Famously Dangerous

It wasn't long before news reached me that Dragons were vanishing into the mountains, Irene must have spread the word of my arrival. I sat at an corner table, completely emersed in the shadows. I watched the humans around me in the inn. They couldn't guess what I was if I flashed them a fang filled grin. The door swung open and a woman in a blue cloak walked in. Her scent was wrong for a human. "She is Elven, Zane. They too are being hunted." I decided to keep an eye on her as she walked to the innkeeper.

"I need a room for the night." Her voice was soft, lyrical almost. My dick twitched. "Bad time to recognize your Chosen, Son. We don't get to go unmated. It's the way we are made."

"Fuck me."

"More like 'Fuck Her,' child. You don't have a choice."

Bahamut was right, my instinct told me to fuck my cover and take her right there on the bar. I warred with my dick for a minute when I realized that the innkeeper pointed at me. "You can bunk with him, he has the only room with two beds."

Shit, I'm screwed. She turned to look my way, her swirling silver eyes met mine and she froze. It was like time stood still and we were the only two people in the world. She knew who I was and I knew who she was. At that moment, I didn't hate myself.

I watched her walk across the room and stand before me, shielding us from view. "Mate." My voice came out raw and I almost growled.

"It seems so. I am Denesaria, my friend call me Aria."

"Denesaria, I like it. Smooth like you. Not as rough as me. I am Zane, Son of Bahamut."

"Aren't you all her children?"

"Not truly. We call her Mother because she is our First Dragon. She claimed me as a her true child. In our race I am an Abyssal Dragon. Death gave me to Mother as a gift. I am her only Child. She is happy I met my Chosen so quickly in my new life. She says Hi." Denesaria smiled softly. I never wanted to talk so much in either one of my lives.

"Since you are so forthcoming, I am Princess of my people, My name means Lightbringer in my tongue. My magic could kill you."

"And I, you. Thank you Denes, for telling me." She sat beside me, our backs to the wall and watched the room with me. "I think Death really doesn't want to see you again if fate gave you the one weakness we have. I like her already."

Denesaria went to put her hood down. I grabbed her hand and put it to my lips. "Don't, they don't know what we are yet. Let's keep that way for now. I already paid for the room, it's nonrefundable." She nodded, understanding my meaning. Her unbelievably beautiful face would give her away. If her eyes hadn't.

"Then let's go to the room, I wish to really see you. I know you feel the same." I stood and pulled her gently along careful not to cut her through my leather gloves. We walked upstairs hand in hand. The people who watched me come in and then her whispered silently, My two blades made me out to look like a Hunter. That was my plan once I took the Hunter's life. I took his gear and made it my disguise. "Clever, Zane."

"You have no idea how clever. I was once an awful man, made Death my business. She doesn't like me much." Denesaria laughed, the most beautiful sound I ever heard. I opened the door to the room and let her inside closing the door behind me. She took note of everything, I blanketed the windows and moved all the furniture around to face the door. She pulled her hood down and untied it. dropping the cloak on the floor. She was beyond beautiful. Her hair was so pale a blonde it could be white. Her creamy skin made my hands itch to touch her. The leather armor would be replaced to help protect her, but it fit her like a glove.

"Now that you have seen your Chosen, let me see mine." I pulled off the purple long coat and flexed my sore wings. She looked at me in wonder. "I remember a story the council told me when I left the city. A purple winged dragon was saving his people. He decimated the king's men to protect them. He sent the Kingdom of man a message in the form of a burning man in the throne room. It was you. My Chosen is The Dragon men fear."

"Yes, I am. Do you still wish for this? there is no going back, we will be bound for eternity. I can't die. Death made me immortal." Tears welled in her eyes. I quickly pulled her close and wiped them away. "Don't cry for me, Mother is happy, I am not alone anymore."

"But if we hadn't met today, you would be." I did the only thing I could think of to stop her tears. I Kissed her. She tasted like the sun, my Light. I never tasted anything sweeter. "Say yes, Denesaria, and I will never be alone again. Be mine for eternity."

I waited with baited breath. Could she tie herself to the world forever? Could she be with someone so famously dangerous?

"Yes."
