Chapter Seventeen

Me and Gloin came in a little late, how do I know this well the Professor was already in also the class was full, yes including our lovable roommate but he was seating alone and the way the professor was looking at us as we walked to the backrow sent a slight chill down my spine Gloin on the other hand was completely infatuated with said Professor that he didn't notice the look she gave of us or he probably didn't care.

"Raiden.... argh! Your name doesn't roll off the tongue right," Gloin whispered as we sat down.

" Oh just call me Ray then,"

"Okay Ray of sunshine, you were right that Professor whew,"

Huh ignoring the sunshine bit I looked at the Professor and to be honest I didn't really see it well mostly because my own mom seemed more pretty than her and she was average, not that the Professor was ugly she was alright wait a minute why am I trying to be attracted to my teacher. The Professor herself had wheat blonde hair, chestnut brown eyes, pink lips and her formal wear had a certain air of dignity to it.

"My name is Professor Alexa Blight, but just call me Professor Blight, I'm your history Professor." She said.

"So as most of the professors are going to explain, you are going to have a midterm and end term exams for each classes as basic math suggest that each exams count for fifty percent of your grades and if you fail then I'd suggest asking your Professor for extra credit projects History is purely a theory class so if you can't study for your exams then give up on the projects." she said. " but advice the most doable classes when it comes to extra credit is combat, Biology and Chemistry specifically when it branches off to Alchemy, so shall we get started."

After that she started dictating the notes, the lesson lasted like an hour by the time we were done my fingers were slightly aching, Gloin was finishing the last few minutes of his sleep being a dwarf was helpful since the professor couldn't see him sleeping because of his height. The next class was mana core dynamics by Professor Vlad which I was strangely excited for. Gloin decided to skip this lesson on the count of that the first week was the only time he could dodge lessons without being noticed which strangely made sense. Gloin and I said our goodbyes on the hallway that connected the classroom I was heading and the direction of our dormitories.

The walk to my class wasn't really that long, I kept peeking into the other classes seeing what they were taught some of the things that was written on the boards, I could slightly make sense of them others I didn't have a clue in this world. Some other students and I reached the classroom only to find a class already there but it seemed like Professor Vlad was winding up the lesson so I leaned on the wall as I waited.

"That's all for today remember to read the notes of the previous year and to those who burned them well start regretting your life decisions," I heard the Professor said.

(note to self keep the notes for the future)

"Hey man if you give me your notes I'll settle your tab," some student begged his friend.

"deal, but remember I did warn you when you were burning your book yelling freedom! Where's the freedom now?" his friend answered with a smirk making me and a couple other students chuckle.

We walked in and Prof Vlad did spare me a glance as I walked over to my seat unlike my History lesson I sat at the second row, the class was filled and the notable thing was that this time Arthur sat next to me granted he didn't even acknowledge me but it was something. My theory was he either didn't stand Gloin or other people didn't stand him and both seemed plausible to me.

"I see that you are all settled down, my name is Professor Vladimir Flasinksi and I'll be taking you through your Mana Core Dynamics class, word of advice as some of your seniors will inform you that this is one of the most challenging classes in all of Longhorn I should know because I did most of the research," he said.

Instantly I could see that most of the students winced as he said this which did confirm that it was true, on a side note the girls of this class were looking at Prof Vlad in the same way Gloin was staring at Ptofessor Blight, which was surprising not because Professor Vlad's looks, he was handsome, the reason was that I didn't think girls cared about guys but guess they just don't care about guys like me.

"Now first question, what is the compound that makes up most mana cores and beast core?" the Professor asked instantly most of the students raised their hands.

"Yes and your name please my dear,"

"Miranda Thayne and Chytose,"

"thank you Miss Thayne, now next question where are cores located?"

"you also say your name while you answer,"

"William Salvento and cores are located behind our diaphragm and a little close to the heart,"

"Wonderful, now what is the fundamental difference between an augmentor's core and a conjurer's core?" he asked and almost all of the hands went down except of course mine, Arthur's and another girl human like me.

