Polaris originally had mental health issues. Now, being stimulated by them brings back bad memories, causing her emotions to spiral out of control in an instant.
But Professor X is skilled at comforting people. Seeing that Polaris was on the verge of losing control, he quickly intervened.
"Lorna, I understand your anger. I know you harbor hatred because they have taken away many of your friends, which makes you want to fight back.
"But you are inherently kind, and you wish for mutants to receive fair treatment in human society. I am fighting for that too."
"My cooperation with the government aims to show the world through the X-Men that mutants are not scary. We also want to protect humans."
"Provoking war will not bring peace. Only by proving to humans that we mutants pose no threat can we achieve peace and gain equal treatment."
Professor X gently reasoned with Polaris.
But how could she listen at that moment?
"Do you think what you're doing will change their minds? No! They only want to completely control us mutants. They want us to be their slaves!" Polaris retorted angrily.
Professor X was taken aback and asked in confusion, "Why do you think that? It's not like that."
"Not like that? Then why do they study us mutants and create devices that limit our abilities? They capture us and experiment on us. Isn't that to restrain us and treat us as slaves?" Polaris shot back.
Professor X fell silent. After all, he was aware of the actions of these individuals, which is why he had been communicating with them.
"I have been in contact with the higher-ups. Believe me, this situation will be resolved perfectly soon," he assured.
But Polaris clearly didn't want to believe it anymore.
"I believed you once, but look what happened! You didn't save Bella, did you?" Polaris scolded, her anger continuing to rise.
Seeing her on the verge of losing control, Luo Bai grew worried that she might hurt someone.
Professor X's expression darkened as he used his mind control abilities, trying to calm Polaris down.
However, in her rage, Polaris's powers surged, and even she couldn't manage her mental state. How could Professor X easily control her?
"Don't control me anymore!" Polaris roared.
A green light enveloped Polaris as her body began to rise slowly.
Seeing her becoming uncontrollable, the X-Men immediately assumed defensive positions, ready to act at any moment.
"Don't engage! I'll try again," Professor X instructed.
He had underestimated Polaris's mental state during her rage and had held back his power.
But at this moment, Professor X had no intention of holding back.
As he prepared to use his powers again, Luo Bai spoke up, "Polaris, calm down."
Just six simple words caused everything to calm in an instant.
Polar Star, who was on the brink of emotional collapse, lost all her anger the moment she heard Luo Bai's command.
Having followed Luo Bai for so long, she had witnessed his strength firsthand. She understood just how terrifying he could be, and she recalled his warning: if she couldn't control her emotions and caused any negative consequences, she would be confined to a "little dark room."
Polaris had never been in the black room, but she knew that challenging the authority of the "mage" was unwise.
"Master Luo Bai, I didn't mean to..." Polaris quickly said.
"I know. It's alright; I'll handle it," Luo Bai reassured her.
The next second, a series of small sounds erupted around them, resembling breaking glass.
As the noise faded, the surrounding environment shifted in an instant.
Everyone found themselves in a new, wondrous, science-fiction-like world.
This was Luo Bai's mirror space.
Mirror space—a form of spatial magic from Kamar-Taj—requires a strong reservoir of magical energy to create.
The mirror space varies from mage to mage, as it serves as a field where the mage can alter everything within it according to their imagination.
Since every mage possesses a different imagination, their mirror spaces will be unique.
Thus, Luo Bai's mirror space was naturally different from the Ancient One's.
In truth, mirror space is not considered highly advanced magic by powerful sorcerers, but at that moment, Professor X and the X-Men were unfamiliar with it. They could only marvel at the sudden changes around them.
"What is this?!" Mystique exclaimed in surprise, looking at the altered surroundings.
"Mirror space, my domain," Luo Bai replied calmly.
As soon as he finished speaking, the ground beneath Professor X and the others split open unexpectedly.
Without time to react, they quickly fell downward.
Once they regained their senses, they realized they were plummeting from a height of 10,000 feet, their faces pointed toward the ground.
Panic set in as they faced the solid concrete below.
Falling from that altitude, even mutants would struggle to survive.
They desperately sought something to cushion their fall, but nothing was within reach.
As they continued to descend, they were about to collide with the ground. Suddenly, they noticed the ground cracking beneath them!
And then... they experienced the sensation of falling again.
X-Men: "Oh my God!!"
Professor X: "I'm convinced!!!"
Amid the chaotic cries, they fell through the air for what felt like ages until they were finally caught by a stone step.
"Oh, crap!!"
"Can you believe it? I just fell for ten minutes!!!"
"For a moment, I thought I was a goner!"
Once they stopped falling, they couldn't help but mutter in disbelief.
At that moment, Professor X remained silent, his thoughts swirling. He was, after all, a disabled person!
Had anyone considered his feelings?
Internally, Professor X was distraught, but he maintained a calm exterior.
He understood that everything they had just experienced was likely caused by Luo Bai, just as he was trying to find him.
Luo Bai and Polaris appeared before them, suspended in mid-air.
"I told you, Lorna is my housekeeper now. You can't take her away, especially since she doesn't want to leave with you. Professor X, you're so old; it's not right to bully a little girl," Luo Bai said calmly.
The recent fall had ignited Cyclops's anger, and he felt threatened. He turned to Professor X, seemingly seeking guidance.
Professor X, however, felt very aggrieved.
Anyone would find it hard to bear the stress of falling from such a height for a full ten minutes, possibly facing death at any moment.
Yet, Professor X knew they couldn't confront Luo Bai because he was aware of Luo Bai's capabilities.
Recent news reports had covered Luo Bai's fight against the Hulk, making it clear that Luo Bai possessed considerable power.
Thinking about this, Professor X felt conflicted.
"Using your ability to control other people's minds and read their thoughts is rather impolite," Luo Bai remarked gently.
"But Lorna lost control of her emotions. I only wanted to comfort her because I was worried she might hurt someone," Professor X defended himself.
However, Luo Bai's stance remained firm: "She is the housekeeper I invited, and she is in my house."
"I'm sorry, Master Luo Bai; I was too impulsive just now. I shouldn't have acted in your house," Professor X admitted.
