Chapter 35: Plague Of Death I

"The mysterious Silver?" Anna, Lord Of Blood, questioned with curiosity. The meeting was happening, and it naturally wasn't anywhere near Umbrella's base. It was happening within a degraded building near one of his zombie colonies.

Silver ignored her as he walked closer, naturally wearing his hazmat suit, tracing his eyes about, from Anna to Lord Black.

"State your piece first," Silver turned his attention back to Anna before stating with his steady soothing voice, "Why do you want to see me?"

"..." Anna's expression remained calm as she contemplated her words before saying, "I seek cooperation... I want you to help me deal with Carvel and Bernard. You've already defeated Carvel before, so you won't mind doing it again, right? And we'll naturally divide their territory." 

Silver blinked, looking a tiny bit confused as he sized her up, "What I had in mind was very different when I threw the bait... You would've been acceptable. Unfortunately, someone more interesting is here."

Anna was thoroughly confused, especially as Silver turned his eyes to Lord Black, the latter unable to hold back a smile upon hearing those words, "Thank you for the compliment." Said Lord Black.

"Well deserved," Silver nodded, "The more I see of it, the more impressed I am. Your power just as it gave you a wonderful mind, also threatens your life, but that same power helped you create a solution... Wonderful."

"Just a temporary solution," Lord Black shook his head with a smile, "I'm, however, impressed with your overall progress... So inhuman."

"Oh? You know of my progress?" Silver raised a brow.

"Only by deductions and technology," Lord Black clarified, "Mind you, only some of your organization's progress. Any information about you is impossible to find."

"Time isn't in our favor," Silver murmured, "So our progress naturally has to be fast, else we might survive the Game, but what about what's beyond?"

"..." Lord Black's pale and sickly face couldn't help but twitch. He assumed he'd say something like surviving the second stage, but the man is already thinking of what's beyond the Game. "Right..."

"Quite the manners you have, Lord Silver," Anna's voice suddenly sounded, and she wasn't pleased, left out and forgotten about.

"Oh," Silver blinked as he eyed her, "Excuse my manners. I can not help my curiosity when I see something interesting."

"Right..." Anna felt like she was being made fun of, both men weren't paying her not a sliver of attention, "Care to explain your previous words? Carvel hates you, and Bernard is more dangerous than any of the other Lords. Why the hesitation."

"It's not hesitation, dear," Silver shook his head as he chuckled, "I don't need help. I only need talents. The moment I saw you, I realized that you're a talent who has no interest in serving anyone else, thus we have nothing to talk about."

"Hah?" Anna stayed silent for a second before letting out a sweet giggle, "You thought you could recruit me? Oh, so naive you are."

"Sure," Silver shrugged, "Just know that New York is mine. I'd advise you to leave it as soon as possible."

"That..." Anna's expression turned cold, "Is that a threat I am hearing?"

"It was advice, Lady Anna," Lord Black answered in his stead, "And I'd advise you to take it."

The atmosphere turned cold as Anna eyed the two strangely, "I didn't know the two of you were on such good terms."

"Hmm, maybe we did meet before. Maybe we're here for you. Maybe you aren't supposed to leave this place alive," Silver said with a chuckle as he took a step toward Anna.

Anna's reaction was instant as she jumped back, rivers of blood flowing from the tip of her long crimson nails to surround her as if a protective shield, apprehension apparent on her face.

"Hahahahahahaha."

"Hahah hahaha."

The laughter of the two of Silver and Lord Black reverberated through the place as the former said, "I'm just fucking with you. You can go."

Anna frowned, not believing him one bit, but she still slowly walked back while still eyeing them closely, her eyes reeking of a chill of humiliation as she realized that he was truly just fucking with her.

"I'm not sure why you'd antagonize her to such an extent though," Lord Black noted after she vanished from his sight, "It holds no benefit, no?"

"Drama. I like Dramas," Silver gave quite the unexpected answer.

"Is Doomsday and the Game Of Awakening not enough drama for you?" Lord Black had to wonder.

"I can always have more drama in my life," Silver shook his head, "It increases the variables, thus forcing my mind to think more... Quite lovely."

"Right..." Silver was so much weirder than Black could've ever predicted, but now that they were left alone, it was time for business, "I expected you to not be interested in an alliance, so you must realize what I am here for."

"First Name, and ability," Said Silver.

"Luscious," Luscious certainly understood why Silver requested only his first name. That's actually the reason why he titled himself Lord Black. He realized that using his full real name may be problematic, "Cyber Mind."

"Interesting," Silver hummed. He was already certain that Luscious' ability had something to do with intelligence or deduction, else he wouldn't have been here, seeking to become his subordinate, "Tell me more. Every interesting information you know." 

Silver truly believes that he wants to join him. If one studies his course of action and they happen to have a cyber mind, they'd likely see his danger and the abysmal chance of ever fighting him.

Some abilities have side effects on their holders. Luscious' cyber mind might be one of them as it made him extremely logical, and the logical thing to do is join what he can not hope to defeat and what should be very beneficial to him in the long run.

Yet Silver was still cautious. Trust can be quite misleading, and Silver didn't trust even himself with it, thus there were still a few more steps before Luscious could formally join Umbrella.

"Here, inject yourself with this," Silver said as he handed Luscious a syringe. It was the vaccine with the New Silver Effect.

Luscious narrowed his eyes but didn't hesitate at all in doing as he was told, and only after injecting himself with it did he ask, "What is it?"

"The vaccine for the virus. It should grant you immunity, although likely not permanent as the evolution of the virus can change the circumstances," Silver responded and he was as usual honest as he continued, "It also has a mechanism which I can control to keep a tight handle on things, you know?"

"I understand," Luscious nodded, not surprised at all. He would've honestly been disappointed if Silver didn't have a way of assuring his loyalty as he may not put him in a high position in that case. 

What did surprise him, however, was the fact that Silver already has a cure to the virus, a vaccine which usually takes years to even a decade to produce.

However, in exceptional circumstances, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, accelerated timelines have been pursued by leveraging existing technologies, increased funding, global collaboration, and regulatory flexibility. 

The development of the COVID-19 vaccines, for example, was achieved at an unprecedented pace, with some vaccines receiving emergency use authorization within a year of the virus's identification.

It's that difficult of a process, and Silver certainly doesn't have the support of the entire World. The exceptional circumstance thus applies to him as the development of the vaccine was shortened by the T cells' high multiplication rate and the Silver Effect's limitless energy.

The only positions in the Quintessence that are still empty are the two in Umbrella's Intelligence Network, and Luscious has just taken one of them... Code name Black - Luscious.
