An Earthquake?
Her eyes strayed and looked for Lu Jingren.
He was very quiet and his hands were in his pockets. His eyes were closed. The serene look on his face was a little dazzling which made people feel like they were looking at a lifelike figure from a painting.
As if he could feel her eyes on him, his eyes snapped open and met her gaze. He walked over.
"The car." He said without an explanation but she noticed an urgency in his voice.
"Boss Ren, is there something wrong?" Mu Qianmo asked.
"The car." Lu Jingren repeated, looking at Lilian Mo. Just when she was about to ask him the reason, she stiffened and a horrid stench assaulted her nose.
She no longer delayed and got the Marauder out.
"Get inside. Now." She told the others.
"Momo, what's wrong?" Mu Qingqing questioned, noticing her odd behavior but Lilian Mo grabbed her hand and pushed her inside the Marauder.
"Inside. NOW!" She repeated, startling the rest of them.
The guys turned to Lu Jingren who only nodded. He also went to open the Marauder.
Not really understanding the two people's reasons for doing this, they all hastily got inside the car.
"Jiaojiao, take Xiao Ji inside. I'll be on the roof." Lilian Mo said and before Mizuki Rei could get inside the car, Lilian Mo grabbed the back of his collar.
"You're coming with me."
Mizuki Rei was dumbfounded. This girl's strength was really scary. He wasn't even given any room to struggle before he was thrown on top!
"Lilian Mo! Are you out of your mind?" He shouted, rubbing his back.
Lilian Mo handed the key to Fu Yangzhu. "You wanted to drive, right?" She jumped on the roof, joining Mizuki Rei.
"Then drive as fast as you can to the north!"
"Sister-in-law, I don't really get why but you can count on my driving skills!" Fu Yangzhu boasted, climbing on the driver's seat. They still did not know why they were getting on the car and wanted to ask her but this question was soon answered when they felt the earth trembling.
The moment everyone got into the car, they suddenly felt a chill run down their spine.
"Yangzhu, drive. Now." Lu Jingren who was usually not outspoken suddenly ordered Fu Yangzhu and with this, he finally stepped on the pedal.
"Lilian Mo! Are you trying to kill me?" Mizuki Rei shouted as he held onto the car, not wanting to get thrown off. He almost wanted to cry! Fu Yangzhu could never be trusted to drive! This was not sports racing! That guy was going to kill them!
He still wanted to live a long life!
Lilian Mo pinched his ear and twisted, making him yelp.
Inside the car, the rest of the team could hear Mizuki Rei's screams. Some of them shivered but that quickly disappeared when another vibration on the ground was felt. This one was longer than the previous one and was also continuous.
"An earthquake?!" Fu Yangzhu shouted as he gripped the wheel tightly.
That was also what the rest thought.
"Drive faster." Lu Jingren repeated.
"Yangzhu, do as the Boss says." Mu Qianmo said, knowing that the Boss wouldn't do anything unnecessary.
A scream from the rooftop startled them. It was Mizuki Rei.
"Fxck! This is why it stinks!" They heard him curse. They also realized the horrid stench of decay which made them wrinkle their nose.
Mu Qingqing gasped as she looked behind the car. Lin Jiaojiao did the same. Her eyes widened at what she saw.
"AHHH!" Zhang Youji who saw this through Lin Jiaojiao's memory also let out a startled yelp. By now, everyone had glanced behind and what they saw made them curse under their breath.
Lilian Mo stood at the roof, her arms covered with fire.
"A beast tide."
She said while looking at the group of mutant rodents of varying sizes, chasing after them. Fu Yangzhu who was driving saw it as well and was shocked. He now understood the reason why the Boss suddenly spoke urgently.
Without any more delays, he stepped on the gas and increased the speed of the Marauder. Even if it was his first time driving it, he was a car maniac and had looked around the car when Mizuki Rei was driving while he watched with envy.
He looked at the fuel gauge and could see that there was still a sizeable amount but will it last long enough for them to escape the horde of rats? He wasn't sure but until then, he would do his best to drive them to the north.
"Damn, so many rodents! There weren't any at all just now, where did these ugly things come from?" Mizuki Rei now understood why Lilian Mo pulled him to the roof.
"We need to kill the ones that get close to the Marauder." Lilian Mo told him, throwing a fireball at a rodent that had speeded their way towards them.
The small ones were extremely fast but the ones with large body mass were slow. Still, that did not make things any safer for them because they were the ones who caused the most vibrations on the ground.
Mizuki Rei cringed. "These things are so disgusting! They smell horrible! Fxck!"
Lilian Mo threw him a gas mask which he did not refuse, feeling that he might die from the suffocating smell. The smell of garbage, sewage, and decay in a mix was enough to make him puke his guts out. It was worse than the roasted smell of a dead body!
The horde of rodents continued chasing them unabated.
"Have you ever eaten mutant meat?" Lilian Mo lazily asked.
Her words stunned Mizuki Rei. He looked between her and the horde of mutants, feeling as if he was about to vomit from her question alone.
Mizuki Rei was a foodie but he had never contemplated eating rat meat even if China was a big consumer of it! He couldn't even stand eating natto even when he had Japanese origins!
Seeing these things made him feel disgusted and he summoned the courage to eliminate them. He would definitely take a bath after this! The smell was clinging to his skin, it was a nightmare!
The smell was indeed enough to make people puke but this wasn't the worse thing that Lilian Mo had experienced and she was accustomed to all kinds of smell. When you want to survive, a human's most powerful skill is their ability to adapt.
