Chapter 62: Limits of Spandex

Spandam was shaking in fear. "Who was that?"

Kai let his emotionless mask fade as anger, bloodlust and joy danced in his eyes. Kai walked over to Robin and undid her cuffs. He smiled like a maniac under his mask and turned to Spandam.

"They were just the nobodies that I have connections with! Just like you said earlier, remember? It was only marine hero Garp, Admiral Aokiji, and Fleet admiral Sengoku! I have a few more friends I can call on! Do you wanna know who?"

Spandam frantically shook his head as he started to walk backwards unsteadily. Kai kept his sadistic smile on his face the whole time.

"Where are you going Mr. Leader of CP9? I'm just a measly commander in the marines! You wouldn't happen to be, I don't know, scared~?" Kai said as he took a step towards Spandam causing him to fall on his butt in fear.

Kai turned to Robin and asked. "You first?"

Robin giggled and nodded as a huge smile formed on her face. "What was it you said about Ohara?" She asked as she crossed her arms.

"Seis fleur." Hands grew all over Spandams body and held him in place as one arm slapped his face back and forth dozens of times.

After a while of this Spandam's face was all red and swollen. He tried to say something but his mouth was so swollen you couldn't understand a thing.

"Mmf, mmmmmfffhhh!" Robin smiled at this and turned to Kai.

"You can go now, just don't kill him."

Kai's sadistic smile was still plastered on his face as he nodded at Robin's words.

Kai started walking towards Spandam. With each step, black lighting with a blue outline danced around his feet as the pressure emitting from him grew larger and larger. Just when Spandam was about to faint from the haoshoku haki a fist hit him in the stomach. The pain jolted him awake again and his eyes widened in shock.

Kai stopped emitting haoshoku to make sure Spandam didn't faint. He lit a cigarette and said in a voice that was full of both anger and joy. The anger was obviously from the man in front of him. The joy, however, was from the anticipation of what he was about to do to this man.

Kai was about to say something when his den den mushi rang, obviously a call from Sengoku. Kai ignored it and tossed the den den mushi to Robin without even looking.

"So. Spandam. What were you saying about Robin? Do you think I'd let you talk to her like that in front of me?" He asked as he took a drag of his cigarette.

Spandam was shocked, and asked. "W-why do you even care?"

Kai smiled and squatted in front of Spandam so they were facing eye to eye.

"I don't like it when people talk to my girlfriend like that." He said as he grabbed Spandam's right hand with one of his own, and his wrist with the other.

Spandam's eyes shot open wide when he heard Kai's words. "G-girlfriend?" He asked. Kai nodded as he started to pull apart with Spandam's two arms.

"AGGHH! STOP! STOP! YOU'LL RIP IT OFF!!" Spandam yelled out in pain as he could feel his hand slowly being ripped off of his wrist, which only caused Kai's smile to grow.

"That's the point~. I can't have you touching Robin with these filthy things now can I? Remember when you were talking about her being your slave before?" Kai said as he finally ripped Spandam's hand off with his own bare hands.

"GAHHHH" Spandam roared in pain again.

Kai giggled like a maniac. "Next one~. C'mon give me the other hand~."

He said in a joyful tone. Spandam hurriedly moved backwards while still on his butt shaking his head fearfully.

"N-NO!"

Kai stopped for a moment and put a hand to his chin. Then he facepalmed and smiled. "You're right! How could I forget~?"

Kai walked back up to Spandam and held out his handless wrist which was still bleeding.

"Robin DID ask me to keep you alive after all." Kai said as he pushed his cigarette into the bleeding arm and used the wind to grow the flame rapidly.

Spandam's whole wrist caught fire. It spread quickly and threatened to dance up his arm, burning him alive, but Kai didn't let that happen.

"AAHHHH!! STOP! PLEASE!!" Spandam screamed in pain.

Kai only smiled as he cauterized Spandam's wound. After a minute or two of searing pain and ear piercing screeches the wound was completely sealed and Kai nodded at his work.

"Good." He put out the rest of the flames with a large gust of wind.

