Chapter 27

'I haven't been here long, but it was nice' 

Thought James while looking at Nest city from outside the gates. 

It has been 2 days since the deathbringers expedition ended and some stuff happened, but nothing major. 

The biggest one is probably about the mysterious person that brought Yang Jing back to the city and kept her from dying, in a mysterious way. 

People have been talking about it since people just saw Yang Jing sliding along the ground unconscious. 

As for who this mysterious person is, James decided it was best to keep his mouth shut about his shadow ability for now. 

After all, even strong cultivators couldn't detect his shadow, well, not all. 

James was still worried about Song Bing and how much he knows, but seeing that nothing happened so far, he decided to keep it on the back burner for now, he can't do anything about it at the moment. 

James already finished saying his goodbyes to the few people he knew in this city, which wasn't much. 

'It's time for a new adventure'

In a dark room somewhere in the city. 

"Master, are you just going to let him leave?" 

Asked Xiu Li, she was curious considering the value of the item her master gave him. 

"Patience Xiu Li, the seed of debt was already planted, I already made sure he was aware that we gave him the pill and the value it has, I'm sure he will pay that back in the future in some way" 

"And what if he doesn't? What if we never see him again?" 

Hearing that, her master had a cruel smile on his face. 

"Then we just take what we were owed" 

Seeing her master smile, Xiu Li was surprised, it is rare when he genuinely smiles, and it is usually because of profit. 

"You believe that he can bring you profit this much?" 

"Yes" 

Her master answered without doubt, there was always the risk of getting nothing back, but if his bet succeeds, he can already see the profit he will gain from this, not just monetary either. 

Seeing her master's face, filled with nothing but confidence, Xiu Li decided to stop here. 

As for how James has heard about it, her master started spreading rumors about him giving a phoenix pill to James and about the value it as, while also to make sure James heard about it, he sent people to the inn he was staying at while James was eating meals to talk about it and get it stuck into James's brain that Xiu Li's master is the one that helped him and the value of the pill he gave him was immense, to the point you can't even get it with just money, making him feel more indebted. 

"Xiu Li" 

"Yes, master?" 

"Don't worry too much, I sent Spirit and Soul to keep an eye on him, it is a risky investment, but it doesn't mean I can't make it safer." 

Looking at her master, Xiu Li heaved a sigh of relief. 

'And here I thought he lost his mind'

(Short chapter I know, I wanted to start James's adventure today, but I'm extremely tired at the moment and I only have 50 min to upload time, so I just ended it here. 

I will try writing a longer chapter after I wake up, but we will see, it will mostly depend on if I'm in the mood to write.