"yes,"

"my name is Melissa Windsor, and the I'd say the difference is the size, an augmentor's core needs to be larger than a conjurer's core,"

"well Ms. Windsor you are not wrong," he said earning a smile from the girl until, "but that wasn't the answer I was looking for."

"you," The professor was now pointing at me.

"their structure," I said.

"expand on your answer more also state your name cause I'm not sure if we know each other," he said a small smile formed on his lips.

"oh well an augmentor's core has a compound that is different from a conjurer's core,"

"interesting and what is the compound?"

" Tyloplasm,"

"correct and your name?"

"Raiden Ragnar sir,"

"Wait Ragnar?"

I heard that Windsor girl say as she looked my way.

"uhm yeah,"

"Do you perhaps have any relations with a certain Lilith Ragnar from Lizon?" she asked as her eyes had this faint interest.

"yes she'a my mother."

A light smile formed on her face as her attention went back to the Professor who kept asking more and more questions each one getting harder than the last, after he asked a question that no one knew that was when he started actually teaching us the first thing he did was draw a core on the board which was him just basically drawing a circle. He highlighted the parts where it was different liker the upper part of the core, the midsection and the lower part. He stated each compound that could be found in the core that you'd think this was a Biology class.

After his lesson we had a ten minute break before we had to attend the other two lessons followed by a thirty minute break then three more lessons followed by an hour for lunch till finally the last two lessons of the day. Gloin showed up for Mechanics and Machinery not sure he did that because this class was his passion or because the lesson was the last lesson to lunch, both made sense because after lunch he went off.

After my last class I was on my way to my room stretching my limbs because I have never really sat down for that long and I can't believe am saying this but sitting down is exhausting. I usually don't notice when someone was following me but even a blind man could notice these three students trailing me, one of the student was the Windsor chick, (I knew why she was following me), but the other two not so much. I stopped and turned around to face them.

All three students were humans and two of them were guys, the first guy had brunette hair, he face had a strange diamond shape, he had green eyes like elfy, he had chiseled cheekbones, pink lips, a strong and straight jawline, aside from elfy this guy was the second most good looking dude that I've ever seen, the second guy had brown hair, black eyes his features were vaguely normal like he was supposed to have good looks but he didn't.

"anything I can help you with?" I asked the trio.

"As a matter of fact you can," the boy with green eyes said with a smile that made me know this wasn't going to end well.

"see my friend here," the boy said as he wrapped his arm around Melissa's shoulders making her blush a little, "she told me something interesting about you."

"and what's that?"

"am getting there," he said his playful tone fading as I shot back, "is it true that your mother works as a maid."

I can't believe this it hasn't even been a week and this is already happening. Henry warned me that this may happen as the 'noble little shits' would get pissed that I was studying here with them.

"yeah its true,"

Without warning the boy rushed to me with the same speed as Arthur did this morning, the boy managed to accidentally land a liver shot and to make it worse his fist was reinforced by mana which meant that this was going to hurt like hell. I dropped to my knees as the faint taste of bile reached my tongue a groan escaped my mouth as I held my pained side.

"what that's it that's all it took to make you kneel," the boy mocked, "I was kinda hoping you would at least on you feet the first few hits hey Joshua might as well join in if you want in on the fun."

The Joshua kid did walk over and when he was close enough he threw a push kick aimed at my face, by instinct I raised my guard up, blocking the kick and as soon as I did I remembered something Henry told me, that of all the things a noble hated, a commoner who resisited was at the top of the list, so if I found myself in this situation I should just grit through the pain.

Joshua's friend grabbed me by the back of my head and slammed me face first into the floor, instead of pain the emotion I was filled with was anger, oh god did I want to break that hand so bad. His hand held me down making me look like I was bowing.

"Come on Joshua get serious," the boy said, "and you, stay still and don't block.

Joshua kicked me in my right ribs as his friend let go making me lie on my back soon a rain of punches and kicks rained on me until one of the two's foot found its way to my face making my vision darken.
