The boy woke up as a giant turtle in the Pacific Rim. This is a story about a guy with a good moral compass. If you want to read how MC destroys cities and sinks ships, then this fanfic is not for you. There will be no magical transformation back into a human. This is my first fanfic. English is not my native language, so I used a translator. In the first chapters, I used GPT for some paragraphs of text, but the result is not satisfactory. Then everything is manual work. I do not own the rights to the universe and characters in this story.
The jet pack was attached to the wall of the room. There were many different metal structures and devices around him. The jet pack was gray in color and had a sleek design. Instead of seat belts, he had huge chains. Each element of these chains had a square shape and from a distance it looked like a belt. Various people were doing something on computers on the floor to the left of the jet pack.
"Not bad! Is everything ready for flight?" Torterra said through sign language and turned back to Raleigh, but he wasn't with him. "Where he?"
After 1 minute, Torterra saw Raleigh running towards him. He watched as the Raleigh covered a distance of 400 meters to him, bypassing the battleship lying in the passage to the room. When the boy was finally near the Titan, he was out of breath.
"What did you say?" Raleigh asked.
"Everything ready for flight?"
"Yes, but you seem to have increased in size, so some changes need to be made. I'm going to talk to those guys now, wait a minute."
While Raleigh was talking to the scientists, Torterra looked around his room. There were spotlights attached to the ceiling and some other strange device in the middle of the ceiling. Cables ran from this device and spotlights across the ceiling toward one of the walls, then down the wall to yet another strange device. This device looked like a huge TV remote with various buttons.
Torterra walked over to this device and pressed the first button with his claw.
Click
The spotlights on the ceiling turned on and the whole room was illuminated with a powerful light. "It's better not to turn on the lights to save on bills." It took a lot of electricity to illuminate such a grand room.
He turned off the light again by pressing the same button. The next button turned on a strange device in the middle of the ceiling and it began to shine onto the wall, projecting an image. It was a very powerful home theater. The picture he showed was a news program.
"… the city suffered from Kaju's latest attack. Despite the fact that the pilots of the Jaegers fought heroically against the monster, the number of victims of this calamity increases with every minute. Our rescuers are working overtime to get the victims out of the rubble."
Torterra pressed another button and the image on the wall changed to a scene from a movie.
AAARRRRGGGG
AAAAAA
You can hear the screams of people fleeing from the strangely shaped monster, which had some neon multi-colored threads sticking out of its mouth. The monster raised its head and then spat out a beam of light that changed its color every second from green to pink and so on. The beam went towards the people and turned them into miniature Kaiju.
"This is some kind of surrealism. If people watch this every day, their brains will melt and they won't need any multi-colored beam for that," thought Torterra.
"You got it figured out! It was Yun's idea to make you a TV so you could know what was going on in the world and learn more about humanity. Although she was worried about the bad effects of television on you," Raleigh said as he approached him.
Getting a TV was Torterra's original goal. He conceived the prospect of gold and came up with a grand plan to barter the gold to not only get the TV, but also to speed up the production of the jet pack. He wondered what people could offer him in exchange for gold.
But now all his plans have collapsed. And all because of this Yun girl. She was quite perceptive and immediately offered to improve Torterra's standard of living. "Should she be called to the island again?" He thought. He needed Mr. Smith to search for gold, but what good was Yun? She constantly asks some questions and films him on camera. He was also worried that she would die here on the island in some accident.
"Since I'm awake, and the next attack is still a few months away, I guess I'll be looking for gold again." Thinking this, he said to Raleigh, "I'll have to go looking for gold again, call Mr. Smith and Yun I guess... If she still wants to shoot videos on the island. What about the jetpack?"
"It will be ready in 30 minutes."
Half an hour later, Titan was standing on the edge of the island with a jet pack on his back. Huge chains firmly fastened the knapsack to his back. Scientists stood by and explained how to control the device during the flight.
"Does it work underwater?" This question bothered him a lot. If water could damage this device, it would put a lot of foundation limitations on it.
"No, it doesn't work underwater yet. But it won't break. Moreover, we would like you not to throw it on the ground, but to land exclusively on water. You just need to get ashore to take off again."
