Chapter 61: Buster Call

The two kept walking while following Spandam to the underground passageway and the 4 of them continued on in silence until they reached the other side. Once they got there Lucci said that he was going to watch the door just in case one of the Straw Hats found the secret passage.

Spandam allowed him to stay back as he still had Robin in seastone cuffs and a marine commander with him. Once Lucci left and the three: Robin, Kai and Spandam were alone Kai whispered to Robin.

"Could you keep him occupied for a second, then rile him up a bit? I want him to use that fake buster call soon." Robin nodded and Kai made a sound barrier around himself and pulled out a den den mushi.

"Hello? Who is this?" A man on the other end of the call asked.

Kai replied. "Yo. Gramps. It's been a while, but this is serious, we'll catch up later. So, can you get Sengoku and Aokiji on the line? I need them to both hear something, also tell them not to speak and just listen in secret."

Garp replied with a low voice. "Sure." As he did what Kai asked.

A second later Kai could hear two more people join the line. "Goat man and Iceman, how's it going? Well we don't have time for small talk so I'm just gonna assume it's good. Anyway, Admiral Aokiji, the man who you gave your buster call privilege to is right about to call it for no reason. Also he's going to call it on one of OUR islands, Enies Lobby. So I would appreciate it if you don't bomb me and the rest of the island because some idiot from the World Government wants to."

The three started to say something but Kai cut them off saying. "Shh. Just listen."

He undid the sound barrier and let the den den mushi hear Spandams voice. "I have the buster call! Just like what happened to your hometown 20 years ago! I can annihilate this island! How was it? How many times did you as an 8 year old brat nearly get killed! Just for your bounty, every adult you trusted turned you over. I don't even want to imagine having to live such a shitty life for 20 years! Guess what? The one who put the bounty on your head 20 years ago was the same man who called the buster call on your island! My father Spandyne! All for 'world peace'! HA HA! And now, 20 years later, I, his son, will hunt the only survivor! Ohara is finished! Everything is gone! History! WAHAHAHA!"

"YOU'RE WRONG! I'M STILL ALIVE!!" Robin shouted defiantly.

"SHUT UP WHORE! SOON YOU WILL BE DEAD! I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT! SEE THIS GOLDEN BUTTON? I CAN END THE STRAW HAT'S WITH ONE CLICK!!"

"Don't! If you press that button you will only be killing more marines! You have no reason to do this!" Robin yelled out before Spandam replied.

"OF COURSE I DO! IF I CAN CAPTURE YOU AND GET RID OF THE STRAW HATS THEY'LL GIVE ME A HUGE PROMOTION!! ALL I HAVE TO DO IS PRESS THIS BUTTON!!!" Spandam said as his finger slowly hit the golden button.

Robin freaked out. "You idiot! Do you know what you've just done? There are tens of thousands of marines on this island! They will all die because of you! Are you willing to kill thousands of marines just because of one promotion?!"

Spandam sported a grin as he heard this. He failed to notice that he had already accidentally turned on the speakers for the whole island.

"WAHAHAHAHA!! OF COURSE I WOULD! WHO CARES ABOUT TRASH LIKE THE MARINES?? THEY SHOULD ALL BE GLAD TO DIE FOR MY SAKE! I AM THE LEADER OF THE GOVERNMENTS ASSASSINATION UNIT CP9! MERE MARINES MEAN NOTHING TO ME!!" He yelled out.

The three people listening in on the call were all speechless and furious, but nowhere near as angry as Kai. He was struggling to hold himself back, but he nonetheless did. Robin realized that Spandam was broadcasting to the whole island right now and shouted.

"EVERYONE RUN! GET OF THE ISLAND OR YOU WILL ALL DIE! THE BUSTER CALL WILL KILL EVERYONE! YOUR 'BOSS' INTENDS TO SACRIFICE ALL OF YOU!!"

Spandam realized his own mistake too late. "Shit! This thing was on? Everyone! The Straw Hats are still loose on this island! I order you to stay until you catch them all! I can't let them escape this island before they are killed by the buster call!"

All the marines on the island heard everything that happened and made the easy decision. Run! Why would you ever stay and sacrifice your life for a boss who treats you like cannon fodder? They all decided to get on the water train that was set to leave soon. Just like that, thousands of marines left the island without even attempting to catch the Straw Hats.

Spandam saw and heard the commotion from across the island and cursed. "You bitch! This is all your fault!!" He said as he lunged at Robin with his elephant-sword in his hand.

Robin, who was still handcuffed, couldn't do anything except jump back. Spandam was going to miss her anyway but Kai still stepped in and met Spandam's sword with his own.

He said in an emotionless voice. "These are the people we are supposed to serve. The people who rule the world. Why do the marines follow these people?" Half talking to himself and half talking to the people on the call.

The three people on the other end pursed their lips. Finally Sengoku spoke. "Not all of them are like this. Don't worry, this has caught my attention and this man will be punished. Just wait for reinforcements and we will come arrest him."

"No." Kai said flatly.

Sengoku was taken aback. "What do you mean no? Can you not hold him off long enough?"

After a moment. "No. He dies now."

Kai replied in the same dull voice, sending a slight chill down Sengoku's spine. Before he replied. "Wait, Fujin. You can't just kill him! We need to arrest him! He is still part of the world government! You can't just do whatever!"

Kai paused for a moment. "So, because he is part of the WG, I can't kill the man who wants to murder thousands of marines and has caused many to die already?"

Sengoku sighed deeply before he said. "Unfortunately, yes. You can't ju-"

Kai cut him off. "I see. So I have to let murderers go because they are from the WG. Two more things real quick. One, Aokiji, I hear that you started telling people about how the Government wasn't that bad recently. I also heard that someone told you to be more careful and watch closely. Then right after that you give a buster call to a WG official who wants to use it to murder thousands of marines. So, quick question, do you still believe the Government are good people who don't oppress people?"

Kai paused his speech for Aokiji's answer. After a few seconds of silence he responded. "After this. I'm not sure what to think. I need some time to process everything, but I never gave him the access to a buster call for these reasons."

Kai didn't respond to his question as he said. "Second thing. No, this piece of shit dies right now *click*" Kai said as he hung up the phone.