"How was that? Fun, isn't it~!" Kai happily asked Spandam.

Spandam did everything he could to appease the man in front of him, he swallowed the screams he wished so desperately to let out and forced a smile.

"S-s-so m-much fun." Spandam barely croaked out.

"Wahaha! I knew you would understand, Spandex!" Kai happily laughed.

"Ha ha. Y-yeah."

Kai patted Spandam on the back like he was an old friend.

"I'm really glad you get it Spandex, I bet your also excited for round 2~!"

"W-what? I t-think I heard you wrong. Haha."

Kai smiled. "No you didn't."

Then he grabbed Spandam's other hand. His devilish smile still plastered on his face as he started to weakly pull apart.

"Ready~? One, two… THREE!" Kai pretended to pull really hard.

Spandam shut his eyes in fear. "AHHH!"

After a few seconds Spandam opened one eye. "What happened?"

"I got you!" Kai said as if he just played an innocent prank on a friend.

"O-oh, Y-yeah you did. Haha. Good o-one."

"Wahahaha!! Awww~. Are you scared~? Hehehehe~" Kai giggled like a maniac and looked at Spandam.

"I-i really though you w-were gonna do it. haha. G-good thing it was a jo-"

Kai pulled Spandam's hand right off of his wrist without warning cutting him off in the process.

"WAAHHHH!!"

Another roar of pain came from Spandam.

Kai looked down, pretending to be disappointed. "Awww, my hands slipped~. Sorry! Wahaha!"

Spandam didn't respond with words but rather continued wailing out in pain. Kai just kept smiled as he pulled out his lighter.

"Alright. Just like last time~." He said as he held up his lighter to Spandam's severed hand and grew the flames.

Constant cries of pain resounded as the wound was slowly and agonizingly burned shut. After a little while Kai sent another gust of wind to blow out the fire so it wouldn't kill Spandam. Who currently had constant tears running down his face as he looked up at Kai with eyes that pleaded for this to end.

Kai had no intention of letting him off easy. He walked up to Spandam again and grabbed him by the throat.

"Hmmm... I don't like when people copy my style, Spandex. You need to get some original ideas." Kai said as he used his other hand to rip off Spandam's mask. Revealing his pitiful face to the world.

Kai turned to face Robin and said. "It's your turn. I might accidentally end up killing him if I keep going."

Robin nodded and smiled with her eyes closed. She slowly walked towards Spandam. "You said something about 'using me like a toy', I believe. Unfortunately I already have a partner. So I'm going to have to decline. However, just in case you want any other 'toys' in the future, I think i need to take proper precautions now."

She grabbed Spandam in a certain area which caused his eyes to shoot open. He violently shook his head.

"No, please! No!"

Robin's smile turned sadistic as she crossed her arms. "Clutch."

Spandam roared in agony as his manhood was crushed by the very woman he was threatening to use it on.

"AAAHHHH!!!"

His tears continued to flow down his scarred face which was now visible. Kai and Robin both had huge smiles on their faces while watching the sight. Kai released Spandam whose body fell limp on the ground like a rag doll.

Kai saw this and said. "That's no good~. It looks like you're having a little trouble standing. Allow me to help!"

He picked something up before slowly walking over to Spandam. He picked Spandam up and held him against a wall. He lifted his arms above his head and stabbed his sword through both of Spandam's wrists and into the wall behind them. Holding him up as if he was crucified. Kai then held out the thing he picked up, which was Spandam's sword.

He aligned it with Spandam's left shoulder and slowly pushed. Causing it to stab right through his arm as it entered in his armpit then excited out the top of his shoulder. It went right through his joint.

"YAHH! STOOOP!!" Spandam yelled as the sword passed through him.

Kai just slowly removed it and stepped to Spandam's other side.

"I just can't stand it when something isn't symmetrical~." Kai said as he placed the tip of Spandam's sword on the same spot of his other arm.

Spandam looked at Kai with horror filled eyes.