Everything was quite simple. The satchel only emitted fire, and Torterra had a controller in his hand that only regulated the power of the engines. He had to adjust the direction of the flight himself with his hands and tail. It looked too simple. Did they specifically simplify the mechanism for him?
He narrowed his eyes at these scholars and looked at them with displeasure. Do they think he's a fool? The scientists finished talking and quickly gathered their things and went down to the bunker. In general, all employees of the base hid in the bunker.
"Do they know something and not tell me?" Torterra had doubts in his heart. It feels like he was playing the role of a guinea pig.
Collecting his thoughts, he pressed a button on the large cylindrical controller in his hand.
BBRRR
PRRRRR
The jet pack started working slowly, gaining power. At the bottom of the knapsack were two rectangular nozzles from a jet engine. From these nozzles, blue fire burst out, and white smoke filled the entire island.
With each passing second, the Titan felt himself being pulled upwards. He decided to add power, and he felt his feet lift off the ground. The power of the engine fueled by Kaiju blood was phenomenal. In the second part of the movie "Pacific Rim", only one rocket was able to lift Jaeger into the air. The power of this missile was so strong that Jaeger's hand had to be welded to the missile to prevent it from breaking free.
The blood itself was not explosive, but if it was mixed with rare minerals from the earth, people could get a powerful fuel. This was the idea of aliens to destroy humanity. They sent the Kaiju to a volcano in Japan that have the minerals. If the Kaiju were able to get there and spill their blood into the volcano, there would be a massive explosion that would drive humanity to extinction.
Therefore, it was very important that the aliens did not learn the formula of this fuel. In the film, this information was given to them by a traitorous biologist, but now they have no way to find out about it. The marshal keeps all information under strict control.
PPPRRRR
The jet engine screeched as a controlled burn of blue fuel took place inside it. Tortarra climbed slowly but surely. His speed increased with every second. But once he was high enough, he felt his body take an upright position. Instead of flying up, it began to fly parallel to the ocean and then fall headfirst into the water.
The jetpack was on his back, not built into his shell, and this caused the center of mass to shift between him and the engine. The weight of his body was causing him to fall, and the jet pack was pulling him up, causing him to now be falling into the ocean.
BOOOMSHSH
There was a loud splash of water as Torterra fell into the water.
"Damn it! Run!" The people who came out of the bunker to watch the giant's flight panicked and ran back into the bunker. A moment later, a 25-meter wave fell on the island, which swept away everything that was poorly anchored in the ocean. Even the battleship, which was lying on the edge of the island, was washed into the ocean, and it immediately returned to the bottom, from where it was pulled out.
The wave passed over the island, and the residual water gradually drained from the edges of the island.
BAH
The hand of the beast came out of the ocean and stood on the island. After a moment, Torterra placed his other hand on the island and pulled himself up to climb out of the water.
"The first attempt failed. Let's do it again." Although this device was difficult to control, it did not give up. And who would ever give up in their attempts to learn to fly?
He stood on the edge of the island again and pressed a button on the controller in his hand.
BAH BAH BBRRR
At first, the engine was unhappy with the remaining water inside the rocket nozzle, but it worked anyway. The second attempt was better. He gained altitude faster, managing the power more boldly. This time, he put his arms out in different directions, imitating Gamera's manner of flight. His arms acted as wings, and when he lifted his head up and twisted his arms, he could adjust his flight height. But when he tried to turn to the side, his body spun and he fell back into the ocean.
BOOMMSHSHSH
Another wave covered the island, but it was much smaller because Tortrra was able to fly farther this time.
It took him two more tries to learn how to fly the jet pack. Torterra was now flying among the clouds, with his arms out to the sides imitating an airplane. He gently tilted his body to the sides, changing the direction of flight, flying around the white clouds. The sun was shining on his face, and a pleasant breeze was blowing him.
PPRRRR
The engine ran well, making a beautiful sound. This invention of people was very good. "It was worth going to all this trouble with people to get this from them." Torterra enjoyed flying in the sky. He constantly changed the power of the engine for felt the acceleration. After spending half an hour in the sky, he descended to the ocean and flew over it, clinging to the surface of the water with his hand, raising spray into the air.
Raising its head sharply and twisting its arms, it quickly changed its flight direction and began to fly vertically upwards, leaving behind a trail of white smoke.
