Chapter 100 Lilly (15)

"What did you just say?"

"I said, I don't want to go back." Lilly said, her face full of determination and resolve.

Morgan looked at her with a blank face as she asked. "Why, may I ask?"

"I don't want to go back. Simple as that."

"..."

"..."

"Well, this is an awkward situation." Chrys said as he walked closer to Lilly before continuing. "Let's just make things clear here, okay?"

"Morgan, spent all that time convincing me and your just willing to throw all of it away?"

"No, I am grateful for what she has done. But, I do not want to return from where i came from." Said Lilly with her tone not showing a hint of hesitation.

Morgan then approached them saying. "Don't you have a family? What if they come looking for you?"

With a face full of hidden anger, Lilly said. "They won't. All the remaining people here are no longer my family."

Chrys looked at her face directly, after seeing her expression, he sighed before saying. "Don't say that. You only have one family in this world, afterall."

"No. The only people who I considered my family are all dead." Lilly said, slowly letting her anger surface.

Morgan then slapped her face, causing a red mark to appear on Lilly's surprised face, before saying. "Stop being difficult. Children your age should still be with their parents."

And like that, Lilly finally snapped. With tears flowing out of her rage filled eyes, she yelled. "What about you two?! Your only about a couple years older than me, and here you are! Doing what you want! Why can't I do the same?!"

And then, another slap landed on the opposite side of Lilly's face. Omly this time, it was Chrys who slapped her. He then said calmly. "Listen, here..."

"You should consider yourself lucky since you still have people you are able to call your family."

"I told you before! They are no longer my family!"

Chrys remained calm despite Lilly lashing out at him before calmly saying. "Alright, let me ask you a question. Do you think we want this life?"

"Me, Morgan, V, and Set. Do you think any of us wanted to live like this? Without the care of a parent or support from siblings?"

"..."

"The answer is... we didn't. We did not choose this life, it was chosen for us."

"And because of that. Here we are. Trying to trekking a path of revenge, a path of responsibility, a path made by obligation, and a path in hopes for redemption."

"And here you are. Willing to throw everything we desired, a peaceful satisfying life. Don't you see how stupid you are right now?"

"I-" Lilly tried to reply, but she was speechless. So she just bit her lip after hearing Chrys' words.

Chrys then turned his attention to Morgan asking. "You agree with me, right?"

"Yes." Morgan replied with an emotionless tone.

And without even a second later, Lilly screamed. "But still! I am sure of my decision of not coming back to them! I'd rather be alone than to go back to that place!"

"If that's what you want, why did you stay?" Chrys asked.

"Excuse me?!"

"I'm asking, why did you go back there if you hated it so much?"

"I don't understand-"

"We saw you yesterday, all alone, in the middle of the city, without anyone holding you down."

"You had every opportunity to just ran away and never come back. And yet, you came back on your own."

"So I ask, why are you saying this to us now? When you could have left on your own all this time."

"..."

"Do you know why you didn't?"

Lilly still a bit speechless, replied. "I... The thought just simply didn't enter my mind."

"That may be true. But, do you know the REAL reason you didn't leave?"

"..."

"It's because deep down, you didn't want to. You crave to be in your family's presence, like every other child."

Gritting her teeth in frustration, Lilly screamed at his face. "No, I don't want to be with him!"

"I never want to see his face ever again! I'd rather die than be forced to even look in his direction!"

Morgan and Chrys gave her a long, hard look. After seeing her rage-filled, unyeilding expression, Chrys sighed before saying. "Fine. Have it your way."

Then, the stone that encased Lilly's body crashed onto the ground, leaving Lilly just standing there, confused.

Seeing her confusion, Chrys said. "Go on then. I'm giving you a luxury that we cannot afford..."

Then, a hole appeared on the side of the building, letting the warm and breezy outside wrap around Lilly.

"You are being granted... a choice."

Lilly breathed in, letting the cold morning air fill her lungs. She stared at the bright outside through the hole in the wall.

She stared at her dirty palms, let her short, white hair be carried by the wind, allowing the world to see her beautiful face that seemed confused and did not know what to do.

Morgan and Chrys took a step as Chrys said. "Go on. Make your choice, we will respect whatever it is."

Lilly then exchanged glances at Chrys and Morgan, at the hole in the wall, and into her palms.

"Go on, Lilly. Tell me."

Lilly then opened her mouth, feeling all the moisture and air leave her throat as she said. "I-I  want..."

Then, back to the present. Lilly and her mother is sitting in her mother's room, on opposite ends of the table decorated with a full course meal.

Her mother then asked Lilly, who was hiding behind her short, white hair. "Go on, Lilly. Tell me. Tell me the reason you came back?"

And then, Lilly raised her face, showing her mother her face full of dried tears but more importantly, the determination in her face as she replied. "I came back because I want father to accept me. I want him to recognise the person I have become and be proud of me."

Not even a single bit unfazed, her mother then asked. "Is that just another excuse you tell yourself?"

To which Lilly replied. "No. That is my answer. That is what I want. That is... my choice."

"Is that so..."

"Yes. Although something else might have influenced my decision to come here, that is my answer your question."

"..."

Seeing her mother having no more words for her, Lilly turned to the open door lwading outside as she said. "I think it's turning a bit late. You should rest now and take care of your body."

Lilly then stood up, wiped the tears off of her face, and walked outside. She then turned to her mother, who was sipping on her tea with the help of her left hand, and her right amputated hand.

Lilly gave her mother a little bow as she said. "It was nice meeting you finally, mother. Just know, I hold no strong feeling about you."

And then, Lilly's coat transformed into a paper-like material that wrapped around her body. After adjusting to her desired body shape, clothing and color, Lilly left her mother alone camouflaged as a normal looking servant.

Her mother remained in the same position when Lilly presumably left her. She opened her eyes, looked outside where Lilly was standing a couple minutes ago before asking. "Lilly? Are you still there, my daughter?"

Hearing her question go unanswered, her mother let out a defeated sigh. She then returned her attention to the food that has long gone cold. But despite this, she ate it no problem.

And after a while of eating, tears slowly poured out of her eyes. She dropped her chopsticks as she said with her voice wavering. "I'm sorry, Lilly. I'm so sorry."

As her tears slowly made their way to her food, she covered her face with her hands, her left hand on her left eye and her right amputated hand on her right.

As her missing left foot began to ache, she cried. "I'm so sorry, Lilly. I'm sorry, I couldn't be the mother you needed. I'm so sorry."

As the Lady spent the majority of the night crying, somewhere else in the city, Lilly entered an abandoned looking building.

Her face, seemingly newly cleaned with water, was filled with resolve and determination as she walked through the door.

And the first thing that greeted her was a voice asking. "Is everything alright, Lilly?"

The voice came from a man in the corner. His reliable figure sat on a chair as his eyes seemingly glowed a golden glow in the darkness.

Lilly lowered her head, covering her face with her short, white hair as she replied. "I'm fine... Goldie."

To which Chrys replied. "If that's what you say."

"..."

"Everyone is already asleep, so there's no need to worry about anyone seeing you all sad." Chrys said with a mischievous smile.

After seeing his smile through the gaps in her hair, Lilly just ran away without saying a word.

After following her figure disappear in the building with his gaze, Chrys just laid back on his chair, not saying a word. But, a soft, gentle smile is still on his face.