"You know what I mean?" Kai asked as he pushed the sword through his other arm and once again Spandam roared out in pain.

Kai took a step back as he left the sword lodged in Spandams arm.

"Something isn't right." He said as he stroked his chin in thought.

Robin walked up to him and said with a smile on her face. "Didn't you say you like symmetrical things?"

Kai clapped his hands. "That's it!"

He turned to Robin and smiled sweetly. He gave her a quick kiss.

"You're the best." He said, with a blood stained mask and clothes.

Robin heard this and felt a warm sensation in her chest. Even during all of this Kai was still very sweet to her. Robin felt really happy at the moment, she was finally free from her past and had a future to look forward to. Robin smiled sweetly at Kai. She didn't have any blood on her, which caused her to look like a saint.

Kai froze for a moment. "What kind of devil looks like a saint? That smile is way too damn cute." He muttered and Robin giggled at his remark.

Kai smiled genuinely happily before he turned back towards Spandam. He walked up to him and looked at his face intensely. Then he took Spandam's sword out of his shoulder and slowly pointed it towards his face.

"Don't move. I want to get this just… perfect~!"

Kai said cheerfully as he started cutting Spandam's face to make sure that it would be symmetrical on both sides when it healed. Not that it would ever have the chance to heal.

As Spandam's face was receiving constant 'adjustments' to make it perfectly symmetrical Kai had a brilliant idea. Kai finished working on Spandam's face before he walked up to Robin and whispered something. Robin nodded in agreement and Kai smiled.

Kai walked up to Spandam and removed his sword from the wall and his wrists. Kai flicked the blood off of his own sword and sheathed it. Kai held Spandam up a little bit higher. Just high enough so that his feet were about half an inch from touching the ground when stretched out, almost like he was floating. Once he found the perfect height he held Spandam in place with one arm and made a new hole in his wrists as he crucified Spandam with his own elephant sword this time.

Kai took a step back slowly with his arms slightly raised and ready to catch something as if he was building a lego tower and just added on a piece that might make the whole thing tumble over. He watched as Spandam stayed in the air just barely hovering over the ground for a moment and finally relaxed when he was confident he wouldn't fall or anything.

Kai walked away from Spandam and came back a few seconds later carrying something in his hands.

"This is one of the mines you didn't use yet in your trap! I think it's a little poetic, don't you? Dying by your own bomb? But don't worry, I'll give you one chance."

Spandam's eyes shot open. "W-w-w-what chance?" He said in a tired and raspy voice.

Kai smiled like a child. "I wanna play a little game. I put this little thing under your feet and you try not to touch it! Simple right?"

Spandam nodded as a new hope was lit in his eyes.

Kai continued. "I bet that you won't last 15 minutes. Which means that if you do, you win the game! I promise that if you win the game I will let you down and won't let anyone else hurt you, nor will I hurt you, until the marines come to arrest you. In other words, you're gonna bet your own life! Exhilarating isn't it?"

Spandam nodded, trying to appease Kai who just looked at him. "We can always go back to what we were doing before if you would prefer that. I know a lot of torture methods actually. I know how to make someone bleed just enough that they won't die, while making them feel as much pain as possible. So, do you wanna play?"

Spandam nodded frantically. "I'll play! I'll play!"

Kai smiled. "Great! Try your best! And most importantly... make sure you have fun!!" Kai said as he placed the mine under Spandam and activated it.

"Time starts… Now!" Kai said as he started a timer and set it in front of Spandam who had his legs raised off of the ground above the mine.

After a minute of watching Spandam struggle a small wind blade which was invisible to the naked eye flew by Spandam and left a small incision on his chest. Spandam felt a slight pain as a 1 inch long shallow cut appeared on him. It was just like a paper cut but slightly deeper and more painful. It started bleeding instantly. He was now bleeding from 6 places. The new very small wound on his chest, both of his armpits and shoulders, his groin and finally the two holes through his wrists form Kai's sword.

Spandam looked around confused as he still kept holding his legs up off of the ground. Suddenly another small cut appeared on him, identical to the last one. Only, this one appeared on his right thigh. Then after a few more seconds, another appeared on his left calf.

