Back in Time

After I woke up, I had a terrible headache. Moreover, my surroundings did not seem right. I could not recognize much of the language people around me spoke, even though I knew quite a lot of languages due to my travels. It resembled more like an ancient language I had once read about. I tried standing up but ended up fainting again.

Inside my consciousness I met a boy and initiated a tried initiating a conversation with him with a limited amount of language I could remember, which soon became quite tough. So he led me to a palace nearby, which was filled with books. What was strange is that these books were actually memories of that boy, from which I got a general understanding of my situation.

The boy was basically a prince of the Gupta Dynasty, though at this point it was quite disintegrated. His name also happened to be Puru Gupta. The current emperor was Vishnugupta Candraditya, which I remembered was the last ruler of the Guptas. He was his eldest and only son and also had two sisters. Apart from this his family had his mother and grandmother. They had loving familial relations. Although the empire had disintegrated due to decades of mismanagement, the current emperor was smart and clever. Since the time he realized that his family did not even have the control of the treasury, the emperor (at that time a prince) had invested in various businesses and trades anonymously. Over the years his businesses had grown phenomenally according to the economy of tis era, it was still not enough for the emperor to completely overcome the threats of various traitors around his family. The prince, was also smart for his age. Although he was not involved the state affairs, he was smart enough to recognize his family's situation. Still, due to a slight carelessness and politics played by the ministers, in the tenth year of his father's reign, his father was forced to remove him from the kingdom.

Although he removed his son, he released, it was nothing but politics, hence he gave him a decent sum of gold mudras (the currency, will be referred to as coins hereafter), and told me to start accumulating wealth, influence and strength so that we could protect our family and regain our influence. He sent him to the west, which I presume will be in the State of Maharashtra in the future, and suggested to do some business there. He reached there with a group of traders who were travelling in that direction. However, as soon as he arrived at his destination, he was attacked. While he had excellent fighting skills, he was no match for 15 adult assassins. Somehow, they were only able to wound him slightly severely, and in the end threw him in the river, at which point he had lost consciousness. On waking up, a strange phenomenon occurred and I had occupied his body.
