"You look so plump, sweetheart, and your skin is radiant!" Lilian exclaimed, glancing briefly at Allen.
He noticed her gaze shifting between him and Aurora. The little girl embraced her mother's neck and planted a kiss on her forehead.
"I thought you wouldn't come back to me," Aurora mumbled. "I thought you had left me."
"Oh, darling. How could you have such negative thoughts about your mother? Not a day went by that I didn't think about you, my dear. I love you always," Lilian responded.
"Mummy, my fever is really bad..." Aurora said sadly, and Lilian hugged her tightly.
"Don't worry. I'm here now. I'm here..."
However, Aurora was still not entirely content with her mother.
"No, Mommy. You only came because I was sick. You didn't come to see me before," she sniffled, her expression turning into a frown.
Lilian sighed and gently set her back on her feet. She knelt in front of her, taking her hands.
