A Date. A Wedding. A Muggle Wizard Interaction.

"Can you go to my sister's wedding with me?" She said, "I mean, just as friends," She said quickly as James raised his eyebrow.

"Okay," He chuckled at her discomfort. "When?"

"Tomorrow!"

"Okay, then you will have to pick up a tux for me," James told her, "I'll be working till 7, as I am getting this treat."

Lily was shocked at what he was considering a treat. Sleeping and eating like a normal person. But the truth was, all of them had been working very hard. She hadn't seen Sirius since the day before. He hadn't come home after that.

"You are late!" James and Lily were approached by a huffed bride.

"Petunia, it said 8:00, and it's 8:01." Lily told her.

"Still, late!" Petunia eyed James from the corner of her eye.

Her sister had brought a date much much more attractive than Vernon Dursley.

"Lily, Darling!" Before Petunia could pounce on her more, they were approached by Mr and Mrs Evans. They hugged each other

"And who is this fine gentleman?" Mrs Evans looked at James.

James was standing tall, in a tux that highlighted his muscular figure. He could have been easily the tallest person under the roof.

"Petunia, I saw some weird bloke with your sister..." A fat, short guy approached Petunia.

"Hi, James Potter."

James realized he was talking about him, but still he offered his hand, with a smile that appeared for a fraction of a second. The man ignored his hand and pulled Petunia from the crowd.

"I am so sorry, dear!" Mrs Evans apologized. "That is Vernon, He must be under a lot of stress!"

Mr Evans snorted at her comment but didn't say anything.

"I am sure, he is!" James nodded his head slowly.

"So how long have you been seeing each other?" Mr Evans asked on a more serious note.

"Oh, We are not!" James informed him, "I am here, as a friend."

James thought Lily looked a little annoyed at this but he dismissed this thought from his mind. How could that be? She was the one who told him to back off. She would never be interested in him.

Mr and Mrs Evans left their side, and went off to entertain some guests. Lily took James to find some seats.

Soft music. James didn't ask about her rude sister, she didn't want to say anything. Everyone was dancing.

"Hey!" A blonde girl came over from the other table. "Will you dance with me?"

She asked James.

"What's your name?"

"Sarah!"

"Sure, Sarah, I'll take this dance, if it's okay with my date."

Sarah looked over to Lily hopefully, with her blue eyes big and heavily lid with mascara.

"Sure!" Lily said half heartedly.

Lily saw James offer a hand to Sarah, and lead her to the dance floor. It was minutes when the song ended, after Sarah took James outside. Lily looked at both of them going out in the garden. She felt a pang of jealousy.

"So what do you do, James?" Sarah was strolling next to him in the garden outside.

"Huh," James came back to the world, "I am sorry, I...work in a non paying job at the ..uh...the" He struggled to find some muggle phrases. "a police station."

"Like an internship."

"Like a whaaaa?" James was a little confused, but pulled himself together, "Sure, like an intern...ship."

"So you are going to be a police officer, when?"

'This girl sure asks a lot of questions.' James thought to himself.

"A few years, I think."

They were a good way from the hall, Sarah pulled him in a corner.

"You know something..." She started to say something, But James had a panic attack. He didn't like her. This girl...was not….Lily.

"I'm sorry, I have to get back to Lily." He pulled himself away from her.

"Is she your girlfriend or something?" Sarah asked in a hurt voice.

"She is...," James was taking quick steps back to the hall, "She is something."

Lily saw James come back into the room, she was almost glad he was alone. He came over to her, and sat down again. Then he thought something, and got up again.

"May I have this dance, Ms Evans?" He asked graciously.

Lily laughed, and took his hand, and before they could go on to the dance floor, they were approached by Mr and Mrs Dursley.

"So James, Petunia darling was just telling me that you don't have a job." Vernon was standing in front of him, James looked like a huge man in front of him.

"Yes, she is right, I don't have a job." He said pleasantly.

Lily shot Petunia an annoyed look.

"So you live in an apartment with four other guys?" Vernon asked in a condescending voice, as Petunia let out a sharp giggle.

"My parents left me a couple of places, and a pleasant amount of gold." James's tone was still easy and pleasant.

"What about a car?" Petunia asked him, "Vernon just purchased a beauty."

"A car?" James looked confused, and turned to Lily, "A car, what is a car?" He whispered.

Lily stifled a smile as she pointed to a car that was visible from the side of a window.

"So it just moves?" Vernon thought he was a lunatic. "On the ground, like this?" James did a hand gesture to clear up the confusion.

"Yes!" Vernon said coldly. "And it was 10,000 Pounds."

"Pounds?" James turned to Lily.

"Muggle money." She told him softly.

"So you spent 10,000 of your coin thingies on a car which doesn't even fly?" James's face displayed the confusion and innocence of a child.

Vernon's face was red, it looked as if it would explode. Lily nudged him. He turned to her.

"What?" He asked, "It doesn't even fly!"

Lily thought Vernon would punch him.

"I have cousins who are not even of age, but have faster rides then this, I mean broomsticks!" James was bewildered, 'why spend money on this?'

"James, come with me!" Lily took him away, as the vein in Vernon's forehead was popping in and out.
