The First Round Concludes

With the fifth fight completed, the First Round was slowly drawing to a close, with displaying who among those genin have the actual potential to become chunin, and those who are destined to stay a foot soldier in the upcoming war.

Indirectly, the result of this exam would decide the course that their lives would take, and for some of the genin there, eventually determine if they would live or die.

After Raido was carried out in a stretcher, Doto signalled to one of the genin to go to the on site medical bay in order to inform Obito of his upcoming match.

Doto: "May Hayate Gekko and Might Guy please enter the arena for the Sixth Match of the First Round?"

Hayate let loose a series of coughs as he approached the arena, before preparing himself once he reached his position, as he placed his right arm on the katana on his back, ready to unsheathe it at a moment's notice.

Guy on the other hand, did a flip off of the balcony onto the arena before confidently approaching his opponent before offering his hand before the match began.

Guy: "MAY THE FIRES OF YOUTH SHINE AMONG US IN OUR GLORIOUS BATTLE!"

Hayate: "Um..*cough*..Ok?"

Guy: "EXCELLENT!"

Doto: "Alright, now, are you both ready?"

Both of the boys then nodded in acknowledgement.

Doto: "Very well then, Begin!"

Hayate was the first to engage, as he suddenly executed an attack with his katana, as he drew his blade and slashed at Guy in one clean, fluid motion.

Guy however, was incredibly quick, and able to evade the blade via a quick duck.

As the fight continued, not a single ninjutsu nor genjutsu were cast, as the battle was instead, purely one of martial prowess.

As Hayate executing the Kenjutsu which he had been trained in for many years, and Guy did the same for his Taijutsu Style.

Although Guy could easily win if he used his trump card, the eight gates, he decided to not do so.

Both to use it as an ace for his next match, and also because doing such an action would not be youthful, and would go against the type fight that he was having right now.

A type of fight which he virtually never was able to have.

Eventually, the battle ended in Guy's victory, due to a mixture of his opponent running out of stamina, and his incredible ability to blitz his opponents with raw speed, which caused Hayate to forfeit.

As the match ended, a look of newfound respect glimmered in each of the boy's eyes due to the other's physical prowess.

Over a period of a few minutes, the previous contestants left, and the new ones joined, in this case Tokara and Obito, who had arrived just in time, within five minutes of arriving, he was already on the arena floor.

Obito was essentially his equivalent in the anime, bar being much more powerful and slightly less awkward.

The boy had a basic knowledge of Taijutsu and Fuinjutsu, but more than made up for this with his advanced knowledge of Ninjutsu and how he fused it with his aforementioned Taijutsu.

Comparatively, Tokara was just average, only able to use a handful of earth style jutsu alongside the basic three taught in the academy.

Doto: "Are you both ready?"

Obito and Tokara: "Yes Proctor."

Doto: "Begin!"

The match itself was a joke.

As soon as it began, Obito closed the distance and engaged Tokara in a contest of Taijutsu, which involved Obito thoroughly dismantling his opponents guard in a series of punches, which upon breaking, Obito proceeded to deal massive damage to.

Tokara tried to counter using his staff, but Obito easily evaded the strike, before forcing Tokara's other hand to assist him in performing hand seals in order to perform a jutsu, all the whilst he used his other hand to continue his taijutsu assault.

Tokara could only look on, horrified, as his body was manipulated into helping the boy cast his jutsu.

Obito then skidded backwards before cupping his hand over his mouth and pointing it towards Tokara.

Obito: "Katon: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

However, just as Obito was about to unleash his technique, he was stopped by the proctor, who grabbed his shoulder as the boy was in the middle of jumping back, causing the boy to pause and cancel his jutsu as he looked towards the man.

Doto: "Due to the clear gap in skill, I have made the judgement to call the match here."

Hearing this, Obito nodded as both him and Tokara returned to the stands to watch the next match, with the latter only needing some basic medical treatment, as he only suffered some bruising, with no real damage done to him.

Doto: "For the final match of the first round, may Kurenai Yuhi and Asuma Sarutobi please join me here?"

The two both slowly approached the stage, clearly dreading the fact that they would have to fight one another.

Doto: "Are you ready?"

Both of the hesitated before nodding, determination evident in each of their eyes.

Doto: "Begin!"

Asuma made the first move, clearly trying to avoid being trapped in Kurenai's genjutsu, as he pulls a kunai out of his pouch before using his "Flying Swallow" technique in order to create an elongated blade of chakra.

However, just as Kurenai was about to lose due to being slashed, she completed it.

A genjutsu instantly enveloped Asuma, as his entire world turned dark.

Kurenai had a light smirk on her face, as she believed that she had won.

Although, this smirk quickly left her face as she felt a blade of chakra pressing against her neck.

Turning slightly, she was greeted with the site of Asuma smiling sarcastically at her, clearly pleased with himself at his ability to outmanoeuvre her.

Kurenai: "How?"

Asuma had an amused smirk on his face, as the version of Asuma which was currently trapped in the illusion vanished in a puff of smoke.

A shadow clone.

Asuma: "Being the son of the Hokage comes with it's fair share of benefits."

Some casual flirting and banter was exchanged between the two, as it was announced that Asuma won and the first round ended.

Anko: "What do you think of the First Round, Mizuki?"

Mizuki:"It was just a warmup, didn't even get to fight anybody good. Stuff only starts to heat up in the second round."

Besides her match with Rin and Asuma's match with Rin,which were both at least somewhat even matches, the rest of the first rounds were more of a one sided domination than an actual battle.

But that would change in the second round.

Well, for some of them at least.

Mizuki let loose an ominous chuckle thinking about how lucky he was for this round.

It would be a cakewalk.
