It's Just the Beginning of the Nightmare

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Jonathan doesn't know how many times he pulled the trigger, but the magazine of his weapon was completely empty, and the body of that Proto Tyrant T-001 shattered after the truly thunderous explosion.

He didn't know why, but he felt that surviving all these things was incredibly difficult. The levels weren't balanced, and it seemed as if he was in an impossible level to pass. But now that they had killed the Proto Tyrant T-001, he could finally breathe easily and relax a bit.

"These things appear wherever we are. It seems like they somehow always know where we are..." Rebecca couldn't believe it. All of this seemed to be the development of a bad nightmare from which you can't escape.

"We still have a long way to go; we must keep moving forward." Billy remained unfazed now that he knew the entire mansion was infested with dangerous monsters wanting to end their lives. He simply continued forward after reloading the empty magazine with bullets.

In the depths of the facility, countless human skeletons were scattered on the ground in a corner.

Obviously, this is where Marcus conducted experiments on humans.

When Jonathan looked at this scene, he felt no emotion that affected him. Compared to what he had experienced before, this scene was absolutely nothing to him. He had more than enough to worry about becoming infected than looking at bones whose owner he didn't know.

"These damn..." Billy muttered angrily, looking at Jonathan sideways as if wanting to know what his reaction would be.

"Human experiments, nothing new in big government-backed companies... If not chimpanzees, then humans; that's the unwritten rule among researchers," murmured Jonathan as he delved into his role as a researcher.

Rebecca looked at Jonathan and said, "Are you okay with that? You don't seem like the kind of man who feels nothing when seeing these kinds of scenes."

"You hold me in high esteem; believe me, I'm no different from other selfish humans. But I'm honest, and that's something many don't have. At least I can tell you that I agree with experimenting on chimpanzees and then on humans just to discover the cure for cancer..."

Jonathan, who said this example, smiled slightly. That response would be the same as he would give even being himself before coming here. But what he would think is that there is already a cure for diseases that are supposedly incurable, only that many don't let these medicinal cures come to light because it's a business.

Everything, in the end, has to do with money, power, and resources...

"Let's get out of here..." After calming down a bit and catching his breath, Jonathan moved to the side of Billy to cover his back in case an enemy came out of nowhere.

"Yes." Rebecca nodded, occasionally looking behind her back in fear that an enemy would attack them without warning.

In this underground facility, there aren't many zombies.

But soon, Jonathan saw a scene more unsettling than the scattered bones before.

After pushing to open a door in front of the group, the entire room was instantly covered in leeches.

An intense feeling of phobia took over Jonathan's entire body in an instant, not out of fear but due to disgust.

"What the hell is this!"

In the hallway on the second floor of the room, a mysterious man dressed in white slowly emerged. He was the younger version of Marcus who had tired of all the living in this place.

"Welcome... I'm glad you've all voluntarily joined this celebration." As he walked, he said softly, "You are distinguished guests, enjoy the banquet to your liking, and don't forget that you are in your home."

After finishing speaking, he smiled coldly.

Then his entire face changed, slowly turning into the appearance of the old Marcus.

The leech queen who maintained Marcus's appearance began to shed its previous form.

"Ten years ago..."

However, at the moment he was about to make his introduction, Jonathan had already taken the grenade launcher and aimed it in his direction.

"Couldn't give a shit about the life you've chosen. If you decide to get in our way, I'll blow you to a thousand pieces!" Jonathan said with fierce eyes. He was tired of constantly encountering problems, so now that he had control, he prepared himself.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Without waiting any longer, Jonathan took the lead and squeezed the trigger of the grenade launcher without hesitation. The deafening explosions made Billy and Rebecca cover their ears. Jonathan's sudden action was unexpected, but they also began to shoot without any reservation.

Why does Jonathan need to hear something he already knows and from a psychopath experimenting on humans? He wasn't in a game; he didn't want to hear anything that would waste his time. All he wanted was to get out of here as soon as possible. He wouldn't waste time listening to senseless nonsense from that man who was actually a monster. What he would do was eliminate everyone who threatened his life without hesitation.

Rooaaaarrr!

Marcus became enraged, and while trying to withstand the massive explosions, his body changed its appearance to that of a huge mass of flesh resembling a leech.

"Now, the main cocktail..." Jonathan murmured with a sweaty expression. His trembling hands quickly grabbed the bazooka he had prepared earlier and aimed it.

