Here I was in college, Zavery Winter Maddox. It's October in Salem, my favorite season; of course, my town went overboard, but there isn't such a thing in my book. For two reasons: I love Halloween and barely any class. I've also felt like someone is watching me, but I doubt that something deep inside me hopes I am. That feeling always made me feel like I was a freak due to reading about it. My boyfriend at the time called me one due to me sharing a fantasy with him, so I kept them to myself after that. I was getting dressed. I put my black collar on and swallowed, feeling a fire deep in my lower stomach and my thighs slammed shut. I fix my curly hair and makeup, grab my bag, and walk out. I see Kyle, my boyfriend. I rush up and hug him. He hugs back. "Why do you wear that thing? It's stupid," he said. I look away.
"I like it," I say. Kyle rolls his eyes. "You're becoming too much, Zae," he said. I scoff. "Fuck you, Kyle," I say, putting my hand on my hip. Kyle looks. "You wish I would. We are done," he said, walking off. I storm off, mumbling unknown to me. Ghostface saw the whole thing, and he went after Kyle that night and killed Kyle in his sleep and wrote I love you, Zae in Kyles's blood on his wall. The following morning, I was working at the local Starbucks and looked up to see officers walk in."Hello, my name is Larry James, and this is my partner, John Young. We were wondering if you happen to be Zavery Maddox," asks with a worried look. I look up, meeting his gaze. "Yes, sir." I wondered why he was looking at me with pity. The officers look at each other. "Did you know Kyle Stevens?" they asked as their tone sounded more sympathetic. I was getting worried. "Yes, we dated for two years. What happened," I asked. They took a deep breath. "Come to the station after your shift, and we will explain," they said and left.
I finished my shift and kept thinking about what the officers wanted from me. I was nervous as I walked into the station, not knowing what they wanted. I walk up. "Hello, Larry James and John Young available," I ask. The woman nods and calls for them while I wait.
