Chapter 35

"Everyone, this is my husband, Ajay." Diya introduced him and signaled him to take the empty seat beside her.

Ananya was angry when her plan to humiliate Diya went downhill. Her informant did say that she's not on good terms with her husband. 'Did she lie?'.

Ananya got lucky when her aunt who was working as a nurse informed her about Diya's mom being admitted and the commotion her father created. She should call her again to reconfirm the details.

Everyone focused again on their food. Kaia and Ravi introduced themselves to Ajay and conversed with him from time to time. Diya listened to their conversation quietly, only stepping in whenever Kaia started to get overexcited and share her embarrassing moments. Ajay enjoyed watching Diya blushing from embarrassment for their whole conversation.

"Who's taking care of the bills?" Ajay asked wiping his mouth with a handkerchief. "It's shared. One person can't afford this kind of restaurant. Why? Do you want to pay?" Kaia asked with a playful voice. Kaia didn't know that he was exactly thinking about doing that.

"No need for that. That ugly couple over there took it upon them. He got accepted by THE AJ EMPIRE, you know." Ravi said pointing towards Manav and Ananya and quickly turned around. He couldn't bear to even glance at them. What a sight for the sore eyes.

Ajay turned to look at them and a smirk appeared on his face, 'AJ Empire?'. He waved his hand at the waiter. The waiter hurried over to him with a menu card. He was still yet to recover from being taken aback by the sudden visit of Ajay. Why didn't anyone tell him that the owner was coming today?

Kaia looked at the waiter with a displeased look. He refused to give him the menu card when she asked for it saying she can't order anything more. No wonder Ananya offered to pay the bills. 'What a cunning bitch. But why was the waiter giving it to Ajay now? Is he into men?'.

Ajay passed the menu card to Diya. Seeing her confused look, he said, "Order whatever you want. This place has the best dessert options.". "But, we are not allowed to.". He smiled at her. "Let's see who's brave enough to not accept your orders. Go ahead.".

Diya could sense what was Ajay thinking. 'Fine. He told me not to worry.'. She browsed through the menu and ordered a chocolate mousse and passed it to Kaia, "Here, order whatever you want.". She then turned to Ajay and whispered in his ears, "Pay for the five of us. That would be your punishment for almost humiliating me.".

Ajay was thinking about how to apologize to her properly but when the opportunity presents itself, he wasn't going to waste it. "Gladly," he said; smiling at her.

Manav and Ananya didn't expect that their showing off will backfire. They clearly ordered the waiter not to accept any more orders but he was not following it anymore and backing out from settling the bills will humiliate them so they had no other choice.

"Diya, Diya, Diya! You just never fail to ruin my plans. I wonder how your husband would react once he knows about your dirty secret.".
