Chapter 24: Sports Festival (3)

At the stands we can see Rei and Fuyumi Todoroki sitting and watching the festival. As the obstacle race was finished Rei looked at Fuyumi and said

"Well, did he use his quirk or not?"

"He uses it all the time, just so that he can make it look flashy or without any flashiness" Fuyumi replied to her mother, as Jōichirō had told her that he always uses his quirk, even when he's sleeping.

"Oh... that's a good thing."

"Yeah, that's how he saved me after all, with subtlety~~" She told her mother.

Then they just started to have small talk about Jōichirō and his classmates who were participating in the sport's festival.

That silence was broken by a sound "Why is she looking like that mom?"

Looking up Rei saw her first born and said "Nothing, she's just upset that her little brother didn't make it to first place."

"Pfff.... that's fine Fuyumi, there are two more rounds. He'll take first place."

He said that by ruffling Fuyumi's hair.

Rei asked him "So you don't think your friend Jōichirō can take first place?"

"Ah... if he's trying to get the first place then Shoto will be second place that's for sure." Touya said.

"That's how much trust you got in your little brother, noted. I'll tell Shoto." Fuyumi said in a teasing voice.

Touya sighed as he didn't want to banter with her at all, because it always results in him losing an argument with her.

As he was about to say that he was leaving, Rei said "Touya, invite Saiba-kun to our home after the sport's festival. He saved your life, and I haven't been able to thank him properly for saving you."

"Alright mom, I'll tell him. Should we invite his family too?" Touya asked as he hadn't met Jōichirō's parents.

Rei looked at her daughter for a second and said "Sure, invite his whole family. We will have a dinner party."

"Alright, I'll be leaving now." Saying that Touya left from the seating.

As he left, Fuyumi looked at her mother and asked "What's your end goal here mother?"

With a playful smile, Rei asked back "Whatever you mean by that my dear daughter?"

"Come on mom, don't play with me." Fuyumi pleaded to her mom.

So Rei told her with all seriousness "I believe that it's time to introduce Saiba-kun to our family, not only as the one who saved Touya, but also as your boyfriend."

"But Mom!" Fuyumi was about to reject it, but Rei continued "Nothing will happen, so don't worry. Even though Touya acts like he will murder your boyfriend, he won't. Maybe try to break some bones, but looking at Saiba-kuns performance, I can say that it won't affect him in any way."

Just as Fuyumi was about to argue, Present Mic started his commentary.

In a dimly lit bar, a man with blue hair was watching the UA sports festival, near him was a purple mist with yellow eyes. There was another TV where "No Signal" was shown on the screen.

As soon as the obstacle race finished, the blue haired man said "Sensei, he's the one who punched the Nomu you gave me. And he didn't even flinch when Nomu punched him with its full strength."

[Mmmm, I can see that, Tomura. It appears that someone with an incredible quirk has appeared. This just proves that your theory is correct Doctor.]

[Certainly, he's strong. Maybe as strong as All Might, I think that we should keep an eye on him.] The Doctor said.

[You heard him, Tomura. Keep an eye on him, do not take any action against him until we know what he is fully capable of.]

"But sensei, by that time he may become stronger than All Might."

[I know that, but you have to know, All For One is not someone who can be easily defeated by the likes of teenagers. Sure, they may interfere, but that's only to the level an ant is to a boot.]

With that, the connection was disconnected and silence fell in the bar.

Looking at the white haired boy, Tomura said "Kurogiri, get all the details you can find out about him. He humiliated me at USJ, I will have to repay that to him."

"Master told us to only observe him, Shigaraki." Kurogiri said.

"Did I say that I'm going after him right now? No, I'll hit him when we attack UA again."

In the stadium, a couple of rows away from where Fuyumi and Rei were seated, the Saiba family were seated.

Yuki who was on her mother's lap said "Brother is so cool!!"

Smiling at her daughter's innocent excitement, Tomo said "Isn't he? I'm sure that he will be cooler in the next game, right honey?"

"Yeah, yeah. We both know that he's going to win this sports festival by a large margin." Jun replied off handedly.

Tomo looked at Jun but didn't say anything as what he said is true, because their son told them so.

Sighing, Tomo asked Yuki "Yuki, do you need to go to the toilet?"

"No mommy, but I'm hungry." Yuki replied.

"Alright, then let's get some food for you shall we." Then looking at Jun she said "I'll be back, watch out for the seat okay."

"Sure, sure." Jun replied.

With Yuki in her hand, Tomo went towards the snack stand to buy something to eat.

A couple of rows later, Yuki exclaimed at her "Mom! Look! It's big sis."

As she fully knows that the only big sis for daughter is her brother's girlfriend, she looked at where Yuki had pointed and found Fuyumi, with a woman who had a resemblance to Fuyumi. Tomo figured that the woman was Fuyumi's mother, and before Tomo could say anything her daughter Yuki had already left her hands and ran straight towards Fuyumi.

