The Only Woman In His Life

"Emmett right? What a lovely name!! So please tell me more about yourself. Also tell me when did you both start dating? Why didn't I know that she had a boyfriend before? It was my pure luck that I came to know about you today due to the phone call! So hurry and tell me how did you both met and fell in love??!" Mary started her round of questions after sending her daughter up.

She knew that in her daughter's presence, she would not be able to get Emmett speak out about their relationship.

So she grabbed on the chance, when Jennifer had gone up inside her room to change her dress.

She first started to carefully observe her daughter's boyfriend, as she waited for him to answer her questions.

He was such a handsome man that she herself was dazed when she first saw him getting out of his car when she had heard a car's noise outside the house. She had lived for more than fourty years and this was her first time seeing such a handsome man.

While Mary was busy observing him, Emmett was feeling a bit uncomfortable with all the attention he was getting.

His future mother-in-law had started to throw her questions at him as soon as Jennifer had gone inside her room and now she was busy observing him.

It was the first time for him to patiently hear everything the other person in front of him was speaking. If it was someone else, he would have not even given the person a chance to speak. But the lady in front of him was none other than his mother-in-law, who looked all excited of him dating her daughter.

Thus he respectfully answered her, "Let me introduce myself properly. I am Emmett Tessier and I am in the business field. I have my own company which is in the improving stage. I am still trying to widen my connections." Well he wasn't lying about that. Though his company had many branches in different countries, there were many regions he found suitable to start up more branches and widen his scope.

He continued, "I live alone in my villa and I have a brother who is out of the country for work as he offended me recently." Emmett didn't even blink an eye while condemning his brother. Anyways he was stating the facts.

"My parents live with my grandparents in the Vismer estate. I decided to move out since I wanted to grow up on my own." He half-lied as he didn't want to tell her the other reason why he left the house. Well, it was kind of embarrassing speaking about his rumoured sexuality.

Vismer estate was the estate specifically designed for the rich and prestigious families. Only eight families could afford living there from the whole Paris. One of which was the Tessier family. The villa in which they resided was around 7000 sq.feet excluding the vast garden surrounding it. The villa was an ancient one, built by Emmett's great-grandparents. It got renovated recently as the time passed with the condition of the villa deteriorating.

Mary's eyes widened as she cupped her mouth, which had opened in shock when she heard him say that he was Emmett Tessier, the future heir to the Tessier family. She did know the name of the heir of Tessier family as it was all over the news, but he was a low-key person who didn't like to come out in public and show his face. So she had not seen him in real life. Also it was rumoured that he was an ugly man and a gay.

Heck!! The rumors were totally wrong as she had now herself seen the man in his flesh and blood. He was worthy of the title 'Adonis'.

His facial features were striking, so perfect that they could have formed an artist's most treasured portrait. His brow ridge was high, making his eyes appear deep. His black eyes, piercing like the most precious, sought-after shard of icy gemstone.Thin lips, high nose. His face could overthrow all of mankind.

Mary praised her daughter in her mind for making such a good choice.

"We just started dating, in fact it happened today that she accepted my proposal."

A beautiful smile lit up on Mary's face as she smiled happily, "Tell me more about it. How did she agree and all?" She urged him impatiently.

Emmett obliged as he spoke further, "She was a bit hesitant at the start but then she slowly started to open her heart to me after I showed her my sincerity. That's how we started dating."

Mary now was practically jumping in joy as she grinned. Finally, finally she could see her old Jenny come back to life. She so missed her daughter who would all day talk about handsome boys.

Her wish was now finally granted and she felt so happy that she wanted to dance and party all night.

Emmett was a little relieved after he saw the happy look on Mary's face. He had to lie about his relationship with Jennifer. He knew that she had her own insecurities and she didn't want her mother to know about their contract.

A little later he realised that he had spoken a lot today.

It was the first time apart from his family and Jennifer that he talked with someone this long. He was a man with few words and didn't like to elaborate himself, but Mary was his future mother-in-law and he considered her as his family, so he had spoken despite him feeling a little unusual.

Mary wanted to know more. She wanted to ask him on what stage had the two reached until now. But she knew that would make him uncomfortable, so she decided to just ask her daughter later.

"What would you like to have boy?" Mary asked with a smile as she stood up from the couch.

Emmett shook his head, "We just had our breakfast aunty so I don't feel so hungry now."

"Okay, so I will just serve you both lunch ones Jennifer comes down after changing. And why are you calling me aunty, Emmett? You should just call me 'Mom'. Anyways you will have to call me that in the future. Or are you not yet certain if you will marry Jennifer in the future?" Mary squinted her eyes as she looked at him.

But Emmett replied straightaway, he didn't need to think about this topic as he had already planned everything, "She will be the only woman in my life, Mom."

Mary beamed after she heard him calling her Mom. She also felt relieved after she heard him say that Jennifer would only be the woman in his life.

It was a known thing for everyone that the rich families only got their heirs married for profit. So Mary was a little worried when she had heard Emmett say that he was from the Tessier family.

She just hoped that he wouldn't be forced into marrying someone in the future. This was what she was most worried of.

And her worries were going to be proved true in the future.
