Chapter 1The Inheritance

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Several explosions took place in a few seconds shaking the whole surrounding causing chaos as the people fled in all directions in both despair and fear. This included some students from the Spiritual Academy, numerous vendors, and many passers-by who would typically go by this place almost at any time of the day.

Despite this being the capital of the Brown Kingdom, the City of Setting Sun, this was one of the main avenues, but still, some kind of attack was happening right here.

The reason, one could find it as the crowd dispersed; five cultivators from the Spiritual King stage were engaged in a fierce battle as four of them attacked the fifth having a clear intention to kill.

This lone individual was none other than one of the Brown Kingdom's illustrious general, Albert Stuart.

However, no matter how talented he might be, fighting against four opponents from the same stage was not easy for the 130-year-old general who was already at level 51, and had a bright future ahead of him.

And surely, the general was increasingly at a disadvantage as they exchanged moves.

"You should have never had the absurd thoughts of getting a medium-level spiritual region as a reward from the kingdom, Albert, Hahaha, as if a newly created noble family like yours could achieve such a feat."

Not long ago, the kingdom was relocating its sovereignty over a region that was particularly rich in spiritual energy, by the standards of this region, and of course, since the former sovereign family in that region had left the Brown Kingdom, this made several other noble houses crave such a left out place.

And finally, due to his meritorious service, Albert Stuart was given that region.

He had high expectations of increasing his family's strength in a wealthy place like such.

However, this proved to be a resource that his small noble power could not keep long for themselves.

Another guy then added with a wide smile on his face. "Be happy that we'll not touch your son when you die, hahaha, and yet we'll give him the lands of the Black Plain as your inheritance!"

The region of the Black Plain was an impoverished place and sterile with a spiritual density which was considerably low in the entire Brown Kingdom.

"Bastard, don't think that I'm going to die without taking any of you with me." Not willing to go down without a fight Albert Stuart spat as he concentrated all of his spiritual energy present in his body into a sphere of black energy.

Simultaneously, his vitality as a Spiritual King, which was enough to provide him with a life expectancy of approximately 1,600 years, was also being sucked at an incredible rate, transforming him instantly from a young adult to an older man with almost both feet in the grave.

"Damn, this demented fellow is going to sacrifice himself. Retreat!!!"

"BOOOOOOOM!"

At that very moment, a big explosion occurred in that place, destroying everything along the way that came in its vicinity of a radius of dozens of meters, causing the three men to stagger out. And at the same time, the fourth was thrown away into a half-dead state.

There were also several objects flying from the place and reaching the surroundings.

...

Meanwhile, a child with adorable features, brown hair, standing at a height of 1.3 meters, dressed in a green uniform, and carrying a backpack on his back was shocked by the events surrounding him when a stone more than a meter wide approached him.

"AHH!!!"

Unfortunately, he could not escape in time before being struck.

That was Minos Stuart, 9-years-old, the son of the general who had just sacrificed himself.

After his final day of school, the little guy was on his way to meet his father in front of the Spiritual Academy before starting his journey into the cultivation world.

Anyway, after that, he then lost consciousness.

It did not take long for the situation to calm down and soon enough, several guards had also arrived to control the situation and assist the attack victims.

"Eh, isn't that General Stuart's brat?" one of the guards who was helping in the rescue asked in a low voice.

"Hmm, and it appears that his situation is grave. It's better to take him straight to General Stuart's mansion. Butler Dillian is well versed in spiritual healing. If even he can not help this boy, then we wouldn't be of any help either. Take him fast," another guard said, while helping an elder man by the side of unconscious Minos.

While Minos was rescued, a hoarse voice suddenly spoke inside his mind. 'Boy, your situation isn't the best...

Tsk!

Although, despite everything, you also received a chance that many would only dream of having.'

Hearing the strange voice in his mind, the child Minos was obviously a bit afraid as he then began to speak in a fearful voice. 'Who…who are you? Where are you?'

'Don't be so scared. Despite being on the verge of death, this is the good part. My name is Henricus Longus, as for where I am, hehe, kid, I am in your mind.'

Hearing the name, the boy asked in disbelief. 'Hen... Henricus Longus, the first God of our world?'

'Hmm, it looks like my name hasn't been completely forgotten, but I wasn't the first God, just the first human to reach this level.'

Soon after, the boy remembered something crucial. 'What did you say? You are inside my mind…? What do you mean?'

The old voice then answered. 'That's right, you are receiving my inheritance, so this fragment of my soul can communicate directly with your mind. As to why this is happening, it is because you have met the requirements for receiving the inheritance.

But don't you get too full of yourself. It just happened due to your location and the fact that your near-death state has changed your physique. And due to some reasons, I can't just wait for a suitable heir to come to me, so that's why I could only come to you.'

Minos then questioned, 'Has my physique changed?'

'That's right. You should know that there are five grades of  Physique: Common, Warrior, King, Saint, and Divine. Originally, you had the King-grade physique, but due to the accident, it was changed to a mutant Common-grade. The catch is, your current physique can continuously evolve and reach into the Divine-grade. This must have happened because you had a Physique with a somewhat unusual ability. After the incident, an anomaly was created in your body, causing this rare phenomenon.

