A couple of weeks went by at this pace. I trained in the morning as usual and did my bodyweight exercises, but they seemed to provide me with less and less of a benefit. I would go to classes, as usual, Astronomy got boring quick, no matter how wonderful the night sky was. Herbology was ok, I hated the textbook, and the classes weren't much better either. Potions remained as entertaining as ever with Harry getting constantly bullied by Snape. Funny how the cranky Professor could never find a fault with me and Hermione as we never messed up.
I was unfortunate enough to be looped in with the name-calling. I was soon called a nerd for being at the top of the class and due to our lack of socialisation with the other students. I really didn't mind as long as they kept it civil and didn't go too far.
Hermione still had trouble controlling her impulse to raise her hand up and answer all of the questions, but it was a work in progress. I trained in Occlumency which kept me busy late at night, but I was finally getting proficient at it. I really was trash at it. Drak naturally taught me Legilimency as well, per my request. I found that I was much better at that than I was at Occlumency. It would take a little while, but it would be useful.
There was no change in the quest to find the right potion for enhancing physical strength and therefore decided to change my approach. I started looking, with the help of Hermione, for potions that would increase the recovery rate of the body after Physical exercise. It was difficult to find but Hermione found it at last.
It was a potion that would allow me to double the recovery rate of my body while also increasing the benefits after each training session. The only drawback was that it could only be used every 2 weeks which still was acceptable.
It was currently early October, and I found a loophole in Dumbledore's words. He said that students were not allowed to use magic outside of the classrooms and in the hallway. This simply means that within the parameters of a classroom, Magic was allowed. I told Hermione about it and she was ecstatic at the revelation.
By now we had most of the school memorised which helped tremendously with finding a classroom that was not being used at all. We quickly found one and decided to make this our training spot for the year.
I leaned heavily towards duelling spells such as confringo, Bombarda Maxima which I couldn't do before, reducto and expulso. A very wise man once used a very fitting line. "Art is an explosion". I chuckled at the quote, very fitting.
Hermione on the other hand was much more into Charms and non-attack spells. She practised transfiguration and Occlumency which I introduced to her. I was very regretful of that decision. She was incredibly talented at it and understood the concept almost immediately.
I still forced her to practice some of the important combat spells since they were useful for self-defence.
"You need to practice them, it's for your own benefit" I persuaded.
"But is there really a need? I doubt we will be facing anything?" she rebutted.
I sighed and sat next to the girl.
"Hermione, wands are not just used to clean stuff, turn them into toys. they are weapons that can cause mass destruction, and we are in a world full of them." I said seriously.
She looked at me with a shocked expression.
"But there are laws in place to stop people from hurting others right?" she said
"yes there are, but that does not stop anyone from casting a deadly spell at any second."
She had a despondent look on her face as she thought about my words.
"Fine-fine, I'll do it" she gave in.
After practising spells, I started to think about the need for verbal commands and wand movements. I was able to do wandless levitation charms and cleaning charms which astounded Hermione when I simply waved my hand to clean up the desk and chairs in the room covered in dust.
I tried to do wandless magic with other spells but found it incredibly difficult. Especially spells with combat orientation. I needed much more focus and a higher sensitivity to magic. Drak said that I was already highly sensitive to magic since he was fused with my body. After all, having a being that is made out of pure magical energy inside of you would increase your perception towards magic.
So, the only thing stopping me from doing wandless magic was an enormous amount of practice and acclimatization to the nuances of magic.
It was already late, and Hermione was panting heavily as she leaned her body on the desk behind her.
"How can you… run so… much… without getting tired" she said in between breaths.
I stopped and looked at her with a smile.
"I have been running and doing exercise from a young age which has boosted my physique immensely. MMA has helped with that as well. I suggest you start doing some, It would be very useful even when duelling" I said truthfully.
"Why? Can't I just cast protego and stay still?" she asked curiously.
"Oh? I didn't know that you knew that spell?" I said, genuinely surprised.
Hermione looked embarrassed.
"I-I can't, it was a hypothetical situation!" she said while glaring at me.
"Ohh. it's fine, the reason is that there is no need to cast a spell if you can dodge it. Here, I'll demonstrate what I mean." I said before standing 10 meters away from Hermione.
"Ok, throw a stupefy at me" I said calmly.
Hermione looked at me with glittering eyes. I mumbled a couple of curses at the sight. She totally wanted to get me back for one-upping her constantly.
She stood up and pointed her wand at me with a serious face.
"Stupefy" she yelled before flicking her wand in a certain way.
A red ball of energy came rushing towards me, I dodge to the side quickly before running forward. She threw another one which forced me to slide underneath it before casting a spell of my own.
expelliarmus!" I yelled. A white light shot out of my wand before hitting Hermione's making it fly out of her hands and land in mine. I looked at her with a smile.
"See what I mean. That was without using the protego spell. That isn't to say that you shouldn't use it but having mobility and stamina is very important for many occasions."
She nodded seriously and from this day forward started to implement Physical activity into her daily routine.
An: I completely forgot that the ROR and the Gryffindor common room are on the same floor. There is no excuse. I Will be correcting this issue starting from year two and all training will be held there. Please bear with it until year 2. I have already written 60 chapters and a can't be bothered going back to change them manually in all honesty. Thank you for understanding.
