Canis Family

(Bedeila means the high one or strength in Irish.)

Bedeila sat up in bed surrounded by 5 wolves who were all snuggling with her. She was wearing a black tank top and shorts while she sighed awake.

"Always 5."

She felt someone chewing on her tail and saw that Fenris had his tail in her mouth.

Even if the wolf bit down on it full force she would not feel it.

"Buddy, your getting drool on my fur."

He let go with a sheepish look on his face. She ran her had down his back as she did. It mind.

"Don't worry about it."

She dragged herself out of bed and saw it was exactly 5 AM. She overheard her father sitting up in bed as well. Their internal clock always woke them up early even if they tried to sleep in.

Only when they were dead tired would they sleep longer than a few hours as their bodies did not need it.

"Now, what is on tod-"

She heard a series of annoying beeps from her mask making her sigh. She reached up and removed it from her face and saw that the battery was running low.

'Its been a year already?'

The instant the mask was off she felt the empowerment occurring to her flames, but this would only take a minute or two. She only needed to change the battery once a year as it was another invention of her great grandfather.

The mask was waterproof, nearly unbreakable, and light. She could even shower with it on, but she preferred not to. It was even comfy.

"Let's see."

She placed her pointer finger to scan her fingerprint. A deep guttural voice came from the mask. It was a recording of her great grandfather Mathew's voice. His company had made her mask and gave her sole access to its internals.

<Bedeila Canis confirmed. Password.>

"I never lose. Either I win, I learn, or die."

<Access granted.>

The battery port opened up to reveal a green glowing battery. It was kind of dim as this mask was given to her last year. It was the newest design made for her specific needs. She walked to her desk and placed the battery on the charging station.

She loved the color green as her coat was green. However meeting Green Kid made her hesitate as he was weird.

'Maybe changing color for now is not so bad.'

She felt changing thinned up would not be bad.

"What color do I go with this year?"

She had blue, green, red, purple, and black to choose from.

"Blue it is."

When she placed the glowing battery in her mask the whole thing closed up and changed color. The glowing lights turned from green to dark blue. She reached up and put the mask back on before taking a breath.

"There we go."

She walked out the door and saw her dad in just a pair of shorts. When he saw the color change in the lights of the mask he knew she changed the battery. He also overheard the voice of his grandfather.

"Morning, so you chose blue this time?"

"I just realized it has been a year I have been wearing green. I will use blue this year, or I will change back to green."

He nodded as she walked down the stairs followed by the other 5 wolves.

"I think my grandfather will give you a new version of that mask when you head over to America. He is always improving his trade."

She followed him down the stairs as she left her coat and scarf down there. Connor placed a coffee pot on the stove as he popped his neck. Just as he was going to reach in the fridge for some food the phone rang.

Both of their ears twitched as Connor picked up his phone. When he saw who was calling his face paled. It was his dad, Jack. He did not hesitate to toss the phone to Bedeila who answered for him.

"Gramps Jack, good to see you again."

He also had just woken up, but his face lost it;s edge when he saw his granddaughter.

"Bedeila, where is my shit son. I got some firm words for that brat."

She saw her dad shaking his head, but Jack grunted.

"CONNOR! I KNOW YOU'RE IN THE ROOM! I CAN HEAR YOUR BREATHING!"

Connor walked behind Bedeila wiht a smile.

"Dad? When did you call?"

Jack snorted as he saw his shameless son.

"You called me yesterday to ask what do I think about training Bedeila for the next 9 months right? Well, I accept, but Bedeila you will be treated just like one of my soldiers. I can't spoil you as I normally do. As much as I want to."

She smiled as she did not mind it.

"Don't worry about it grandpa. I don't mind as I am going with you for a good reason. Even though being a hero is just something I am doing for fun and to follow in my mom's footsteps, I want to be the best at it. Go long or go home as we always say."

Jack laughed at her words.

"That is the spirit. You will join me in Alaska at Forst Richardson. During WW3, Alaska was a hub for training troops in extreme environments. As such it has some of the best training facilities to date and most of my soldiers train here.

Even now we are stationed there to get ready to push into Russia if another war breaks out."

Bedeila felt glad it was Alaska as it was the most comfortable for her. Connor also liked that idea as he lived out there for years with his dad. His childhood was spent training with his dad's troops so he knew what she could expect.

He looked at Jack who was drinking some black coffee.

"Dad, you are the best so I won't say a thing. Bedeila, be ready for 9 months of hell. I trained since I was 5 until dad let me go on vacation when I was 15. 10 Years vs 9 months is a easy choice."

Jack chuckled.

"Your mom wants you back here. She ain't getting any younger."

A frying pan was thrown at his head that he dodged.

