Dressing Up For Him?

Looking at the red dress on her bed, Jennifer sighed as she sat down on the bed.

Her father wasn't home most of the time; so he wasn't aware that she had stopped dressing like she used to do. Now she preferred jeans and tops. They were more comfortable for a combat, in case she was ambushed.

Though the dress was not revealing, but she still found it a bit girlish. The red dress was Deep-V neck classical bow belt vintage casual swing dress.

While she was debating on whether she should wear it, her phone rang.

Picking it up from the bed, on which she had dropped it earlier, she answered the call.

"Yes, Jason." Now when he had called her, did she remember that she had asked him to meet her at their regular place. She wanted to have a good conversation with him, after not contacting each other for a whole week.

The man on the phone spoke, his voice oozing with masculinity, "Are you back?"

"Yes, I just reached back home. I am sorry I didn't contact you. Also, I don't think I would be able to meet you today. Can we postpone it for tomorrow?" Jennifer asked, unsure if he would agree.

"Yes, no problem. By the way what got you caught up with, that we couldn't meet today." Jason had a hint of melancholy in his voice, which went undetected by Jennifer.

How he had missed her in those seven days. He loved her a lot, since the time he had met her, fifteen years back. It was just that he wasn't able to confess, knowing that she just saw him as a friend.

He had many chances, but whenever he would decide to at least give her a hint, he would end up getting dejected either because she wouldn't understand it or she would end up talking about some other boy, who used to be her crush.

After many failed attempts, he decided to stop and wait for the right time. But that time didn't come.

Yes, he did got a chance after that incident two years back, but she was not in her proper state of mind and he didn't like to take advantage of her vulnerable state.

But he kind of regretted not confessing then, because when Jennifer had started healing, she distanced herself from all the boys and literally pledged not to get into a relationship in the future.

She started to hate men who would take women for granted and take their advantage. So he didn't make any move from then.

But now not able to see her for a week had made him feel somewhat lonely. He didn't know when, but the love he had for her was somewhat transforming into possession.

He wouldn't like when she would talk with some boys, even though he knew that she hated men.

He just didn't want anyone to take her away from him, even though the chances were near to none.

He liked seeing her independent self, where she would handle everything by herself. He also liked the way she took the Black Panther organisation to heights from nothing.

In all, he loved everything about her. So he kind of felt dejected when she cancelled their plans for today.

"You see dad has come just yesterday and we wanted to have a family dinner together so I don't think I will get time to meet you today." Jennifer had to lie. She didn't want anyone to know about her signing a contract with Emmett as she didn't want to take any risk, which would somehow end up with her mother knowing everything.

Jason believed her without doubt, "Okay, so when should we meet tomorrow."

Jennifer internally heaved a sigh of relief when Jason bought her lie, "In the evening 6pm. Will you be free?"

"Yes. Let's meet at 6 then. Bye"

Disconnecting the call, she threw the phone beside her, on the bed.

Massaging her temple, she sighed.

How could she forget about her plans with Jason?

It wasn't like her. She would never forget about something like this.

Ever since that man had come in her life, her life had been disturbed.

He was making her remember how she used to be back then. She had also started to experience her habits which she had two years back.

One of which was how she used to sleep. Her sleeping posture was so bad that sometimes she would end up kicking a person, who would sleep beside her, out of the bed.

Last night she had experienced the same thing. The only difference was that she didn't kick Emmett out, but her sleeping posture was bad. She had ended up sleeping like a small baby, sprawling all over the mattress.

Getting up from the bed, she walked towards the bathroom. In the end she had decided to wear the dress, which her father had brought for her. She would just tell him some other time that she wasn't anymore comfortable with these type of dresses.

What Jennifer didn't know was that Mary had personally gone to bring that dress along with her husband.

She knew that if she told Jennifer that it was a gift from her father, she would surely wear it, given that she was her Daddy's girl. She would always obediently listen to him, as he was her role model and she respected him a lot. More than her mother.

Mary would sometimes feel jealous of her own husband, but he would pacify her everytime with few passionate kisses and by warming her bed.

Coming out of the bathroom, Jennifer wore the red dress.

Looking at the beautiful woman in the mirror, she sighed. It was two years since she had wore a dress.

Though she knew that she was beautiful, but she had never bragged about it. Nor she liked flaunting her beauty. She believed that her beauty was just a medium to attract attention of the hungry wolves waiting for her outside her house door. Hence, she always covered herself whenever she would go out. She had also opted for makeup quite few times to totally change her appearance, she though had to agree that she really looked ugly in that makeup.

Ever since that incident two years back, she had learnt something, which she wasn't aware of. At that time she had come to know that outer beauty never really mattered.

She always believed the saying, 'The real beauty always resides in you, your soul. Outer beauty is just showpiece. It could be destroyed by some physical means, but the inner beauty would always remain untouchable.'

Since that time, she had stopped judging a person through his or her outer appearance. Two years had passed and that saying had always helped her in many ways.

She had come across many people who looked pretty on the outside, but were total rotten inside.

She somewhat was thankful to 'that' person, because of him she was able to learn how the world really worked.

Fixing her dress and combing her hair, she took her phone, checked herself for the last time in the mirror and then made her way downstairs where Emmett and Mary were sitting.

I have shared a photo of Jennifer's today's dress in the comment section below.

I feel bad for Jason. He wouldn't be able to win her as she is already booked.

Also the saying about the real beauty is what I think. Those are just my thoughts, so it isn't written anywhere. So don't mind that if you have some other beliefs.

And sorry for the late update. I couldn't think of anything to write yesterday, so I decided to write in a fresh mood.

1 more chapter today(can be posted a little late).