"What's happening!? You can't hurt me! That's cheating!" Spandam yelled.

Kai pulled out a book that said in very sloppy and messy writing. 'Rulez fur Game' Kai flipped through a few pages and shook his head.

"No, right here, section 29, paragraph 3. Any incidents that may occur originating from nature are fair game, and no punishment shall be given to either team as luck is a part of every game you play. These incidents may include, tsunami, volcanos, earthquakes, sinkholes, storms, tornadoes, hurricanes and any other naturally occurring disasters."

Kai looked up at Spandam. "Sorry Spandex, but it says right here in the rule book that it's fine."

Spandam grit his teeth and another small cut appeared on his body. "Bullshit! This isn't natural!"

Kai looked at him and tilted his head. "What about air isn't natural?"

Spandam shouted. "It's a devil fruit! Someone must be using one!"

Kai looked up at him before looking back to his book. "Section 1, paragraph 48. Any devil fruit abilities are allowed, this is a part of the luck of the people playing the game, and luck is a part of any game. If this rule is harmful in any way to any players named Spandex, then suck it. You are a murderous, rapist, piece of shit who deserves to die. It would actually be doing the world a favour if you would just fuck off and die, you waste of oxygen."

Kai then held up the book to Spandam's face so he could see too. "See, that's what the rulebook says. Too bad for you. I was totally~ cheering for you!" Kai said before he walked away laughing.

Spandam had the hope in his eyes shattered. He started to weep loudly.

"Please! Spare me! I'll never do anything to Nico Robin again! I swear, just please don't kill me!" He pleaded for his life desperately.

Which caused Robin to have her eyebrow twitch. After everything this guy has done and that he tried to do to her. He wanted mercy? From her and Kai?

Robin looked at Kai and saw that his eyes burned with anger and hatred. She realized just how angry Kai was at Spandam and how he hated him nearly as much if not as much as she did. Seeing this showed her that he had approximately a 0% chance of surviving this.

Robin laughed. "Nishishishi! Didn't you know Spandam? Kai has never lost a bet in his life, and he unfortunately just bet that you would die."

Spandam's eyes showed many varying emotions but they didn't stay long enough to tell what they were. Only one emotion, fear, showed as he realized that Robin had just said Kai's real name.

"Please? I swear I'll forget everything! I won't tell anyone your name! I won't say a thing!" He tried to plead again as a few more small cuts appeared on his body.

Kai put a hand on his chin. "Hmmm. What to do~?"

He looked Spandam dead in the eyes and had an evil smile grace his lips.

"No."

Spandam felt like the world around him collapsed at this one word. All hope he had of living seemed to disappear with a single word. Kai looked into Spandam's eyes and laughed when he saw the hope inside them fully disappear.

"Wahahaha! Just kidding~. I swear that if you last all 15 minutes, I will let you go! I'm not that much of an asshole, plus I always keep my promises." Kai said joyfully.

Spandam's eyes shot open once more. "Really?"

He asked earnestly and Kai nodded. "100% I pinky swear."

Kai was about to hold out his pinky for Spandam to take before he realized two things. One, Spandam wouldn't know what that was and two, he didn't have any pinkies left.

Spandam was confused about what a pinky swear was but nonetheless had his eyes burn with the passion to survive once more. It had already been nearly 5 minutes since the start. He was doing pretty well so far and he felt like he could definitely do it.

However, the moment the timer hit 5 minutes the frequency of the wind blades started to double. Spandam hardly noticed as he was so focused on staying alive at the moment. He was also in agonizing pain that was constantly growing as he had already received around 200 cuts in the last 5 minutes.

Spandam continued to struggle on for another five minutes. The only sounds were the constant grunts of pain he let out as he bit down on his lip to keep any screams from escaping. At 10 minutes the wind blade jumped up in frequency again. It doubled again. Spandam started to fade in and out of consciousness as he had lost too much blood. At this point it didn't matter weather won the game or not as he would certainly die of blood loss. However, Kai would never tell Spandam this, he wanted him to struggle to the end.

