Chapter 34 - Simple Techniques and Understanding Of Battles

Axel was sitting with Vex and Eliara. At that moment, Vex took a deep breath. After bringing three beers to the table, he started talking.

"I can see that you're a Nen user."

Axel nodded and replied.

"I'm not surprised you see it. It is only to be expected considering that your aura is hidden but so strong that I cannot seem to unravel its mysteries.

"My name is Axel, by the way."

Vex grinned and didn't say anything. After the beers arrived, he took a sip of his beer and started talking.

"Now I want to talk to you about something important, Axel. It's about how to not get careless in a battle. By the way, I know that you are a fighter in Heaven's Arena, so I do have some information about you."

Axel was a little suspicious. Encountering someone randomly and knowing the other party in advance were two different situations.

But instead of asking, he inquired about the battle techniques that Vex was discussing.

"Can you give more details and information?"

Axel asked, and a curious expression appeared on his face.

"Well, it's common for people to get overconfident or distracted during a fight, which can lead to mistakes and ultimately defeat."

"You need to stay focused and aware of your surroundings at all times."

"The most important thing is to keep track of your net amount against both your opponent and yourself."

"How do you avoid injuries?"

Axel did not stop and kept asking questions as he drank his beer.

"First, you need to have a clear plan of action and stick to it. Know your strengths and weaknesses, and use them to your advantage. And always be on the lookout for any surprises or changes in the situation.

Vex answered patiently. Elionara was listening too, without saying anything and interrupting the talk between Axel and Vex.

What if you feel overwhelmed or stressed in the middle of a battle?

Axel asked about the situations where he felt overwhelmed and had nothing to do but found a way to take on enemies. He would be lying if he were to say that he never felt weak.

Vex answered calmly, without going into too many details. This kind of answer was good in the eyes of Axel, as it made him understand what was being said and the purpose of Vex's words.

Axel thanked me and finished his beer.

"No problem; always happy to help." Remember, stay alert, and stay alive.

"That's the key to success in any battle."

Vex ended the conversation after Axel thanked him. Axel could not help but think that he gained a lot from a simple talk with this man. The words he used and the things he said were not strange or obscure.

But it was still important.

"That's where training and preparation come in." If you've trained enough, you'll be able to remain calm and think clearly even in the heat of the moment. "Take deep breaths, relax your muscles, and focus on the task at hand."
