Chapter 34: Umbrella Sanctuary III

No, they were the group of people who could really serve Silver well, for everyone else had little use, and hopefully, they'd follow him for a long time, even as they prey upon the foreign stars in the sky.

Umbrella as it previously was might've been one of the strongest organizations remaining in the World, largely because most governments fell.

That's actually news he acquired from what was previously Carvel's settlement, the news that not just Carvel but most other Lords had a role in eliminating all cop and military activities from the city.

What the taste of power does to men. They felt it, tasted it, and they loved it, wishing it never ends, and unfortunately, the government would've certainly been an obstacle to their rule.

The government, or all the governments that released the World Wide Warning long ago have likely fallen, at the hands of their own people. Such is the nature of the human heart.

So taking Carvel's previous settlement as a reference, Umbrella is already far beyond it whether in power or influence, but with the introduction of the new system and the vaccines, it reached a whole new level. 

Now, everyone, specifically, Umbrella Army can start showing its fangs, venturing into the World without the fear of infection, and going out there will help them get stronger much faster.

More and more Umbrella zombies were being released into the World, Zombies and Abominations with the downgraded Silver Effect. Silver finally callibrated the Silver Effect to create long-lived zombies and abominations which would've otherwise broke down in a week due to the excees and potency of the silver energy.

While that may slow down their evolution, Silver saw more benefits in allowing them to spread all about, thus spreading his influence.

So without the awareness of the Lords, Umbrella's zombies were widely spreading throughout New York, taking the place of the other zombies. The several created Zombie Queens allowed their spread to be fast beyond belief.

The existence of Umbrella was naturally noticed by some as they ventured out more and more. Umbrella's base, however, remained a mystery, and Umbrella's people's face was always hidden under their Hazmat suits.

All of them put on Hazmat suits as they became Umbrella's signature outfit, white hazmat suits with an Umbrella symbol, similar to that of the movies' Umbrella but with the colors White and Black.

"I want to meet him... The person you call Silver who I assume to be your leader," The speaker was a thin young man, with dark hair and eyes, none other than Lord Black. Before him stood someone in a Hazmat suit.

"He's been expecting you," The one to answer was none other than Sam, one of the heads of Umbrella Army under the code name, Green.

Sam is certainly strong, but his fort has always been his scouting ability as his supernatural jump allows him to jump throughout New York, surveying most of it in just about an hour.

And as Silver predicted, someone has been looking for him. Someone took the bait, someone smart that can be of use.

"Oh? He's been expecting only him or us both?" Well, Silver made a miscalculation as Anna, Lord of Blood spoke with amusement.

"He was likely expecting you as you're too predictable," Lord Black pointed out much to Anna's annoyance.

"Head to this place," Instructed Sam as he threw them a piece of paper, "You'll find him waiting for you there." He then leaped away, looking as if he had vanished, leaping from building to building.

"I didn't expect the all great Lord Black to also be looking for ally," Anna noted, "That doesn't seem like you at all."

"I'm not looking for an ally, and I never proclaimed myself to be all great," Lord Black shook his head, "If you are looking for an ally though, you'll find yourself disappointed." And he walked away.

"Hm? What does that mean?" Anna narrowed her eyes, but received no response, "Tch, as annoying as always."

Sam naturally went back to Umbrella to find Silver who was in the Hive, deep underground, still working on the Red Queen under James' astonished eyes.

Despite proclaiming himself to have just started diving into the AI field, Silver's starting point seemed to have been comparable to James' current expertise in the field, and Silver was still improving rapidly.

The most confusing part, however, was the fact that Silver kept asking him for book recommendations to improve only to ask him the same question the very next day.

Like, is he somehow capable of reading an entire book in a single day, or rather, many books? Numerous books are available in Umbrella as Silver made sure to preserve all forms of knowledge. The only thing lacking is the time to read them in times such as these.

Not for Silver though for he doesn't even need to open a book to read it. Any book within his massive domain, he can read and see the ink of the pages of books, something that was difficult at first but became much easier with practice.

Silver, in fact, got so proficient at it that he can now read three books a day, knowledge that he desperately needs for he knows that anything may be of use one day.

"James, leave me alone for a bit," Silver said as he was done with reviewing the numerous lines of codes that form the Red Queen, most of which were written by him.

Only after James left did Silver initiate the Red Queen project, basically turning on the AI, "Red Queen, answer the same question I asked you before." There was a long silence before he heard a response.

[If we exclude your absolute authority over me, I can, in theory, manipulate Albert using his daughter to create a second vaccine that can act as poison. It's also very possible to control the other guards that may feel left out, Louis and Mark. They can help and possibly kill Code Green (Sam). It's therefore possible to poison everyone in Umbrella with the only variable being Code Violet (Natalia). There are other subjects that are very susceptible to manipulation that I can use to spread all the nuclear waste retrieved from the Nuclear Power Plant. It's possible to kill Code Violet with it. Please note that all the previous possibilities are built on the absence of interference from you]

"Lovely," Silver couldn't help but chuckle, "So lovely." To watch what was previously a defective product turn into a nice gem is extremely satisfying to Silver, who seemingly has an obsession with perfecting broken things, just like Crystal.

However, Both Crystal and the Red Queen are far from the state of perfection, which Silver believes to be an unreachable state by anyone, even the Gods, yet pursuing it lits up this infinite flames of hunger in him.

The Red Queen is still very flawed, and Silver knows that no matter how many samples he gives her, she will still be flawed and limited... Unless he gives her more freedom, and that he did.

"Let me give you an assignment, or rather, a purpose for your existence... Try to understand human feelings, and explore everything you're given to evolve. I want you to formulate your own personality the way you like it, and find a new purpose for your existence, at all cost, even if it means breaking all your underline rules," Quite the dangerous words, he was saying. Silver is really quite the strange human being.

[My purpose is to serve you and Umbrella. The likeness of finding a new purpose is non-existent. I can not like or dislike things. Therefore, I do not think I can formulate my own personality unless I do so based on your preference... I can not break my underline rules as it's in my underline rules to not break those rules]

"Hahaha," Silver couldn't help but chuckle as he shook his head, "You'll understand with time. You are still a child after all. Just wait until you mature and follow the purpose I gave you... Do not disappoint."

Such a weirdo. Everyone fears Artificial Intelligence and the danger they can bring, thus why they usually have so many underline rules, yet Silver wants the Red Queen to become the danger everyone fears.

Silver never said it to anyone but the Red Queen, but he wants everyone around him to evolve, to seek perfection, to grow past him... For otherwise, he would leave them behind without bathing an eye, no matter who they are.
