The tutorial 3

Lliw felt very satisfied as the notifications rang in. He felt satisfied, not proud. He knew that if the skeleton giant wasn't such an idiot, he would have been slaughtered many times over. Its damage was just too much.

" Uhm, guide. That was a boss right?" He asked feeling mentally exhausted yet also very elated at the same time. He felt like how one felt when they'd just overcome a great obstacle.

[Ding!]

[ Yes. That was a 1-star boss. ]

"Ok, can you tell me more about the types of monsters there are" He requested.

[ Request confirmed. ]

[ Monsters are separated by tiers ( normal, elite and boss ) ]

[ Boss monsters are graded into tiers separated by stars. In each zone, there is a limitation on the boss' difficulty. ]

" How much stronger is a 2-star boss compared a 1-star boss?" he asked.

[ A 2-star boss can defeat more than 2 1- star bosses…however, there are exception where a 1-star boss can defeat a 2-star boss. ]

" Ok, lets move onto the next task" he said as he got up from the floor.

Lliw lost his vision for a split second before he found himself in a dark place. It took a second for his eyes to adjust to the dim lighting. He found himself in a deep, dark hole. The hole was at least 20 meters deep. He had an idea what his new task was but he desperately wished he was wrong.

" Ahem, w-what am I supposed to do!" he asked.

[ You already know ]

"…" Lliw was stunned by the system's response. What's with the attitude?

"no, I don't know what you want me to do. How can I? You haven't told me anything" he decided to play dumb.

` krggg' suddenly, the hole sunk by a few meters

"😱" He was shocked. What kind of AI was this?

" you're joking right?" He asked feeling quite surreal.

` krgg`

The hole sunk even deeper.

" ok, ok. Stop, I'll do it " he said, afraid that the AI would continue making things difficult for him.

He walked to the wall and started to climb. There were many half-exposed rocks for him to use as footholds as he made his way up the hole.

1 meter, 2 meters…4 meters. As he climbed higher and higher, the number of exposed rocks he could grab into started to decrease.

With each climb, he had to pause and analyze the rocks up ahead. He was no rock climber but he was no stranger to puzzles. He had played a lot if them growing up. Sometimes, he had to push his body to the limits just to reach the rocks. There were many times that he almost fell, too many in fact. His hands got cut by the rocks and he had to wipe off the blood on his clothes. He felt grateful that he couldn't feel the pain or things wouldn't be so easy.

He steadily climbed up and after a physically challenging hour, he finally climbed up the hole.

The bright light stung his eyes but it was fine after his eyes adjusted to the brightness.

" wheew, that was… fun " he muttered, feeling the satisfaction from overcoming a challenge.

[ Congratulations for completing the task. ]

" Hehe, you're too kind" he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. His cheeks had a faint blush, compliments still made him rather shy…even though it was just a scripted response.

[ Please rest for the next task ]

Lliw was given 15 minutes of respite before his vision changed once more. He was now in the middle of a small yellow brick road. The only thing around was a beautiful field. The sun shine overhead and there was a cool breeze blowing.

" What a perfect place to relax" he said.

" hehe, is this my reward? Not too bad. Just add some magic servant to serve me delicious fruit smoothies." He chuckled.

[ No. ]

" ugh…I was just joking…why do you have to be so cold?" he protested inwardly. He was afraid it's make him do something tedious again.

[ The yellow road you stand upon has many twists, turns and intersections. Only 1 path will lead you to where your next task is. The other paths lead to certain doom. ]

"ah, a test of luck" he said.

Without further ado, he started walking, calmly enjoying the beauty around him. As he walked on and on, he could feel himself getting tired. After nearly 2 hours.. or at least what felt like it, he came upon the first intersection. The path split into 3 paths, each heading their own direction. Lliw didn't even gave to think. He didn't even pause and immediately took the path in the middle. Why? Simple, that was because it was heading straight.

He continued on and another intersection came. He picked the middle path once more.

And again, and again and again.

Finally, after what seemed like a whole day of walking, he found a door in the middle of the path. He opened it and cautiously peered inside. He found a rather peaceful scene. Beyond the door, there was a beautiful garden. Flowers of all kinds decorated the garden. There were little critters all around. Without hesitating any further, he entered the wonderland.

As soon as he got through, the door shut on its own and disappeared. He felt a bit nervous but calmed himself pretty quick when he took in his surroundings.

" This is a pretty good place, what do I have to do?" He asked.

[Ding!]

[ An evil necromancer has launched an attack on the castle and while the army of the kingdom are at war with the higher level undead, some weaker undead have managed to enter the castle undetected. The sneaky necromancer has disguised himself as a weaker undead and has successfully infiltrated the castle. There aren't enough capable hands to fend off the pesky undead. There is an important figure in the castle, the undead must not kill them. ]

Quest: protect the VIP in the castle.

Difficulty : B

[Ding!]

[ You have been awarded a magic tool to aid you. ]

[ Please select a weapon category ]

Lliw figure he'd probably receive a magic tool depending on the category he picked.

".. hmm, although I like being in the offensive, I believe a shield would be more appropriate for this quest." He thought.

[ You have selected the shield category ]

[ You have received the < Blessed Shield > ]
