Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

One Issue Down

In the police station located in the city, a police officer had been placed in charge of investigating a case regarding vandalization. At first, he thought that it wasn't going to be something too serious, that he could simply just pass the case onto one of his subordinates to deal with since there were much bigger crimes to deal with across the city.

However, upon reading what was written on the vehicle, he suddenly changed his mind regarding the case.

'Someone wants this family dead?' he questioned himself, taking a sip of his coffee as he worked on a bunch of files on his table. 'And to think that I imagined this case would be something meager. I guess I have to get involved to solve this case, and keep this family safe.'

Later that morning, he planned on heading down to the scientific part of the station where a group of scientists were busy collecting evidence from the vehicle. Hopefully, with enough searching, there would be able to find things such as fingerprints, hair strands, or other pieces of DNA that can help them find who exactly is the culprit.

Once he was done with his breakfast, he and a couple other police officers got into their vehicles and drove out to stop a crime taking place somewhere in the city after receiving Intel from someone working in a nearby store.

Arriving at the store, they could immediately see the people inside through the window screaming and begging for mercy as the criminals took away whatever they saw as valuable. One of the customers even decided to stand up to the criminals, getting ready to deliver a punch when a gunshot was heard, and the woman fell to the floor, flat on her face as a hole could be seen going through her head, blood tainting the tiled floor from her injury.

"Please! D-don't kill us! You can take everything! Take my stock! My money! Heck, you can even kill these useless people. Just spare my own life, please!" The owner of the store begged the criminals, knowing full well that none of them in the store were strong enough to fight against them.

There only option of making it out of this situation was either by being co-operative, or for the authorities to arrive just in time to save them. Fortunately, it was the latter that happened, as the police officers quickly surrounded all the entrances and exits, and before any of the criminals could fire their weapons, one of the policemen ran into the store at a speed faster than the man could keep up with.

He grabbed hold of the gun before another bullet could be fired, and with his superior strength, he was able to yank the weapon out of the criminal's hand, before whacking him across the head with the back end of the gun.

"Hey! None of you move!" One of the criminals yelled out. Looking at the tattoos going up his arms, the policemen assumed him to be the leader since he stood out the most amongst them. Quickly, the other men rushed towards them, grabbing hold of their guns before anymore lives would be wasted.

The criminals were overpowered, and most of the people were safe, with the exception of the woman who thought it would be a good idea to challenge them on her own. She paid for her wreckless actions, being too impatient to wait for proper assistance to arrive.

Once everything had been settled, the policemen handcuffed the criminals and escorted them to their vehicles before driving back to the station to have them locked up. Now that the issue had been dealt with, the policeman decided to head down towards the science branch of the station to see what evidence had been gathered regarding the case he had been assigned to solve.

He was now standing in a large room where a bunch of people wearing lab attire were hard at work undergoing all manners of experiments. Off to another corner of the room, the damaged car could be seen, as well as a bunch of people could be seen working to gather whatever information they could from the damaged car to help them solve the case.

Whatever information they would find, they would cross-reference that with the information they could bring up regarding the citizens of the city. From there, they could find seone who matches the evidence they find, thus bringing them towards their culprit.

"So what do we have here? I can see you two are really focused on finding evidence?" He said, walking towards the people working on the vehicle. "So what have you guys found?"

___________

It had been a while since Kevin had been fighting. A lot of the students were thinking how much longer it would take till his body runs out of Mana. Still, despite all of this, it was clear that the teenager still had a lot of power left to show in the fight.

The principal was quite impressed with his resilience. Despite sustaining a multitude of wounds from him, he was still able to push through all the pain and continue fighting.

For a moment, the principal considered ending the fight before one of the students got hurt, but then, the urge to keep the fight going kicked in, causing him to ignore everything that was around him, his eyes fully focused on the student rushing towards him.

Maya was thinking back at the choices she had made in the past. What if her feelings for Kevin were just her response to someone finally showing kindness towards her within the harsh walls of the school. What if her feelings towards him aren't even real in the first place.

There was an internal struggle going on in her mind as an intense headache overcame her.

Stacy was starting to wonder whether or not the principal was giving Kevin a piece of his mind back in the hallway as a number of thoughts were racing in her mind.

Once she had placed her friend on one of the clinic beds, instead of heading back to class, she decided to sit beside her for sometime. She could tell that something was seriously disturbing her, as Maya hadn't laid down her head to rest. Instead, her eyes were heavily fixated on the wall in front of them.

'I hope you manage to get over all this soon,' Stacy thought, heaving out a sigh.

"I think it's time I end this," the principal said, a large mass if black aura forming and moving rapidly around both his hands. Kicking his feet against the ground, his entire body shot forward, moving faster than he had ever moved during the fight, his fist meeting Kevin against his face.

'What the-?! He… he wasn't this fast before. I was right! This old man was just holding back his strength! If I can't think of a way to counter, then I'm screwed,' Kevin thought, raising his hands to deliver his own punches.

However, with his speed, the principal quickly moved out of the way, and before Kevin could react, the same thing happened again, and again, and again.

The principal was now taking the fight a lot more seriously than he did at the start.

With each blow, Kevin was finding it hard to even stand, as his legs and his entire body would sway from side to side, and now, with the forth blow, Kevin had fallen towards the ground, his body showing no signs of getting back up soon enough.

Everyone in the hallway was dead silent. Of course, the way the fight had ended was the expected result, but that didn't change the fact that it wasn't the ending that they all wanted.

It wasn't like they could do anything to change the outcome, anyway.

The fight had come to an end. Ordering some of the students to drag his unconscious body towards his office, the principal made his way there as well. Also, Stacy had decided to step out of the clinic room and head towards the principal's office, also.

She was the first to make it there, and upon noticing the other people stepping in, her eyes widened upon seeing yep students dragging Kevin's unconscious body into the office, and following right behind them, was none other than the principal of the school.

"What brings you to my office today, Miss Voon?" The principal inquired, taking a seat in his chair which was directly facing her, except for the table that was in-between the both of them. "What can I do for you today?"

As much as she liked the hospitality he was showing her, she had no time to beat around the bush and went straight to the point as to why she came here. She told him about the student that was harrasing her, and also what had happened to her friend.

"Well, I can tell you that one of those issues have been dealt with," he said, glancing at the unconscious body in the room.