"As Billy mentioned, this should be shot this way..." Jonathan fixed the sight on the smoke in the distance. When he saw the flesh ball crawling slowly forward, he pulled the trigger.

Booom!

The sound of a massive explosion echoed underground, shaking all the walls.

Jonathan, who was stunned, didn't stop. He threw away the useless bazooka and grabbed his AK in panic, as if he believed that Marcus in monster form might have survived.

"Don't stop, this thing is different from the others!" Jonathan, who saw the Leech Queen fall to the ground, warned of the threat and fired again.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

In the original story, that thing changed its appearance twice, so now that it was in its first phase, it could still evolve and cause them unexpected problems.

Billy, who witnessed Jonathan's frenzy, began shooting. He didn't stop because he didn't know when to, and when he saw the movements of that thing, he quickly crouched to the backpack and took several incendiary grenades.

Boom! Boom!

Jonathan's eyes had been filled with madness for a long time. His numb hands, due to the recoil, didn't stop shooting. After his magazine was empty, he switched to another and emptied it again into the Leech Queen's body.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Rebecca, who had been shooting for minutes, stopped. But when she saw Jonathan still firing, she thought something was wrong. Why were they shooting if that thing seemed to be burning due to the incendiary grenades?

However, Jonathan couldn't explain his thoughts right now while in the midst of eliminating something that could end his life. There was no reason to stop; he didn't want to, and he wouldn't until he believed that thing couldn't move.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Click!

After firing the last bullets, Jonathan, who had entered a kind of frenzy, continued firing even though his gun was empty, so only an annoying "click" that didn't stop being pressed was heard.

Billy, who looked at Jonathan's sinister expression, knew what was happening. Now that he had experienced all kinds of things, it seems he was suffering some psychological symptoms.

Jonathan's aggressiveness was not normal; post-traumatic stress disorder was normal in wars, and this was no different from being in a jungle surrounded by enemies. In fact, this was worse because the things he faced were not human.

"He's dead, Jonathan..." Billy said, lowering the weapon in Jonathan's hands that kept pointing at the monster.

"I'm fine..." Jonathan said as he crouched, stabilized his vision, and then walked to the distant freight elevator.

After getting on the freight elevator, Jonathan reloaded his weapon, began filling the empty magazines with the remaining ammunition, and at that moment, a deafening siren sounded within the facility.

Beep-beep! Beep-beep!

Jonathan frowned and murmured, "It should be the self-destruct system located in the research laboratory; someone must have activated it, so we need to get out of this place quickly."

Since there was no pursuit by the Leech Queen, the ascent to the surface was very calm.

When the trio exited the facility, the sun had already risen, marking the beginning of a new day.

They had survived, something Jonathan had considered impossible.

"We're finally out..." Rebecca murmured as she fixed her eyes on a mansion in the distance.

Jonathan smiled slightly and looked at his hands with multiple wounds. He felt the burning sensation along with the pain, but there was no sign of disgust on his face. On the contrary, he felt alive.

"You should find a way to get out of here; following me now could result in your death." Jonathan looked at Billy and said, "Things at this point will get fatal. The Umbrella Corporation is a powerful company that will do anything to cover up what happened here, so reporting this won't make any sense."

Rebecca on the side looked at Jonathan and asked, "Won't you escape with us?"

"I can't. I need to go to that mansion to finish things on my own. On the other hand, you should get out of here. As a member of S.T.A.R.S, they will soon send another team after losing contact with yours, so reinforcements will arrive soon."

Jonathan had survived hell, so he couldn't be so reckless as to involve Billy, who would be incriminated in the events here. It wouldn't go well if he followed him.

Billy looked at Jonathan and handed him the bag with the weapons, then said, "What do you think will happen?"

Jonathan smiled and said, "I don't know, but you should escape from this city as it won't be safe. Take this bank card; I don't know how much money is in that account, but use it to get out of here and prepare yourself. The infection won't stop in this place, and you're sure things could get even worse."

After saying that, Jonathan took the weapons bag and started descending the slope toward the forest. He had to hurry; he needed to complete the rest of the missions, and for that, he needed to go to the mansion.

But just as he was descending, he heard footsteps behind him, and when he turned around, he saw Rebecca following him with a determined look.

"You could die, don't you care?" Jonathan asked with a slight calmness in his voice. At least he wasn't going alone to the living hell.
