Hard Labour Detention?

"You missed a spot." Lucy stating, pointing to a specific spot on the ground.

I sighed as I wiped the spot she was pointing to with the mop I was holding. She has been saying the same sentence since I started.

Yes, I may be missing spots because I'm furious at the moment, but honestly I could care less about doing a good job cleaning these floors anyways. This is literally child abuse! They have cleaners who get paid to do this.

"I can't believe she's actually making you clean floors." Lucy chuckled.

"Apparently because I came almost 3 hours late on the first day of detention, I have to do something called hard labour detention." I answered, annoyed. I can't believe this teacher, she's crazy.

"Hard labour detention?"

I threw the mop on the floor and crouched, pulling at my hair. I swear I won't be shocked if I go bald after this mission. "I also have to spend my lunch time helping out in the cafeteria. For two whole weeks!"

"I feel sorry for you my friend." Lucy patted me on my shoulder. "Hey, look on the bright side. At least you don't have to be alone with her in an empty classroom, right?"

"Is that supposed to cheer me up?" I looked up at her and questioned.

"It was supposed to."

"Yeah, well it's not working."

"Well anyways... I've gotta go. Have fun cleaning floors!" She turned around and began walking off.

"What do you mean? Where are you going?" I got up off the floor and asked.

"I promised to hang with Cloe." She answered without even turning back to look at me.

"Who's Cloe?" I yelled after her, but got no answer. Is she selling me out for someone else? Don't tell me she has a new best friend...

I sighed and continued wiping the hallways, rushing it so that I could get it over as soon as possible.

"What do you want?" I asked grumpily.

"Hmmm... Can I get a salad? Oh and make sure there's no tomatoes in the salad. I'm allergic to tomatoes." A boy with squared glasses looked at me as he answered.

I placed the only salad available at the cafeteria on a plate and offered it to him, expecting him to just grab it and move on but he just stood there, dumbfounded.

"There's tomatoes in this. I specifically asked for not tomatoes." He crossed his arms and glared at me through the lens of his glasses.

"Well I'm sorry, we don't take specific orders. Stop being so picky and deal with it."

I really don't understand why Miss Jennifer would allow me to work at this place. The only thing I can't do in this entire world is being bossed around by whiny, arrogant people. She is going to regret making me do this.

"I'm allergic to them. Do you not understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?" The boy questioned further.

"No, I think you don't understand the words that are coming out of my mouth. If you're allergic to them then either, don't order a salad or pick the tomatoes out one by one yourself. Now, shut up and move on." I shooed him away with my hand.

Why are people in this school so annoying? I thought to myself as the boy walked away with a distraught face expression.

"Well if it isn't Sofia!" I heard someone say. I looked to the person next in line to see Juelz.

"What do you want, Juelz?" I sighed.

"Nothing. I just didn't see you as the person to volunteer for things like this."

"Volunteer? Why would I ever volunteer for this?"

"Oh." His face lit up as the realisation hit him. "You got the hard labour detention, didn't you?"

"How do you know about that?" I asked curiously. No one in the Feather Fall group seemed to be the type to ever get detention, except Leo of course.

"I had to do it once." He replied. "Do you know it was created because of us?"

"I hate you!" I screamed. "Because of you I've been stuck doing all sorts of chores all day long!"

"Hey! It wasn't only me. It was actually mainly Jaxson's fault. He had the stupidest April Fool's prank idea."

"I am going to kill Jaxson." I stated.

"Wow, Sofia? Is that you?" I heard someone else ask. I turned to see it was the one and only Jaxson.

"Jaxson! I am going to kill you." I said, tongs pointed directly at him.

"She really hates you right now." Juelz explained to the now confused Jaxson.

"Why what did I do?"

"Hard labour detention." Juelz stated.

"Ohhhhhh..." I could see Jaxson begin looking around for an escape route. "Anyways, I gotta go!"

"What's wrong with you?" Juelz asked Jaxson, puzzled by his behaviour.

"Trust me. I've seen her scary side before. I don't want to see it again." Jaxson whispered, or tried to, to Juelz. I heard it all. Juelz laughed and soon both of them disappeared into the crowd of hungry teenagers.

I sighed and continued to serve people for the rest of lunch.
