Chapter 040 The Power Of The Phoenix.

Luo Bai's attention is entirely captured by the power within her—the power of the Phoenix. Because of this, Jean Grey is also nicknamed the Phoenix Girl.

Speaking of the Phoenix Force, it's important to mention its origins. However, the Phoenix Force has had consciousness since its inception and possesses a very powerful autonomous will. Thus, the Phoenix Force chooses its hosts independently.

The power of the host can better display the Phoenix Force, and in the original multiverse, Jean Grey is the most suitable host for it. Consequently, the Phoenix Force gravitated toward Jean Grey.

Perhaps because Jean Grey has not fully matured, the power of the Phoenix within her is currently suppressed. It appears that Jean Grey is suppressing the Phoenix Power herself, but the "culprit" behind this suppression is likely Professor X.

After all, this bald-headed man is no ordinary individual. The reason Professor X became the founder of the X-Men and has so many mutants serving him loyally is not only due to his wealth but also because he is an exceptionally powerful mutant. He possesses telepathy and mind control abilities, allowing him to read others' thoughts and memories, manipulate their actions, and even connect everyone in the world through a brainwave enhancement machine.

"Okay, Master Luo Bai," Professor X corrected himself very politely before explaining his purpose for visiting.

"I am Professor X, and it's not safe for her to stay outside given her status," he said sincerely.

His reason for coming to see Luo Bai was not surprising; after all, Luo Bai had anticipated Professor X's purpose. In reality, there was no need for Luo Bai to clash with Professor X over Polaris, let alone have any connections with mutants regarding her. After all, he and Polaris had not known each other for long, and they had not established a strong emotional bond, so it would not have been unreasonable to let Professor X take Polaris back.

However, considering that Polaris had been diligently serving as a housekeeper for the past month, and given Luo Bai's previous inquiries about her strong resistance to Professor X, he refused out of compassion: "She is the housekeeper I invited. For now, you can't take her away."

Invited housekeeping?! Professor X was taken aback, shock evident in his eyes. Perhaps he didn't expect that someone with Polaris' character would willingly stay here as Luo Bai's housekeeper.

"Is what he said true?" he asked Polaris, clearly stunned.

Hearing her answer, the X-Men were shocked. Mystique, Raven Darkholme, who was standing nearby, immediately began to persuade her, "Polaris, you have incredible abilities. With your powers, you shouldn't be staying here as an ordinary housekeeper!"

Cyclops, Scott Summers, also expressed confusion: "Lorna, are you serious? Are you willing to be a cleaner?!"

Although mutants often have a low social status, most with significant abilities tend to be quite arrogant. They believe they possess great strength and are entitled to greater things and higher status. Thus, the members of the X-Men were shocked by Lorna's choice.

"Lorna, do you think we X-Men are worse than an ordinary housekeeper?!" Cyclops asked, clearly offended.

His words made Luo Bai very dissatisfied. "I disagree with what you said. Is being my housekeeper something to be embarrassed about?" Luo Bai complained. After all, he was the chosen mage with extraordinary talent and incredible luck—potentially the future Sorcerer Supreme! How could being the Sorcerer Supreme's housekeeper be embarrassing?!

Just as he was thinking this, Cyclops replied, "Of course! No matter how you look at it, being an X-Man is better than being a housekeeper!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Polaris countered, "No! In my opinion, being a housekeeper for Master Luo Bai is much better than being an X-Man!" Her expression was resolute, as if she wanted to join Luo Bai's side.

Her firm stance irritated the X-Men. Please! The X-Men had undergone rigorous training and had been working to maintain world peace! For Polaris to suggest that being a housekeeper was better than being an X-Man was infuriating.

"Lorna, you're being unreasonable!" Cyclops exclaimed angrily.

Mystique, even more curious, gently urged, "Lorna, you don't seem like yourself. Are you being threatened? You should be aware of your current situation. The organization and the Secret Service have sent people to hunt you down. Only we can protect you."

However, Polaris was no longer interested in their concerns. She turned to Professor X and demanded, "You say you can protect me? How can you guarantee that?! Professor X, are you really willing to cooperate with them?! How can you expect me to trust you?"

Polaris was furious. Anger surged within her, causing her mood to spiral. The power in her body surged wildly, as if she were about to unleash a terrifying energy at any moment.
