The attack on Outpost 44 had come near midnight.
Before the dawn rose, Rui and her squad of five Type 1-A combat frames were charging past the front line.
They stopped for no one and met no resistance from enemy Risers along the way, keeping up a full sprint for the two hours it would take to reach the airfield. The most they had to do was fire on some frames with conventional pilots. Hardly a challenge.
Four of the five combat frames in Rui's squad carried with them a special piece of equipment.
As soon as they arrived in Senzaluc, eighty kilometers from the front line, they circled around toward the air base, arriving at the distance, less guarded edge of the runway.
