Tournament II

After waking up I realized I passed out after getting back to my room. It must have been around five in the morning. I decided to head to the knight barracks to check on Aurelia and see how her healing is coming along. Stepping outside the inn I sped towards the barracks and stopped before the door. I knocked twice and waited on someone to open the door. A young looking knight opened the door and asked, "What brings you here this early?".

"I'm here to see how Aurelia is doing", I answered.

He pointed to the farthest room back. I walked towards the room and glanced inside. Anna was sleeping in a chair by the bed she was in. Aurelia looked a lot better considering the injuries she had suffered. Knowing she was fine I quickly returned to the inn where I found Mina already eating breakfast. I sat down next to her saying, "Morning, I went to check on Aurelia. She looks better than before."

"That's good to hear. I didn't know if they would be able to fully heal her", She said.

Thinking out loud, "The only way I'm gonna beat Arrion is if I can hit him before he freezes the ground and his armor forms.".

"It happens almost instantly. You're gonna have to hit him in a split second", she added.

After discussing strategy we decided to rest for a couple more hours before heading to the colosseum. Walking with Mina we noticed Josento and Arrion waiting at the entrance to the colosseum. getting closer I asked, "Why are you guys waiting outside?".

Josento answered, "Apparently the four opponents we were supposed to face dropped out so it's just the four of us left. They still want us to fight to see who is the strongest recruit.".

"Let's get this over with", I said.

Walking into the colosseum Godefray, Leya, and Anna were on stage waiting for us. We lined up in front of the stage and waited for them to speak. Godefray announced, "Congratulations on passing the exam! We will still be doing the final rounds of the tournament to give a rank to the strongest of you. Now Maximina and Josento stay put and Rokuza and Arrion please move towards the wall.".

When we got to the wall there was a short time for them to get into position before Leya shot off a flare. Mina started by moving in cautiously and keeping her fists high and tight ready to throw a punch. Josento casually started walking toward her, starting to produce a coat of electricity around his body. He looked like a walking lightning bolt and stopped right in front of Mina taunting her to throw a punch. Taking the challenge she threw a right hook and her fist stopped as soon as it hit the electric coat. Josento just backed away and dispersed the coat and Mina just stood there jittering a little and by the looks of it she wasn't gonna be able to continue the fight.

"The winner is Josento!", Godefray announced.

Anna used her barrier to move and heal Mina towards the wall and me and Arrion just glanced at each other before walking to the center of the colosseum. I looked towards Anna, "Put a barrier on Arrion before the fight starts. I'm going all out.".

A barrier formed around him and Leya shot the flare. I started building up speed by circling around the outer edge of the colosseum and turning straight towards Arrion. I slammed my fist into the barrier and cracked the shell. After I stopped a sonic boom erupted and shot sand everywhere. Arrion stepped back and put his hands up. Leya announced, "The winner is Rokuza!".

Josento spoke up, "I give up as well. I can't react to that speed.".

Godefray announced, "The winner of the tournament is Rokuza! All four of the examinees who passed will be granted the rank of ruby knight and will be admitted to the Hoiteron knight academy. Rokuza will be awarded five gold and given a nicer room as the tournament winner. Now, everyone should report to the academy for the enrollment process tomorrow at eleven. You are dismissed!".

After Godefray was done announcing Leya walked down to me and handed me a pouch of five gold. I thanked her and met up with the others. They were waiting outside the colosseum suggesting places to eat for a celebration. I suggested, "Lets just eat at The Sullen Crow and order the best meat and ale they have available.".

Everyone agreed and we made our way to the inn. Stepping into the inn the other examinees who didn't pass met us at the door and congratulated us. We spent the night partying and talking with the others wishing them luck next year. I was looking around and saw Aurelia sitting in the corner of the room and approached her, "Hey, how are you feeling?".

She looked surprised that I came over to her, "I'm doing a lot better. They were able to fix my jaw and arm.".

"What's your ability? The way you were tracking me had me on edge", I asked.

She replied, "My ability is sonar so I was able to track you but reacting was another story.".

Patting her on the back I walked back towards the table where Josento, Mina, and Arrion were sitting. Telling them, "I'm gonna step outside for a moment.".

Stepping outside I just stared at the sky watching the stars when I heard feet behind me. Turning I saw my father behind me. He said, "Glad you didn't disappoint me, son.".

"You never actually cared about me. So why start bothering now that I'm a knight", I stated firmly.

He answered, "Because you have potential to be faster than I am and you can help me accomplish my goal.".

After he finished the sentence he vanished. That was all the surprises I could take for one night so I went straight to my room after thanking everyone.
