Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

A Clash

The principal was wondering just how it was possible for such a student to possess such power at such a young age. Sure, there were teenagers from different schools around the country that had incredible power even before joining a military academy, he wasn't expecting one of the students, whose parents he knew personally, to have such power.

In other words, he knew Kevin and his family well enough to know that he wasn't supposed to be as perfect as he currently was.

"How did you get so strong so quickly?" He suddenly asked, pausing himself from the fight. "I know you're not actually this powerful, so what happened? How did you become so powerful in such a short amount of time?"

He was wondering this because it was weird how the student was able to keep up with him. Although he wasn't going all out in the fight, he was still surprised that Kevin was able to keep up with him at the level he displayed.

Not giving an answer, he dashed forward once again with his fists covered with flames. Unrelenting, he swiped them left, right, pretty much in all sorts of directions as his gaze was heavily fixated on his opponent.

The principal, still wanting to.learn more about this student's powerup, decided not to add any more power behind his strikes. He wanted to see just how far he could push the student before finally finishing him off.

But more importantly, he saw potential in someone who could perhaps become someone strong enough to go against the Shales and their forces in the future.

Seeing as her best friend was barely able to stand, Stacy decided to pick her up and rush her towards the school nurse to receive treatment. Meanwhile, the other students did nothing but remain standing while watching the fight.

____________

Somewhere in a different part of the city, a couple days before the incident which had taken place in Black Saber Highschool, Agent Nero had decided to personally go out into the battle field to put a stop to the Shale before any more of the city got destroyed.

And moreover, majority of the soldiers sent out to deal with the threat had already been killed, and the generals who she was working with chose not to get any more involved with the affairs regarding the city than they already were.

Meaning that she was the only one left who was available to help put a stop to the threat. Arriving onto the battlefield, she immediately took note of the area around her. The damaged cars, buildings, and the road leading ahead. Everything in that part of the city had been destroyed by the Shale.

Not wanting anymore destruction to take place, she quickly rushed towards the area where the fighting was still taking place. Seeing the Shale standing before her, ready to deliver a massive attack, she dashed forward, activating her ability as her eyes went completely white, and a strange aura surrounded her entire body.

She pulled her fist back, ready to deliver a blow to its head. At the speed she was running at, she hoped that it would help in dealing with the creature. Before any of the soldiers could even blink, a loud bang was heard as the Shale's body swung backwards, though it quickly regained its footing while swiping its arms around the air.

It was hoping that the human should still be standing in the same spot, but while swinging its arms, all it managed to hit was the air all around them.

"What the-?" It was cut off as a foot connected with the back of its head, pushing its body off its feet and into the air, flying towards the sky as Agent Nero followed closely behind it on land.

As its body got closer to the ground, she leapt into the air, delivering a strong kick to Its back that sent it flying higher up into the air. Then, bending down her knees, she pushed off against the ground, heading straight into the air like a rocket, quickly meeting up with the Shale and striking it with her arms on both sides of its head.

"Can you guys see that?! She's actually managing to overpower the thing!"

"I can see that! But how is she able to do that? Is she really that strong?"

The soldiers down below were discussing amongst themselves, while they went to work trying to restore their Mana as quickly as they could so that they wouldn't be completely useless in the fight. Now that Agent Nero was keeping the alien busy, it gave them the time they needed to regain back as much Mana as they could.

These soldiers were once students in military academies, so they were well aware of the ways to help restore their Mana during crucial moments like these.

Up in the air, Agent Nero was delivering blow after blow at the creature, hanging onto its body tightly, not wanting for it to get a chance to cast one of its spell to help it out in the current situation.

With each blow she would land, blue blood could be seen spewing from its mouth, eyes, and every other openings all over its body. Whenever she saw it trying to use its magic, she would strike at whatever area where the magic was coming from, causing the alien great pain while also preventing it from fighting back.

It looked like she was going to win this fight without much trouble.

Back in the underground room, the generals were watching the fight going on from their seats, while making a bunch of comments here and there about the fight. Still, they were all glad that it wasn't one of them out there who had to fight that thing.

They all knew that Agent Nero was the only one strong enough to fight that thing.

She delivered a kick to the side of its body, knocking it towards the ground. As its body hit the ground, a loud bang followed, along with the gathering of a large mass of dust shrouding the area where it had fallen. Quickly following behind it, she readied her leg to strike it at the head, wanting to finish it off.

It looked like everything was going to be over in a matter of seconds. She was meters away from landing a finishing blow, however, a bright flash of light suddenly erupted from below, covering the entire area with its bright glow.

Seeing this, she was on high alert, quickly deflecting her attack and landing a couple meters away from where the Shale had crashed into. Covering her eyes, she was finding it hard to see what was around her, and she was worried that the alien would take this as an opportunity to finish them off before anyone could do anything about it.

'Damn this bright light!' she cursed, trying to force her eyes open, but the intensity carried by the light was strong enough to force her eyes to hurt badly even if she only managed to open them slightly.

'What is that damn alien trying to do?!'

Eventually, the bright light in the area disappeared, leaving a wide area that had been destroyed by days of fighting. Meanwhile, off to the side, a large crater could be seen. The crater that was created when she kicked the alien towards the ground.

Not wasting another second, once she was able to see once again, she ran towards the crater. Looking down, she was enraged to see that there was nothing inside.

There was no alien in sight.

Shocked, she wondered if that bright light must have had something to do with this. Immediately, she went to get in touch with the generals back in the underground meeting room, asking them to do a surveillance search all over the city in the hopes that the Shale wasn't somewhere near the safe area, and if not, she hoped that the creature had truly left the city.

But then again, it would simply just become the problem of another city. Perhaps one that is unable to.handke the threat, similar to the current city she was in.

Albeit reluctant to one her order, the generals eventually decided to go ahead and do a full search across the city, using the technology they had at their disposal, wanting to locate the exact location of the alien.

Although there were still problems with this. For one, humans still had little to no knowledge as to how the Shales's power works. There may be the chance that they are able to go about the city while remaining undetected. If that was the case, then Agent Nero was wondering how much longer it would be till she's able to head back home.

"Are you guys okay?" She asked the soldiers who were still alive after the great battle. At the beginning, when if was reported that a Shale had been spotted in the city, a squad of 200 soldiers had been sent out to deal with the lone threat.

However, after the threat had been handled, barely a handful of them were left alive.
