Chapter 4: 2nd day
"There's nothing wrong with him?" I asked, as Deaton passed me back Archer, who immediately, while seeming betrayed by me, jumped into my hoodie.
"Nothing at all." He replied, as he cleaned up his work station a little. But then he turned around as he continued.
"But, he does seem a little over reliant on you. My suggestion is to slowly build his courage up so he doesn't get separation anxiety. And just to be safe…." He said, as he passed some medicine.
"This will let him relax more."
"Thanks Doc." I said, putting Archer into my Hoodie front pocket.
"You take card?"
"Obviously."
…
All in all, my meeting with Deaton was anticlimactic. He didn't even need to allow me to enter the clinic, which is weird, since I am most probably a supernatural.
"MEOW!" Archer meowed loudly, as soon as I got into the car.
"Calm down, I did not betray you." I said, as I tried to pet him
"RWEOOOOOW." He screamed as he jumped out of my hoodie and into the passenger's seat.
"Ah whatever. Stupid dramatic cat."
As I said that, Archer jumped at my face, tryna scratch it.
"AH ITS ON!"
…
I woke up, on the dot at 5AM the next morning again, even though I only fell asleep at 2am.
I wasn't really bothered by the lack of sleep. I could go days without sleeping, a habit I had picked up.
I woke up to not see Archer anywhere near me, but this wasn't the first time he behaved like this.
I went to put some medicine in his automatic feeder as I then began my workout.
I wasn't really bothered by Archer's behavior. He was an extremely smart cat. Might throw tantrums here and there but he always ate his medication and did as I told him to.
After my morning routine and a shower, I was off to school once again.
I had economics for my first period, so as I walked in, I remembered the scene that would happen in this class.
Stiles, and his current unstable emotional consciousness.
I watched the entire thing happen. Stiles falling asleep, as his hand started to scribble on the piece of paper.
I just watched, as he was experiencing a horrible nightmare, and was woken up by the coach's whistle.
The show didn't do justice to how terrified he woke up from his nap.
I didn't want to get involved at all, so I just stayed like my low-key self and didn't say anything for the entire period.
I did make small talk with the kid to my right, whom I found out his name was Brendon.
He was also part of the school's Manga club, which had a meeting later that day where I would officially be a part of the club.
As class ended, Scott and Stiles ran out while I talked to Brendon.
"No way, we get the latest releases?" I asked him excitedly.
"Yeah dude. We get them for every manga out there. Mostly because the President of the club is this rich Senior who doesn't mind sharing his Manga, we are gonna have to find a solution without him though." He explained.
Now that's a true senior.
"So which chapter are we for one piece?" I asked him, as I didn't really remember which chapter Oda was at around this time.
"One piece? What's that?" He asked as we walked to A.P. Biology together.
"Oh boy, I am going to get you addicted." I said with a smile underneath my mask.
…
Soon, lunch time came, and today since I didn't have therapy, I could actually eat lunch.
After class was over, Brendon left to join his group of friends in the clubhouse. He said they usually hang out there, but I felt like it was because they just get made fun of for being nerds.
"You made another friend already?" Kira asked, as she was waiting outside of class for me.
As she asked me that, Lydia Martin and another one of our classmates walked out of the class. I recognised her from before but since she sat at the front of the class I didn't see the need to introduce myself yet.
"Why, jealous?" I asked, as we both walked to get our food from the cafeteria.
"Kind of. I have been here for 3 weeks and only talked to you." She said,
"You make it sound like that's a bad thing."
"Well it's definitely not a good thing."
As we eventually got our food, Kira recommended sitting outside since the cafeteria was full, but I could tell from my memories where this was going.
"Okay so what happens to a person who has had a near death experience, and comes out of it seeing things." Scott asked his group, as we both walked into the field with each a bag of the school lunch in our hands.
"And is unable to tell what's real or not." Stiles added.
"And is being haunted by demonic visions of dead relatives." Allison continued.
"They are all locked up because they are insane." Isaac ended the topic.
"Hah, can you at least try to be helpful, please?" Stiles said, with slight sass in his tone.
"For half my childhood I was locked in a freezer so being helpful is kind of a new thing for me."
As the group seemed done with their argument, Stiles didn't seem to mind as he continued, "Really, are you still milking the whole freezer thing."
As we heard the conversation, Kira looked at me, as she then said, "Watch, you won't be my only friend now."
She then motioned for me to follow her, as she pulled up in front of the group.
"Hi. Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear what you guys were talking about." She said, as the group visibly tenses as they were caught off guard by Kira's introduction.
"I think I might know what you're talking about." Kira said.
"There is a Tibetan word for it, it's called Bardo, it literally means in between the states. The state between life and death."
The interaction played out, just like in cannon, until the ending, when Stiles saw me when Kira broke the news of death to them.
"What about you Micheal Jackson? Why are you all dressed up there when it's 40 degrees out here." He asked as he turned to me.
"I have eczema." I said, not thinking that was what was gonna be my first lines to the main cast.
"Great, now I made fun of someone with a disability." Stiles said as he slumped over while mustering an apology.
"So, do you know anything about Bardo?" Lydia asked me.
"Kind off," I said, deciding to throw out a bone.
"When one achieves the state of Bardo, they are in something like a white room, with ceilings and everything."
"So an ancient word dating back to prehistoric times has modern technology?" Issac asked me,
"Just what I heard man." I replied, but Allison, Scott and Stiles got the hint.
"Thanks, but we gotta go." Stiles said, as he panicked and left, taking his whole group with him, leaving me and Kira behind.
"See, not bad eh." Kira said with a smug look, as she started to eat the school fries.
"Ya, not bad. Scaring away your first friends within 5 minutes should be a new record."
Then, she watched as I took my mask off to each food and hen coundn'y help but ask.
"There's nothing wrong with the skin near your mouth?"
"Ah is it clear?" I asked, to which she nodded.
"Seems like the cream the doctor changed it to is working."