As for the geographic factor, in my time this region was very rich in spiritual energy. Which was one reason why I created my Spatial Kingdom close to this place. But I didn't expect that the surrounding energy would become so thin after only a few million years... During my days, this place could create Spiritual Sages, but now... even a Spiritual Emperor could be barely created in this region.

This only ended up making it difficult for me to find a suitable heir; since to receive my inheritance, the individual needs to have a Divine-grade Physique. And as people are not born with such a Physique, finding one like that in a place like this was almost impossible, and no one talented enough would stay here...'

Meanwhile, the 9-year-old Minos listened carefully to the words of this historical figure, so the old voice continued. 'Boy, my inheritance will give you tremendous potential since your talent will be even higher than the Golden Talent. However, you must make a promise.'

The talent in this world was classified into five ranks, which were White, Blue, Black, Silver, and Golden.

It is said that talent was equal to understanding, which was one of the two requirements to advance through the stages of cultivation. The other was the accumulation of spiritual energy.

With talent, someone could make progress without reaching bottlenecks to a particular stage of cultivation, depending on what classification his talent was. For Golden Talent, for example, the first bottleneck a person finds is at the level of a Spiritual Demigod. And for this, there was a probability of greater than 50% that the individual with such a talent would reach this level.

'About what?' Minos asked curiously. Then he heard the voice continue, 'While I was still alive, I possessed an innate divination ability and as a result, I once had a prophetic dream about a distant future in which this world would face a significant external threat.

Few know this, but the truth is that we aren't alone in the universe, and we are lucky that we have never been found by others before. But don't be so scared, their cultivation is also like ours, it's limited to level 100. However, their strength lies in their number. For example, while we think a lot when we have 3 or 4 Gods simultaneously, these forces even have 10 or 15 of them.

So, after my dream, I started creating my inheritance since I couldn't solve the problem in my days, as there wasn't enough spiritual energy in the environment.

Don't misunderstand. The problem is that this energy is spread throughout the world, and we cannot absorb even 30% of the total. This is also a biological limitation. However, there are still spiritual plants and medicines that can do this, and it is through these resources that we reach level 100.

You may not know it, but when you reach level 100, cultivators can double the space and create spatial regions using their power, which we call Spatial Kingdoms. And these kingdoms can absorb the energy of heaven and earth and concentrate on the inside, thus creating true cultivation sanctuaries.

To build this place, I spent the last 1,000 years of my life doubling the space five times and building a domain capable of storing an enormous amount of energy for a few million years.

Anyway, a few decades ago, the kingdom finally matured completely. So, this is the main part of my inheritance. You must use this space to improve the average level of cultivation on this planet. As for how to do this, after digesting the information that you will also receive, I believe that you'll have a good sense of how to accomplish this as well.

This is all boy, don't let me down, or this whole world might be enslaved. Finally, I believe that you may end up being unconscious for a few years as a result of your current state and also my inheritance. But this will not be a significant disadvantage.'

Minos responded sincerely. 'I will do my best not to waste this chance.'

The old voice then said goodbye. 'Good luck. I hope you succeed.'

And while Minos was talking to Henricus Longus, outside his mind, his body was continuously being healed by the efforts of butler Dillian.

However, there seemed to be no sign of the young Stuart waking up.

And so with Minos in this state, six years passed in the blink of an eye.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.

Hello there, here is the author. It's become a tradition to do self-reviews here on this site, so I won't be the one to break it... In this little review, I want to talk about the 5 points you can find when making your own review. But before that, I want to say that originally the novel will be divided into volumes, which should reach the mark of 8-10 volumes at the end. Anyway, let's get down to business. Writing quality: English is not my first language, so there will certainly be some mistakes, but I will endeavor to improve this whenever possible. Therefore, I thank you in advance for any correction indicated. Update stability: Although I have my own activities, which can prevent me from writing daily, but I have an abundance of chapters ready. So, I can guarantee that, at least in the coming months, there will be at least one chapter being released each day. As for a higher release rate or extra chapters, this will depend on the votes received by the novel. Story development: There are major and minor plots in the story that will be developed little by little. The speed of progression can be quite varied, in some points it will be a little slower and in others it will be faster. This depends on the importance of each part to the overall story. Character design: For certain reasons, the protagonist will be very intelligent from the beginning of the story. But he is still a person who needs help and who has room for improvement. There will also be some problems so that the character has a certain space to mature, so you can expect some changes to happen... World background: You can expect a lot of information from this world that the MC is in. Whenever I'm writing, I try to make it clear in the text what situation the protagonist is in. Where is he? What is the difference in strength for your opponents? What's outside the protagonist's realm? How is the world where he is? Races... Etc. Anyway, there is certainly a lot of space to be explored. Well, I think that's it. This is my first time writing, so I'm still learning... Anyway, I hope the story is satisfactory!

