Chapter Thirty-Eight

They were on their way home, exhausted from running around the cafe all day Kate had her eyes closed trying to relax before she had to go back to Ollie's and the rest of the goddesses when a loud sound exploded from the roof. Amanda, who was behind the wheel, jumped and the car jerked to the side and Percy cursed from the back seat.

"What the hell was that?" Kate asked looking behind them, she didn't see anything but she was sure something large had hit the roof of the car.

"I have no idea, I didn't see anything but I heard it hit the car," Amanda said straightening the car out as she glanced in the rearview mirror. They stayed silent each of them keeping an eye out for whatever had hit them. A harsh shriek filled Kate's hands flying to her ears, she looked at Amanda who didn't seem to hear it but when her eyes met Percy's she knew something was very wrong.

"What is it, Percy?"

"What's what?" Amanda looked quickly at Kate and Percy her eyes filled with rising panic.
