6: The Mask

Sometime in the evening.

Stephan and his little sister Jasmine who had just finished eating some food that their mom had ordered could be seen sitting around on the couch watching television.

Ring!

It was at this moment that the door had rung, causing both siblings to look at the door.

"it's Mom, I'll get it" Jasmine knew what time her mom usually got home, so she hurriedly went to the front door and opened it.

"I'm home, is everything ok guys?" The blonde-haired lady walked in and hugged Jasmine, her eyes then looking at Stephan who was in the distance.

"yes, why would anything be wrong Mom?" Jasmine felt confused as she heard her mother's words, Stephan also sat up and got closer to them as something seemed to be wrong.

"that's good, while driving here I ran into some neighbors who informed me that the police had been investigating a supernatural occurrence that happened in the woods last night, you guys haven't heard about it?" his mother set down her purse on the kitchen countertop after removing her heels.

Stephan felt his heart pound for a split second before he calmed himself down, perhaps he had been too open about the idea of going outside at night.

"Supernatural? What happened" Jasmine was very curious and asked, with her gossipy mouth, perhaps her whole friend group would know about this situation soon enough.

"Bodies of deer have been randomly found in the woods around our neighborhood, and they all got their blood sucked out of them, by something like a parasite, that's all I heard," their mother said, she seemed pretty curious as well, but she didn't care too much, after all, she had just come home after a tiring day at work.

"Sucked? Like vampires do?" Jasmine said with a shocked expression, she made some scary expressions while hugging her mom.

"girl, stop it" Her mother berated her with a sigh.

Stephan just watched all of this with a calm expression, it seemed like he had to take extra precautions while he was doing crazy things at night.

Stephan came up with a small plan to better hide his identity before hugging his mother and then sitting down with her, The middle-aged woman loved to talk to Stephan about her workplace, especially since it was filled with rumors and many other things, it was very interesting.

As they sat at the dining room table, Stephan glanced at Jasmine who was busy on her phone, and then looked at his mother.

"Mom, I got something I need to go buy at the store, I'll be taking the car," Stephan said as he stood up.

"oh, well don't stay out too late," She said, although she knew Stephan was an adult now, the situation with the deers still made her mildly uncomfortable.

"don't worry, I'll be back in half an hour" Stephan promised before going upstairs to put on a hoodie, grabbing his keys, and then walking outside.

10 minutes later.

Stephan parked his car in a remote parking lot near a shopping center, he then put on his hoodie along with a surgical mask before walking into the store.

Although he looked very suspicious, Stephan didn't care at all, it's not like he could get arrested for looking suspicious, well, at least not here.

Stepping into the shopping center, Stephan looked around at the crowds of people walking back and forth, his mind seemed to go crazy from the faint scent of blood which strongly erupted from this large gathering of humans, but he brushed it off and continued on his way.

"it should be here" Stephan muttered under his breath as he moved towards a location that sold some pretty neat yet simple masks.

Stephan didn't plan on buying these masks, instead, he would easily just steal them.

After all, with the world he was in, he wouldn't be surprised if he did something heinous with this mask on, and someone tracked him through the transaction he had at this mall.

it was better safe than sorry.

Stephan pretended to be looking around at the masks calmly, his two hands held together inside his hoodie pocket.

The receptionist lady at the counter glanced at him every few seconds, but she shrugged it off and didn't say much about his shady appearance.

Stephan spotted a mask he liked hanging on one of the walls, it seemed to be made out of food material, and would easily fit his face, he could also easily maneuver it around if he ever needed to suck someone's blood.

it was a completely black mask, similar to that of the Venetian Volto Joker mask, except completely black with only the bottom half of the face revealed. (image here)

this would allow Stephan to devour blood whenever he wanted, with the mask on.

swoosh!!

Stephan stood in the opposite direction of the mask and stuck out his hand, within a split second his finger made contact with the mask and it immediately disappeared.

it was sent into his inventory.

Stephan acted calmly and strolled around the mall before finding a goofy-looking mask and grabbing it, as to not be too suspicious he paid for it and immediately left.

he would probably give this mask to Jasmine or something.

it would probably make her extremely mad.

As Stephan was about to leave the store, his phone buzzed in his right pocket and he instinctively pulled it out.

[Text from Mom]

We ran out of toilet paper, can you buy a whole pack for me if you're still outside?

Stephan looked at the message and replied before going searching for a big pack of toilet paper.

After finishing everything, Stephan threw the pack of toilet paper into the trunk before slowly driving back home.

The sun was slowly setting and the clouds were dark, Stephan felt a smirk creep up on his face as he anticipated the coming of the night sky.

His thirst for blood had been growing stronger.
