"Mom... I don't feel so good..."
The morning after they returned home, Yue spoke the words Amri had dreaded.
She'd been fine in the car ride, excited, even, since Zai was going to come stay at the Center along with Rui.
Yet in the night, she'd suffered yet another void flame attack, and she'd walked to Amri's room in the hours before dawn, collapsing onto the bed and curling up in a ball.
Zai gave her some elixir, but this attack was a bad one, and so she'd sat up for an hour trying to gauge whether or not she should give Yue another dose or not.
Deciding against it, she reached forward and touched her forehead, familiar with the burning cold pain that flashed along her palm as she pushed back at it with her own qi, feeding a gentle stream of light into the void flame until at last she felt it quiet.
