New Life

Two weeks, all it's been is two fucking weeks and already four jackasses are trying to kill me for my claws and teeth. I dodged yet another sword and back flipped out of range.

"This beast is stronger than the last one." Did they just say what I thought they said?

"Last one?" They laughed and sneered at me. "Zane, I feel one of my children is very weak, the humans you battle left her to die." I lost all my patience. I sidestepped another sword and used my momentum to slice open his throat with my claws. "Oh shit, Darren's dead!"

"Yeah, and your next." I used a burst of speed to twist my arm through his chest wall ripping out his heart with my bare hands. "Funny, I didn't think he had one." I sneered, dropping the heart as I launched myself at the next guy, ripping his head clean off. I through the head at the last one and then I was on him. "Please, don't kill me."

"I bet she said the same thing to you. I have no mercy, take my name to your people, let them fear it and me. I will destroy all who hurt my Kin, no more will we be slaughtered for our claws and teeth, no more will we be slaves for your magic. I am Zane Bahamut, Son of King Bahamut. I am the Abyss." I ripped off his arms and seared the wounds closed. I stared into his eyes letting my eternal fire pierce his soul. "Deliver my message, and die before your King. Tell him to fear the Fire for it is ours." I watched my puppet walk back to his people. "Mother, lead me to her. I want to help."

"Come my son, follow her cries on the wind. She is not far."

I took their gear and used my fire to reforge it to fit me. The steel armor now looks like Dragon Scales burned black at the tips. The sword changed into a dragon bone Great sword. I hid my wings beneath a long cloak made of purple cloth, hiding my identity as a Dragon. I lifted my face to the wind and listened. Her voice was faint, and soft. I ran, launching myself into the trees searching for her. It didn't take long before I found a group of soldiers leading a wagon with a cage on it. I could feel her cold pressure around them. "Ice Dragon, Her will is fading, soon she won't be able to keep her human form." Bahamut whispered softly. I noticed that the soldiers were afraid of her. "Give her assurances, Mother. Let her know I am here now."

The woman in the cage glanced up and our eyes met. I felt her sadness in my soul. Death would have to fight me for her. She knew what the men wanted of her. ****, torture and finally the loss of her wings and claws. "Tell her my name, Mother. She is safe now." I slipped past them and waited a head of them on the road. I drew my sword as they neared me. "Move Citizen, we are under orders to transport this beast for the tower." I laughed. "I am no citizen, Human. I am Dragon Kin. You have something of mine. I will take her back."

The soldiers laughed. "Dragon Kin are weaker than Dragons boy, we will take you as well."

He summoned a man to the front, Bahamut fed me the information on him. "You killed many of us for coin, Dragon Hunter, Mother wants your heart." The man froze in horror as I released my fire. "Abyssal Dragon, You all need to escape now, leave the cage and run. You will die if you don't." The man drew his sword, it was blood steel with blue inlays. I could feel the souls of my Kin on the blade. The soldiers ran, in fear and terror. The ice Dragon stood up and looked at me. "It's ok now, I'm right here." I kept the Hunter in sight as he tried to pick apart my defense. But I was stronger, I danced around him slicing pieces off as he tried to dodge me. Soon he became exhausted, I stepped into the next attack slamming my fist into his chest and I slowly ripped his heart out. I held it high in my hand, offering it to the sky. "For you, Mother. The heart of our enemy." Lightning struck my hand but all I felt was her hand taking the heart and caressing my cheek. "Thank you, my son. I love your gift."

I ran to the cage. "No, Zane. The bars are magic. you will become trapped here too." Her voice acted like the feel of first snow on my skin. "Tell me your name, My lady. I will free you." She had beautiful eyes, like a frozen lake.

"Irene."

Ok Irene, stand back." I gripped the bars and pulled. I felt the wards try and fail to pull me in. But I let my fire free. I melted the wards and the bars. Irene launched from the cage into my chest. "Thank the Mother you came."

"Mother sent me. She loves her children."

Irene stared at me in shock. "But I was told she was just a piece of our faith." I felt Bahamut rage at the insult. "She is very real. I am her Son, Zane Bahamut. The last Abyssal Dragon." Irene squeaked and fell to her knees. "I am sorry my Lord, I meant no disrespect."

"Get up, I'm not your Lord. Just a Dragon, like you." I left her there and kept walking along the road. I didn't need the headache of friends right now. "Your leaving me?"

"Yep, did my deed for the day, your on your own. stay off the roads. Go up the mountain away from humans, give them less of a chance of catching up."

"What about you?" I waved back to her. "I have more Dragons to rescue. maybe we can meet up again. Bye, for now."