Sighing she followed her daughter in order to not to lose her in the crowd.

As she neared where they were seated, she saw Yuki sitting on Fuyumi's lap and speaking with Fuyumi's mother.

Fuyumi, who saw Tomo, bowed her head in greeting and made room for her to sit.

"So, you like my Fuyumi that much?" Tomo heard Rei asking Yuki.

Furiously nodding at the question, Yuki replied "Yuki loves big sis so much."

"Is that so?" As Rei looked at her daughter to tease her a bit, she saw Tomo sitting next to Fuyumi.

Rei smiled at Tomo and introduced herself "I'm Rei, Fuyumi's mother."

"I'm Tomo, Jōichirō's mother." Tomo introduced herself with a smile on her face.

Rei then told Tomo about inviting them to the Todoroki home, and insisted that they should come as a family. Tomo agreed to it readily, as she had wished to meet Fuyumi's family for a long time.

Unknown to Jōichirō, his mother and future mother-in-law had started to bond.

[Now then, I will explain the rules of the cavalry battle.

The time limit is fifteen minutes. Each team is worth the total of its members points, and the rider will wear a headband with that number on their foreheads.

Teams will try to grab each other's headbands until time runs out, and try to keep as many points as they can.

Stolen headbands must be worn from the neck up.

So the more you steal, the harder it'll be to manage them!

And the most important thing is that even if your headband gets stolen, or if your team falls, you're not out!

During the game, it'll be a cruel fight where you can use your quirks.

But it is still a cavalry battle.

You'll get a red card for attacks that are trying to make people fall on purpose!

You'll be removed immediately!]

After she said that a timer of fifteen minutes was shown on the hologram screen.

[Now, you have fifteen minutes to build your teams. START!]

I looked around to get a teammate, I noticed Mezō, so I went towards him and said "Hey Mezō, let's team up."

He was taken aback as his eyes went wide for a second, but he composed himself and asked "And who else is going to be in our team?"

"I was thinking about Asui,. ..... " I stopped mid sentence as I saw a pink haired girl walking towards us. As soon as she reached us she beamed us a smile and said "Hi! I'm Mei, from the support class. I want to join your team."

Looking at her I thought 'Wasn't she supposed to be in the same team as Midoriya? Ah.. right, she wanted to showcase her babies, and the first place is the best for an ad.'

Smiling at her I said "Sure, why not? Let me look for our last teammate."

So I looked around again and spotted Asui with Midoriya, Ochaco and Tokoyami. 'So she's out, who should I include in my team? Or do I need to? I can manage it with Mezō and Mei.'

Looking at my teammates I said "Guys, let's go with just the three of us."

"Ohhh... that means my babies will shine more." Mei said with stars in her eyes.

Not understanding what she was saying, Mezō asked "Babies?"

"Yeah. I'm from the support class, we make gadgets that help the hero course students, the gadgets I make are my babies." She replied instantly with a lot of enthusiasm.

"Right.... " Mezō just trailed off, as he didn't know what to say to her. Then looking at me he asked "So what's the plan?"

"Mei will be the rider, she can use her babies to steal the headbands, I'll be the main horse, for defense, you Mezō will be in the rear observing what's happening in the field. You are our driver." I told them.

"What's a driver here? Rider and horse I get it, but a driver?" Mei asked me.

"Can I call you Mei?"

"Sure."

"Then Mei, Mezō can observe the battlefield with ease, he can inform us from where the attacks are coming from and we will move according to his orders, hence the driver." I explained.

"Ohh."

Then looking at Mei I said "I hope you have the necessary gadget to steal the headband of other teams."

"Of course I do. You don't have to worry about that." Mei replied.

"Cool. Then I want a favor." Mei looked at me and nodded for me to continue, so I told her what I wanted. Hearing that she was puzzled at first, but after telling a small detail about my quirk she smiled at me and said "That can be arranged. So let's win this second round."

"Sure." Mezō and I replied with a nod.

Within ten minutes of the remaining time for teaming up, Mei went and bought everything that would be used in this cavalry battle.

[All right! You've made your teams, right?

I'm not gonna ask if you're ready or not!]

Hearing Midnight announcing that, we got into our positions, with me in the front for defense, Mezō at the back to guide us and Mei as the rider to get the other team's headband.

I looked around and saw that most of the teams are the same as the cannon, with some differences here and there, like Midoriya's team has Asui instead of Mei, Shinso has Mineta with him instead of Aoyama. I took a double take on Mineta, as I didn't know where he was in classes, 'Maybe he's in Class B or in the general studies like Shinso. But since he was able to get into 1A, then maybe he's in 1B.'

[Now, let's go! Counting down to the brutal battle royal!]

"Gadgets check!" Mei said.

[Three]

"Check." Both of us replied.

[Two]

And I told them "Let's win this guy's."
