Chapter 2

Bunzio then went to the laboratory and started searching for all the things they could find. 'He wanted me to run around, but they are now running around for something related to Vegapunk. It looks like they were too late. Either some other group beat them to it, or the government made sure to clear his reports.' Tanzo thought.

After a whole 6 minutes, everyone heard the first whistle. Tanzo headed towards the source of sound along with others. When they got there, a member of the group was waiting outside a huge room with a huge locked door. Near the entrance, it read 'Dr.Vegapunk personal laboratory' which put a smile on everyone's faces.

Bunzio then asked Rencer "Rencer, do your magic. We don't have much time." and Rencer nodded. He placed his hand on the wall and in just a few seconds, the whole wall turned brown. This is the power of the Rust-Rust fruit.

'This fruit is supposed to be owned by a marine. I guess he gets it after Rencer dies.' Tanzo thought. The wall then crumbled into dust and Bunzio said "Quickly, find anything you can find and leave in 1 minute. Go...go...go.."

Everyone ran inside and as expected, all of his work was in the room. Everyone was happy when they saw the research papers and books, already imagining the money they would get. Rencer then noticed the weird looking devil fruit in the middle of the room and broke the glass to take it out. He took it out and was looking at it.

He wanted to show it to Bunzio, so he turned around and as he was walking towards Bunzio, his body fell to the ground. He was shocked to know that he was falling down when he was completely fine till then. The devil fruit fell down from his hands and when he hit the floor, he realised that he couldn't move any of his body parts except his head.

He looked around and it was the same for others as well. Everyone was confused as to what was happening, including Bunzio. That's when Bunzio looked to his right and found Tanzo walking towards him. Bunzio immediately realised that Tanzo was the one responsible for this.

Tanzo first went to Rencer and picked up the devil fruit he found. Tanzo looked at it and thought 'I never thought that I would actually find this. This was locked away in some secret room and Momonosuke just stumbled upon it by accident.'

He first took a bite and sure enough, the show didn't exaggerate about the taste of the devil fruit. 'It feels like I am eating a dish which contains all the disgusting food in the world, mixed together to make it even more disgusting. I wanted to test out my powers, but the place is small and I don't want to die at this point of time. If the whole laboratory falls on me, I will be dead with my weak body.' Tanzo thought and was enjoying his moment, but it looks like Bunzio didn't want him enjoying his time.

A knife flew in his direction from his right. Luckily, Tanzo noticed it in time and dodged it. He then looked at Bunzio, who was still able to move his arms while the rest of the crew could only move their heads. Their whole body was completely paralysed. "I am amazed you are able to move your arms despite the effects of the paralysing gas. I guess the Six powers learnt from my father are really helping you stay alive." Tanzo said

Bunzio shouted "Shut up. It was me who trained hard everyday. It was me who survived all the intense training everyday. So, don't even think that it was your father who made me strong. I reached this level on my own."

Tanzo said "I don't care how you look at it. Six powers are not something all marines are taught. You should be lucky that my father was kind enough to train both of us. You managed to survive all these years with my father's help."

Bunzio obviously didn't agree with what Tanzo said and threw his sword at Tanzo. Although he was still weak due to lack of food, he made it up with quick thinking. Seeing the sword fly towards his legs, he quickly used a nearby book to block the sword, but the impact from the throw was still a lot for his weak self and it did cause a lot of pain.

With no other things to throw, Bunzio just glared at Tanzo, slowly losing control of his hands. Bunzio fell to the floor in a few minutes and started laughing. Bunzio asked "To think that I underestimated my opponent so much that I didn't even realise when you made your move. How did you do it?"

Tanzo smiled and said "Since you are as smart as I am. I want you to figure it out yourself." Bunzio hated it when Tanzo smiled at him. He still lifted his weak hands and moved it along the body suit and found an opening near the crotch area, the inner right thigh.

Bunzio felt it completely, smiled to himself and burst out laughing. He said "I really love your desire to survive. That was what I liked when you were still my slave. You knew you were fucked, but you didn't want to loose hope, even though you had no way out. I guess I myself presented you with an opportunity by bringing you here."

"Come on Tanzo, I want to hear you explain to your crew how you all will die here in my hands." Tanzo said and Bunzio didn't want to amuse him, so he kept quiet. Tanzo then said "Fine, I will do it myself. If you guys could move your hands to your body suit near your crotch, you would find a small sharp protrusion from your pants.

