CHAPTER 03.

In the Vincent Mansion, Vanessa's stepmother Edith Vincent was frowning staring at the declining stock prices. The Vincent family would have been bankrupt days ago if it weren't for Vanessa's wedding to the Laurent Mansion. But Andrew Laurent didn't provide much assistance, just 50 million dollars.

The 50 million can barely make the company work for the next three months, Edith was worrying about how to get more money when a housekeeper came and knocked on her door, "Madam, Mrs Laurent is back from the Laurent mansion, would you want to meet her?"

"Mrs Laurent? Vanessa!?" Edith thought for a while, it was rare to visit your natal home right on the following day of marriage, did this idiot do something wrong in the Laurent Mansion? Guessing this, Edith's eyebrows twisted.

This stepdaughter was merely a tool in her hand, among the two stepdaughters, Vanessa is the sheepish and poorest looking, it is her who assisted Vanessa to get married to such a prestigious family!

Edith felt like she did care for Vanessa too much and similarly felt pity, It would be better if my daughter Victoria married, but that man was already 36 years old, just wait till she weds her daughter to Eric Laurent, the youthful son!

If Vanessa listened to this, she couldn't help but roll her eyes twice, thinking of Andrew's requirements for his wife to be docile and dumb, he likely wouldn't even think of selecting the haughty and tempered Victoria.

"Let her sit downstairs and I'll directly head there." Edith kept stroking her hurting forehead, wondering if she should directly hit or just scold Vanessa, at this time, the Vincent Family had to rely on Vanessa.

Vanessa took off to the Vincent Mansion with two maids and ten bodyguards surrounded.

Entering the maids politely directed her directly towards the living room unlike before where they would ignore her like air, it was a complete different experience.

As soon as Edith, her stepmother came down the stairs, she began criticizing, "Vanessa! What behaviour is this, coming back only a day in your marriage! The whole Vincent Family depends on you!"

It wasn't a caring or concerned tone, those who didn't understand their relationship might believe she was the servant and Edith the master.

Vanessa's face didn't stop smiling, making Edith feel a bit uncomfortable, this girl never smiled at her like this before.

Of course, Vanessa was smiling, when she wasn't married to the Laurent family all she got was beating and cold treatment. The stepmother doesn't even care if she eats or not. She has starved too many times and now yearns for money...it doesn't matter who's. She can't win Andrew's affection anyway, with her average appearance, he would perhaps rather sleep with a prostitute.

Vanessa quickly picked up the glass filled with water and forced Edith to drink it completely. "Mother, calm down, your wrinkles will expand! Moisture your throat...!" Vanessa grinned and said a lot of affectionate words, saying flattery didn't require money at all!

In barely 10 minutes, all of Vanessa's so-called family members received the news, stepsister Victoria and the adoptive daughter of the Vincent family Violet, Violet was the daughter of Edith's deceased sister. Her so-called biological father didnt care, he was presumably busy preserving his shattered corporation.

"Heh, look who's here dressed as a beggar guess the old man didnt like your dry face, hehe.." Victoria didn't care about Vanessa marrying into a respectable family after all she was so mediocre and ordinary looking.

Vanessa wasn't wearing vibrant clothes, a natural shirt seamed into her pale brown petticoat. Her bangs covered the dark calculating glow in her eyes.

Violet hastily stood beside Vanessa as if taking her side and added, "Vane! Don't give attention to Vicky's words, how's the Laurent estate? Did something happen?"

Violet is the youngest moreover the wisest in Edith's eyes, she realized that what right now was crucial was to know why Vanessa was here, if only her daughter was as clever as Violet, she could live in harmony!

Victoria unexpectedly frowned, from childhood to the present her mother had always watched her with a pitying look whenever Violet was near her, "Mom! Kick Vanessa out! Let her go live with old man, husband, let me become the daughter-in-law of the Laurent Mansion and see how I kick her out!"

"Victoria! Go up to your room right now!" Edith's mood was turning from sympathy to dissatisfaction staring at her mindless daughter. Violet was moreover taken aback, Victoria wouldn't behave so hostile, even though the Laurent family members aren't there can't she see the ten motionless bodyguards! Victoria didn't want to leave at first but Violet dragged her upstairs.

Vanessa barely suppressed her urge to chuckle and said, "Mother, I discovered that my step-son likes peaceful and strict-looking women..'' Of course, Vanessa was spitting nonsense, she didn't even meet her so-called stepson yet.

Edith hearing what Vanessa whispered, swallowed greedily, she expected to scold more but Vanessa had hit her soft spot, only Vanessa can bring information about her step-son, the son of Andrew Laurent, Eric Laurent.

"Okay..Okay..Vanessa, you know your sister is always so hot-headed, but you nevertheless need to think about her, only we as a family can assist you when you are down.." Edith took advantage of the family card, weak people like Vanessa depend on their family too much thought Edith, from the "impression" Vanessa gave.

"I spoke to my step-daughter, she explained that her brother preferred women possessing a face like Megan Fox and body like Kim Kardashian.." Vanessa deliberately spoke unhurriedly while lowering her head down, yes, she was speaking nonsense again.

Edith froze in her heart, this..this..Eric can't be such a picky person, can he? Eric didn't possess elegant features at all showing his half Korean origin but rather, he had unravelled a masculine look. Tall, dressed in all black as if a breathing mask affixed to his face — a man who wouldn't express emotions at all.
