Chapter 25: Trouble Incoming [Bonus]

Vesuvius was sitting on the floor of his new lair. He couldn't fall asleep as he contemplated the problem he had caused. He wasn't stupid and realized that someone would probably be looking for the noble he killed. He knew that he had made and mistake, but the moment he had spotted his treasure in the hand of the noble, all of his rationality had vanished as he went into a murderous rampage.

In front of him were laying two pouches filled with coins and a golden ring with a small blue stone covered in blood. Vesuvius felt incredibly relaxed and satisfied as he looked at his recently grown hoard. His worries immediately diminished from such a beautiful sight.

'Should I rob some town?' Vesuvius's heart started to thump louder as he imagined a room filled with golden coins hidden somewhere under a town. He shook his head, suppressing his foolish thoughts, 'That would only get me killed.'

He looked at his smoke-filled lair, feeling like something was missing. It was tranquil, with the only sound being a wind howling coming from outside. He didn't know how it worked, but for some reason, he could see through his own smoke without problems.

'Ohhh, I have no minions... Where should I find some? No, I need to be stronger if I want to control minions that are worth something.'

After looking at his treasure, he calmed down enough, so he curled up on top of his hoard and closed his eyes, falling asleep.

POV BoobaFet's party:

Fet and his two party members were sitting behind a table. People were bustling around them and merely talking behind their own tables. The smell of alcohol and grilled food lingered in the air. A young girl approached their table and placed three kegs filled to the brim with a yellow foamy beer on the table.

"Please enjoy yourself and let me know if you need something else." the girl smiled before skipping away.

Booba brought the keg to his mouth and took a sip of it. His face immediately twitched, "Why do I feel that people are mostly drinking beer just because it is expected from them? Like seriously, it's sour, and it honestly tastes bad."

His dwarven companion looked at him with a look that one would give to a weirdo, "Listen to me, do not ever, ever again mention this if you do not want to get beaten up."

"Bang!" suddenly, the inn doors burst wide open, and a young boy in a weird pointy hat and blue robes rushed inside.

"Hey, there is a new town-wide event quest!"

Immediately attention of all of the players and even NPC adventurers fell upon the boy. Taken back by a sudden storm of looks, he froze.

"Come speak, what is it!" someone shouted, causing the boy to finally wake up out of his stupor.

"Baron's son went hunting into the mountains, but he never returned! Barons put a bounty for anyone who finds him or a culprit behind his disappearance!"

All of the players immediately stood up, steamrolling over the poor boy in the doors leaving behind Booba and his party.

Booba and his party members looked at each other, "Is it possible that it has some connection with the drake we are hunting?"

"Does anyone of you have a healing potion with you?" then they turned towards the mangled boy lying before the inn's entrance.

POV Vesuvius:

Unbeknownst to the event happening in the nearby town, the dragon opened up his eyes as he woke up. When he stood up, he immediately noticed that he got a little bit taller. The system almost immediately affirmed his realization.

'Is it normal for dragons to grow up so fast?' Vesuvius wondered for a few moments before he decided to check two new spells that unlocked after his dragon magic levelled up. An immediately new wave of information flooded into his mind. Unbeknownst to him, his eyes flashed up for an instant.

Dragons' genetic memory contains an immense amount of information. That amount was so big that most of that knowledge wasn't accessible to a dragon right from their birth as their minds couldn't handle it. For that purpose, was memory accessed bit by bit as a dragon grew up. Its whole content becomes accessible only after a dragon reaches an ancient stage of its growth.

He spent twenty minutes studying and trying to understand information that was implanted into his mind. Eventually, he got to the point where he understood what his new spells were supposed to do. The first one was relatively simple as it was derived from the spell that he used to cover his claws in elements. It expanded upon it, allowing him to cover his whole body in elements to use as a defence. The second spell was derived from the spell that allowed him to concentrate his breath attack into projectiles. The new one worked on a similar principle only instead of creating projectiles. It focused the breath into a thin beam. Decreasing breath's area of effect properties in exchange for increased range and damage in a small area.

Vesuvius grinned up, content with the two new spells, 'I can definitely see a use for them; now, I only need to use my theoretical knowledge of them to learn how to actually cast them. That should be reallativly easy as I already know their predecessors.