Many might be thinking how I managed to find something sharp since you didn't let me do anything else other than cleaning and washing clothes. It is actually a fish bone from the fish you fed me a week after my capture. I broke the bone into a small piece and put it in your clothes when you have them for washing.

Your foolish act of throwing all your clothes for washing just to make me suffer, was your downfall. Since you wear something inside your pants, you couldn't feel it. Now, when you wear your protective gear, the small bone is rubbed against the body suit every time you walk.

You guys ran around like mad dogs and the poisonous gas entered your suit. The only reason you didn't realise till now is due to the adrenaline rush." Tanzo completed his explanation and people were very angry at him, but couldn't do anything other than scream at him.

Tanzo then picked up the sword Bunzio threw at him and walked towards Bunzio. He cut open the body suit and took out the key to his bomb collar. Bunzio always carries the key with him so that Tanzo doesn't steal it. Tanzo opened his bomb collar and it fell to the ground.

Bunzio then said to Tanzo "I am happy to know that I am not going to die alone. You spent 9 minutes here with your explanation and you only have one minute to leave this island, which is not possible on your own."

Tanzo replied "I hate to break it to you, but I found another gas mask in this laboratory. It should give me enough time to escape this island." and then killed him with the sword in his hand. Tanzo said to the dying Bunzio "Don't feel bad about all this. This is my father's last wish."

Tanzo's body is now occupied by another soul which is fused with Tanzo's soul. Even though the soul isn't related to Tanzo, he was an orphan on Earth. When he saw the memories of Tanzo with his family, along with the influence of Tanzo's soul, decided that they were indeed his real family. So, for someone who didn't have a family, he decided to consider Tanzo's family as his.

Tanzo then went and killed the rest of the crew. Tanzo didn't have much time, so he collected all the important things he could find in the room and made his way to the ship as soon as possible. He was able to make it out of the island, but he was not able to make it on time, resulting in paralysis to his right hand.

Tanzo first needed to get back to his prime self, so he cooked and ate all the food in the ship after he anchored the ship a safe distance from the island. It took him 3 days to heal completely and get back to his prime self.

Now that he was done with the whole Bunzio incident, he needed to get back to the Navy and his family. Tanzo was eager to meet his family and wanted to prove his innocence as soon as possible. He needed to contact the higher ups of the Marine headquarters, but he couldn't directly go to the Marine HQ. He would immediately get captured and miss his chance to prove his innocence.

So, he decided to go to the G-5 base, which is the nearest Navy base from the Red line. Tanzo needed the coordinates of the base, so he used the Den Den Mushi on the ship to make an SOS call. Usually, every Navy base monitors and taps into all the calls near the base and their main focus is always calls between pirates, which usually end up in fights. The Navy base then sends its battleships and takes advantage of their battle to capture both of them. So, when some pirate responds to Tanzo's SOS call, the marines would tap the call and Tanzo can locate the base through the call tapping.

It is a very risky process, but he didn't have a choice. He isn't a navigator and he can't find one in the middle of the sea. So, he sent an SOS signal and waited for the response he needed. Finally, he found someone that responded to his call.

The other person who responded to his call is also a pirate. When Tanzo picked up the call, the pirate asked "Which crew are you from and where are you?" Tanzo only replied "I am stuck on our ship in the middle of the sea. I don't know where I am."

The pirate group asked "What do we get from helping you?" Tanzo replied "We found a few research papers of Vegapunk, which should get you a lot of money."

'I don't even have to think about this. He definitely wants to kill me and take any treasure I have. That's the whole reason pirates respond to SOS calls.' Tanzo thought. The pirates responded with "Fine, we will follow your coordinates and help you in a day."

Tanzo checked the device which is supposed to lock onto the Den Den Mushi in the base and it still needed time. So, he had to continue the conversation, giving the pirates vague coordinates of the ship to keep the call going. When the device had the coordinates of the base, he immediately hung up.

He then steered the ship in the direction of the base and started his four days journey, which increased to 10 days due to his poor navigation skills and the extreme weather of the sea. Tanzo was lucky he even survived alone in the Grand line. Many lose their loves to the extreme weather conditions and their journey ends before it even begins. It wasn't complete luck though. He learnt a little about navigation from his friends when he was in the Marine headquarters.

During his 10 day journey, he read all the research papers he took from Vegapunk's laboratory. He wanted to return them to the government to earn their trust. As he kept reading the research papers Tanzo thought 'This Vegapunk is more intelligent than any of us on Earth.' Tanzo was able to recognise his genius because he himself was a Biologist on Earth.
