Mallory the unfortunate child born from a human among a tribe of leopard demihumans was bullied and shunned since young due to her being slightly weaker, being a bearer of bad luck and because she was an easy target. Even when she kept trying to overcome her trials and difficulties, she still ended up in a poor situation and that is when her previous life’s memories returned along with a skill which had been awakened. How will she survive in the Danmachi world? I do not claim to own Danmachi, its plot or characters but there are some changes I may make to the original story and add my own characters. The news surrounding the Resheph Familia being involved in the most recent event was something that few were aware of yet.
The main people that knew were Mallory, Oars, Goddess Seshat and the current City Lord of Visa City.
It was good to know that such a group still existed and posed a significant threat but it was a problem that the source of the issue could not be resolved too easily.
God Resheph had suffered defeat at the hands of the Freya Familia which meant that he would have had time since then to learn from his past mistakes.
He would not expose himself so easily and only those from his Familia would know of his current location or meeting place used to update their status.
So long as the Resheph Familia crest was kept hidden from others, it was very difficult for anyone related to them to be identified and found.
Alerting the public would only cause panic to spread with no effective way to calm down the unrest caused within the city.
Those who knew about it had met again to discuss some ways to handle the matter and it was decided that the only way to prepare for hidden threats was to better control the flow of people entering the city.
Those with official business from other cities would need official documentation to prove the reason for their visit.
It would be the same for any traders coming or going.
Any adventurers active in the city would only have one location to actively register for paying jobs unless they were the types to not register as an adventurer and only took on tasks that were not handed out by any places affiliated with the city of Adventurers Guild.
All Seshat Familia members were exempt from any kind of inspections but anyone else that was an adventurer or mercenary of some kind needed to be cleared of suspicion.
There were always chances of there being some people lying low somewhere close by awaiting their opportunity.
If a task was given out and anyone could be assigned to them without proper knowledge of their affiliation or a clear way to clear away their suspicion then there was always a major risk of sabotage.
It was not just a risk of someone taking the task being intent of taking others lives or causing other problems, there was a risk of others working with outsiders despite seeming like they posed no threat at all.
Certain measures needed to be put in place to protect the interests of the city but also those within it like the ordinary people or adventurers that were essential towards carrying out tasks others could not.
There were still many risks involved with giving out tasks to adventurers and mercenaries that were from Visa City or outside who were unaffiliated with the Seshat Familia.
Some would be willing to betray the city and their fellow adventurers for some immediate benefits while others would have no loyalty to the city to make them consider taking action against those around them.
In order to provide the least bit of security for everyone involved, each person taking on a task needed to flash their back for a moment if they were unaffiliated with a Familia as they were registered as.
If they refused to do that much then they could not take the task and would be a target of suspicion which would be reported to the right place.
It would not solve the potential issue with traitors appearing among those taking tasks together but it did help to better identify if there were any others within the city who were posing as ordinary adventurers even though they were a part of a Familia not affiliated with the city.
What was even more dangerous was that someone who was known to be without a Familia could suddenly show up one day with a status yet nobody would be able to realise it.
A status was something many adventurers craved in order to grow stronger more quickly yet it was not available to everyone.
If given the opportunity to join a Familia at the cost of committing something bad then there would still be many who would be tempted.
Such measures would prove to be very effective in the future but the initial response did not work out all that well from the adventurers who were unaffiliated with a Familia.
Their livelihoods depended on such tasks so it would be affected greatly if the important tasks were given higher priority to others who were from the Seshat Familia or were from more trustworthy Familia or affiliations.
Meanwhile within the blacksmithing area, heat and smoke was coming off the furnace that was being made use of.
Another part of the room had an arrangement of talismans laid out along with a large engraved stone tablet lying flat on the ground.
It looked similar to what had been carved in the room of Mallory while having the engravings carved slightly deeper allowing for the magic stone dust to be evenly spread across each part that had been engraved.
A small item was placed in the middle that was surrounded by light once the talismans activated causing the light to follow along the engravings and further lit up the magic stone dust.
Mallory was sat with her legs crossed watching it take place until it was completely finished.
She then turned to Almura lifting the small object towards her. "Now it is your turn."
Almura took it from her hands before throwing it into the melted metal which came from the previous weapons that had been smelted down to a liquid state.
Mallory had been helping out by purifying the metals and other ingredients being used before they were added then provided some extra purification during more essential parts of the forging progress.
Mallory provided the necessary skills to help with purifying and engraving while Almura did the rest to allow them to both complement each other well.
Their combined skills were something that could create far greater weapons beyond what could ever be created using their own individual skills.
Hammering noises followed shortly after the finished metal formed which was then shaped and further refined.
Once all of the heat, smoke and steam had begun to clear, Almura wiped the sweat away from her forehead holding up the main part of the weapon that had been finished followed by another which was much smaller.
A large blade had been formed that took the curved shape of a fang while the smaller part had been slightly straighter with a little pointed tip.
The final touches were being made as Mallory had finished carving out the engravings on the polearm staff which was then attached by Almura.
The main top of the polearm had a large and deadly blade on top while a small pointed end was on the other side making both ends quite deadly to anyone that was hit by them.