At this point Spandam had over 600 small cuts on his body and he was losing blood quickly. Kai waited for a while and after another 2.5 minutes Kai smiled. 1000 little cuts had accumulated on Spandams body as he was currently on the verge of passing out. Only still awake due to sheer will to live at this point. Spandam roared out in defiance as his body threatened to pass out.

"NO, I CAN'T PASS OUT NOW! I'M SO CLOSE! I'M GONNA LIVE!!!!"

Kai waited for him to finish his little outburst and said. "Wanna hear a secret, Spandex? I'm not gonna let you down. I never was. Not after 15 minutes, not after 30 minutes, not after an hour. Never. You're gonna die hanging from your own sword. You trash."

Spandam's eyes broke into tears. "No! You promised! You pinky swore!" He said as his last shred of hope was once again dangled in front of him.

"I won't fall for it! You said the same thing last time!"

Kai smiled at his answer and simply said. "I lied. Besides you don't have any pinkies anyway, remember?" Kai pointed at Spandam's two stubs and laughed.

He stomped on the timer and crushed it as it showed 12:49. Spandam's eyes widened in horror before they settled into an empty look. They were devoid of anything other than pure hatred.

Spandam looked at Kai with his eyes full of hatred.

"You bastard."

He practically spat in rage.

Kai took off his mask and smiled. He pulled down on one eyelid and spat out his tongue before he put his mask back on and turned around walking away. Spandam had the hatred in his eyes fade as it was replaced by a new emotion, despair. Despair that he had no chances left, that he was doomed to die. The moment his eyes reflected this his feet fell to the ground.

They fell to the ground and landed on the mine.

The moment they touched the mine nothing happened.

'Nothing happened.' Spandam thought in shock. He tried to touch his feet to mine again and nothing happened. Hope returned to his eye and he smiled. Suppressing his laughter in order to not tip of Kai and Robin to their mistake.

Spandam desperately reached his feet to the ground in an attempt to raise his arms off the blade and escape, only for his feet to dangle half an inch off of the ground. His eyes lit up one final time with hope as he cried out desperately.

"GRRRAAAHHHHH!!" He reached towards the ground with his feet, only to come up just short every time.

He continued to try repeatedly for 30 seconds until he realized it was impossible, he was at the perfect distance from the ground that no matter what he tried it wouldn't matter.

At this moment it clicked in his mind. There never was any mine. He was just playing Kai's stupid fake game this entire time. Slowly losing more and more blood in the process.

Kai wasn't just playing with and torturing him physically, he was doing it emotionally too, and Spandam danced the exact tune he wanted him to.

Spandam started crying as he noticed this. He balled his eyes out. His eyes lost any semblance of defiance and hope once more. Then after a while they simply lost any semblance of anything as they faded and turned dull. Spandam had finally succumbed to his injuries and bled out.

Kai saw this and said. "Annnnndd... time! That was 13 minutes and 58 seconds!"

Robin looked at him and asked. "You still kept time?"

Kai nodded and said. "As much as I despise that guy, I am a man of my word. If he lasted 15 minutes I would have let him down."

Robin thought for a moment before she nodded. "That sounds just like you."

Kai then smiled and said. "It's not like it would have mattered though, I made sure he would have lost enough blood that even if he got down he had a 0% chance of living."

Robin giggled. "That also sounds exactly like you. You really just toyed with him until the end huh? No loose ends at all."

Kai smiled and nodded. "I'd never let him get away after what he did to you."

Robin smiled and said. "You even told the fleet admiral off for my sake, you really are the best. Nishishishi!"

Kai smiled and imitated a certain someone. "Anything for my Robin-Channnn!!!"

Robin giggled and playfully commented. "I prefer the older brother."

Kai chuckled and leaned in to give Robin a peck on the lips before hugging her.

"You're safe now."

Robin smiled and allowed herself to collapse into Kai's arms.

"... Thank you, Kai."

She was finally free.
