When they arrived back at the mansion, Avery got out of the car and headed straight to her room without a word. Lucas watched her retreating figure and sighed, shaking off his thoughts before heading inside.
After stepping out of the shower with his hair still dripping wet, his phone rang. He checked the caller ID, and his face darkened with disgust. He answered to see what his cheap father wanted to say.
"Lucas, create a position for your brother in the company. He's finished with his studies and will be returning to City A. Do this little favor for your father," The man said in a matter-of-fact tone expecting Lucas's agreement.
"Mr Brandon, are you done? I have two things to say. First, my stepbrother won't be given a position in my mother's company- the same company you and your new wife nearly killed me for. And last, don't ever get the delusion that you can ask anything from me or use your Alpha tone." Without waiting for a response, Lucas hung up.
