Stealth

After several hours of meditation, a notification appeared before me, asking me from my meditative state.

<You have learned the talent [beginners mana core]>

[Beginners mana core] level 1/10 grants the user a 1% increase to maximum mana and mana regeneration.

This was followed by another notification from the system.

<You have triggered a quest.>

<Learn one magic formation.>

Reward: gain the apprentice wizard sub class

Failure: forever lose the chance to study magic

time limit: 6 days 20 hours.

The notifications filled me with excitement and dread at the same time. Success meant I could eventually become a powerful wizard! But I only had just under 7 days to accomplish it. After a moment of thought I figured the failure of escaping was tied into the failure of this quest as well. That meant in reality I had less than this time if I was going to be successful.

In front of me Pointy hat continued to snore, oblivious to my presence or worries.

Moving as slowly and carefully as I could I returned to the book shelves as I scanned through the books. I was only level one, and my strength was lacking. If I was to successfully escape this place I would need to do so stealthily.

As my eyes wander over the dusty book cases two books caught my attention. The first was a book called the beginners guide to stealth. After reading over the summary it was a skill book that taught the stealth skill. The words in the book would disappear after the skill had been learned.

The second was a magical spell book simply titled Venomous Grimoire. It was a book that centered around a sub category of the wood element, namely poisons. I grabbed both of them and headed towards the corner of the room. Old Pointy hat was still sleeping, and did not appear to want to wake any time soon.

I took advantage of this time to carefully study the stealth skill book. I could survive without the magic, but being able to escape was my first priority.

The book was fascinating, my mind was quickly absorbed into the book. Time passed without pause as my mind seemed sucked into the vortex of words that the book contained.

Oddly the words seemed to pass directly through my mind, and straight into my body as I poured over the book. I did not notice as Old pointy hat stopped snoring and looked in my direction. Nor did I notice him nodding as he smiled.

I was eventually awoken from my trance as the words in front of me began to disappear, they seemed to fade from the pages as they appeared in my mind.

A notification appeared before me.

<You have learned the skill [Stealth]>

[Stealth] level 1/10

allows the user to move unseen and unheard. Stealth is affected by the skill level and the agility stat.

I wiped my brow as I read the notification. A shiver ran down my spine as a massive amount of information flooded my mind. The flow of information was too much for my mind to comprehend and I blacked out right there.

=======================================

When I woke old pointy hat was gone, but there was a cold bowl of gruel in front of me and a glass of what I assumed to be water. As well as a new book titled [The art of assassination]. The stealth book was also gone.

My stomach growled as I laid eyes on the gruel. The taste did not betray the way it looked. It looked like a flavorless porridge that had rotted a fair amount. My stomach did a few flips as the disgusting porridge entered my mouth, but I managed to hold it down.

Shortly after what I had dreaded most about the day had finally happened. By bladder had become full, and I would soon be forced to use a part of my body that I was completely unfamiliar with.

I grit my teeth, and decided to use the opportunity to train. I activated the stealth skill, which ended up using 5 points of mana, and began to creep down the hall.

To my benefit the goblins were either not very observant, or they simply did not care about a newborn goblin wandering the passage ways.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a bathroom in time was forced to squat in some random room that I came across. The room was rather well decorated compared to the others I had happened across. There was a rather large wardrobe and a huge pile of hay. I ran towards to the hay and squatted. A flood of fluid came gushing out of me as I squatted, and my bladder finally got some relief.

I never left stealth, and quickly found my way back to the library room. Mission accomplished. kind of.