"WHO YOU CALLING OLD BASTARD!"

Jack laughed as his wife, Bedeila's grandmother took the phone from him. She was tall and had short hair like Bedeila, but it was dark brown. She even looked human and more importantly, appeared to be in her late 30s. She was actually 70. as her quirk was high-speed regeneration that she pushed to its limit.

While her quirk was only regeneration she was strong enough to break steel with her bare hands. She also sought to awaken her quirk, but it still was not achieved yet. It was a goal those who wanted it sought, but might never achieve.

All the top countries were actively searching for ways to speed up the process, but so far only training and life and death moments could speed up the process. That trait of her quirk was passed down to both Connor and Bedeila as the werewolf quirk was all-encompassing. It evolved and adapted to the wielder which is why they got stronger as time went on.

"Bedeila, Connor, it's been a while since you visited me and Jack. Connor, how about you visit your dear old mom while Bedeila is here?"

"Hi, granma Jenna. I missed you."

"Sure mom. I will head over. Is grampa going to be there?"

Jack nodded.

"Of course, my dad is not going to miss his great-granddaughter after all. He spoils her rotten after all."

When Jenna heard her only son and granddaughter were both coming over she felt glad. As for spoiling Bedeila, it was something they were all guilty of. She earned it as she was the pride and joy of their family. Bedeila loved all of her relatives despite only having a few. Her mother was an orphan so she never met them, but she still had all her dad's side of the family.

"Grandma, how have you been since the last time I was over in America? Honestly"

She stopped smiling as she sighed.

"Bored. Being a soldier in this mostly peaceful time is boring. Sure we get sent against terrorists every now and then, and some villains, but that is boring. Better than 50 years ago when that freak All For One was out and about."

Jack stopped grinning as he remembered that. It was before the birth of Connor as he had only been 32, 50 years ago.

"Yeah, he was amassing power in Japan, but he was afraid to leave. Here in America during that time, we have one All Might level soldier. He has retired now, but his son is in my Division. Trust me, he lives up to his dad's tile. America's ace."

Jenna nodded.

"We have two such people these days. We still got that Cathleen gal. A shame she is a hero and not a soldier though. We are still training more soldiers to reach that level to get ready for the eventual shit post that is humanity. All it will take is someone to do something stupid."

Jack snorted

"Isn't that the truth, Well if there is nothing else I will be heading for the shower."

"Wait for me."

Jenna hung up as she and her husband were still sexually active and had no shame about it. Connor and Bedeila coughed as they decided to ignore that. Connor looked at himself as he decided to head out early to patrol.

"It's early, but crime never sleeps. Are you interested in coming with me? I feel this is a good opportunity."

Hearing he wanted to take her along made her happy.

"Of course, I will go. I don't get many chances to use my quirk on villains."

She ran up stairs to take a shower and get dressed. Connor himself went to his room as he needed to get dressed as well. He was in shorts and no shirt as his fur was good enough. Bedeila like usual took no more than 7 minutes to shower before she got dressed.

When she got out her dad was waiting for her by the wolves' bowls. He had already fed them and now he was just waiting for his daughter. When he saw she wore her green coat and black scarf he smiled as that scarf was nit from his fur.

His wife shaved his back for it and told him she needed it for Bedeila's gift. Did not mean that he was not miffed about having a chunk of his beautiful fur missing.

"You ready to head out?"

"Of course. Lead the way."

He walked out the door wiht her in tow. The first thing he wanted to teach her was the way he found crime.

"Most heroes find crime from within their area. I don't do that as I use my nose, my ears, my eyes, and this radio strapped to my chest. It is tapped into police chatter so even if I do not hear crime I will know where it is. You know my rule."

She nodded.

"When you find a villain committing a crime worthy enough you cripple him. If it is petty theft, scare them till they piss themselves."

Connor laughed as he started to use his claws to climb a building. Bedeila followed next to him and when they made it to the roof he explained the simple reason they were up here.

"The higher you are the better vantage point for the wind it is. Remember, the furthest we can on average smell is 3 miles. More with the right wind conditions, but you got to learn to decern smells. I never asked, but does your mask mess with your sense of smell?"

"No. Granddad Mathew made sure that was not impeded in anyway. If anything my mask can actually help me smell better as it filters out pollution as well."

When Connor heard that he snorted.

"Old coot never gave me something like that. At least he gave me this suit. Come on then, let's cripp- I mean retire some villains."

They both jumped to the next building on all fours to where they heard and smelled trouble. While Bedeila was getting real experience in, most of her competition was still asleep.

She knew that U.A would be full of the best so she wanted to be at the top of the best. Nothing less would be good enough for Bedeila Canis.
