with only 14% missing to deep blue.

His resistance training was not complete as well, and he naturally was training his electric resistance. Now, once more only the mastery and moves were left.

Water Gun'

Kun had raised his mastery over his water energy to proficient, mostly due to the training he did on his water moves. He obviously finished mastering Water Gun first, before he went to Lapras for some help with learning Ice Beam.

Once he became proficient with Ice Beam, he switched between Look-On and Bullet Seed or rather kinda trained them simultaneously until he became proficient with them.

After that, he learned Hydro Pump which thanks to a mastered Water Gun went pretty fast. Ahh, that one was really useful. Anyway, he became proficient with it pretty fast, so he switched to learning Scald at that point.

With the help from my Gyarados and his mastered Water Gun he successfully got it down and became proficient at a decent speed. It actually went a bit slower than with Hydro Pump, but that was because having to add heat was harder.

Once he did that he began switching between Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, and Scald until he raised all three to advanced mastery. Surprisingly or not Hydro Pump was the first one that did so and Scald took the longest.

He learned Endure with the help of the others and his resistance training was the one solely responsible for raising it to proficiency. After that, he learned Soak but raised it only until beginner before moving on to Charge Beam.

His resistance buddy helped with that one and his resistance training probably helped a bit as well. Once he learned it, we decided to improve Soak since the two made a good combination.

Soak effect had only a certain duration that decreased the stronger the target was, but it was useful nonetheless, so he brought up both to proficiency as well.

After that Kun began working on Thunder Wave until roughly two months ago shortly after the failed attempt at buying Hyper Beam. I knew Remoraid had it in their natural move pool but learning it took a lot of time and improving it a lot more.

Still, once Thunder Wave reached beginner mastery Kun began learning Hyper Beam, and once he managed to raise it to proficiency he could try to teach it to the others.

However, that was still far off since he had yet to succeed in learning it, and I don't think he will succeed in the next month or two either, but one could hope.
