As he stepped through the door, Aiden felt a bit tipsy. He spotted Katie watching a movie and glanced at her briefly before heading toward the stairs.
"Hey Aiden," Katie greeted, standing up and catching up with him, smiling.
Katie hadn't seen him in days and hadn't called, believing he was upset about their marriage being more about obligation than love. But she loved him and wished to be his one day.
Aiden regarded her with a blank expression, wanting her to understand he wasn't interested in being her husband, especially if it hadn't been for his brother's insistence.
"Welcome! I missed you while you were gone," Katie said, reaching for his hand.
Aiden pulled away and looked her up and down.
"Well, I didn't miss you at all. Walking in and seeing you here irritates me," he replied, brushing past her.