Before thinking whether to read the novel or not just read the first chapter on author thought. The storyline and plot is surprisingly detailed and the author managed to write a story where the world doesn't revolve around MC but it's not a multiple POV type story. (Good for me) All major encounters with other characters are logical and they don't just pop out of nowhere just because the plot demands it...they are always given a little background which makes them alive and believable.... except MC's mother side of family. but I guess that will be revealed later. Side characters appear and leave logically and not because of random plot. The story has 2-3 cliche parts but the execution and results are very different from the normal...(*spoiler- there is tournaments and mc finding rare spirit beast and a young master goes after the MC for he talked to his supposed wife/girl...but in a totally different way*) Otherwise this story is kingdom building in a poor abandoned land...mc has his OP inheritance but doesn't use hack techniques to improve his land but simply expensive very scarce resources which any normal lord will spend only on himself. In short the kingdom building is realistic too, compared to other novels where mc is either reincarnation from future or from earth... Another thing in novel you will find interesting is the cultivation system and the structure of cultivation world in general. the difference between different states of cultivation is not insurmountable and those in the same stages is even more so... atleast in the starting and mid stages...this makes it interesting as just having higher cultivation doesn't mean sure victory..it comes down to how good their techniques are and thier teamwork.... This is refreshing after reading so many one man army MCs... The world-building in general is great the noble families, the commoners they act differently than the stereotype established in other novels...like nobles are oppressive and common men are miserable and only the mc saves them and they will grateful to eternity. well that's it ..I ranted a lot .... author keep up the good work, I generally don't start reading new novels unless they have 300+ chapters coz this site has given me many heartbreaks but I changed my mind after reading your first chapter so don't you dare disappoint me by dropping it.

In my opinion one of the best novels I've read on this site so far. Writing quality: apart from some very rare and minor mistakes, the writing is great, especially considering English is not the author's first language Story updates: very regular updates, generally with 2 chapters per day, but as a greedy reader it can never be enough :) Story development:I find the story in general is very well planned out and with a good progression. Main character, while stronger than others at the same level, is not instantly OP. Kingdom building is also very nicely done in a believable way. Something I'm very happy about is also that the characters don't have 1000 skills which make everything really confusing like in other novels, making fight scenes much more engaging. The main reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the somewhat slow pace more apparent during one ark of the story (Between chapters 200-400 if I remember correctly), manly due to "information dumps" placed often in the middle of conversations (need to say though that much of this information becomes relevant afterwards so it is indeed needed, and the story still remained very interesting). Fortunately after that the pace starts picking up and is very enjoyable afterwards, not too slow but also not chaotic. Character design: characters are well designed and they act according to their personalities. There is also interesting character growth for some characters. World background: also nicely done, with distinct regional powers and interactions between them. Looking forward to how the Black Plains start interacting with the rest of the world. As for other novels I would be very happy if a there was a map available. In general I highly recommend this novel.

Overall, this novel is decent but there are a few issues. First is, the author explains too much. There's too much explanation about some new building and how it works. Some are unnecessary and some can be said as it is. Second, the fact that the MC dealt with no issues with the citizens apart from the fact that they're too weak is unrealistic. People get jobs and suddenly, they're happy and no problems occurred afterwards. In every place, there are always problematic people. Drunkards for example. There were even no mention of thievery in Dry City, as if everyone just turned obedient conveniently for the MC. Even if every single one of them got jobs, some habits, while they can be dealt with, they don't die easily. Mass migration from people of different places should have introduced some problems but for some reason, they were obedient. Also, the fact that people from other places could successfully migrate to the Black Plain without leaving any traces is also quite unrealistic. If it's the soldiers, then there would be no issues but civilians are hard to control, especially when they weren't yours or when the cultures are different. There is also the lack of skepticism. Although the author tried to explain this part, the fact that the whole population of a city just disappears and migrates to the Black Plain is quite unrealistic. No one stayed behind, especially the old people, who are (not all) supposed to be the most stubborn and difficult to persuade. I'm still currently on chap 371 so the author might have already addressed these on the not so recent chapters but even if he still hasn't, I hope the author reads this for improvement. Overall, this novel is, as I said, decent and full of potential.

Hello, I do not have vast experience in writing novels, but I do know that every opinion and review is valuable. Therefore, I would take this chance and express my thoughts about this story. First, there are no significant grammatical errors in the story. There may be some in each chapter, but it does not hinder understanding the flow of events. As for the development of the story, I think that while it's great and well thought out, there are chapters that are 'somewhat' insignificant to the story that I think can be described in shorter words. This is also related to another issue regarding this novel. I don't think I have the qualifications to advise a writer since I have no experience regarding that. But, as a reader, I think that the author likes to give too much detail in describing things in the story. For example, the author will explain the logic behind something that still has no significant role in the current phase of the story. I think that instead of going into too much detail as something was introduced, it would have been better to just give some overview regarding it until it becomes significant to the story so that you can describe these efficiently and timely. Why am I giving such a fuss regarding it? It's because I think highly of the story and it drives me mad to see the story progress, but it irks me that some chapters that aren't too far from being cheap fillers are present. It's good to present the story of side characters, but going into so much depth that causes the story to somewhat lose its luster is not very good. As for the character design. In my opinion, the author did very well in describing and giving color to the characters. Each of them has their personality and identity, causing their interactions with each other very lifelike. As for the updating stability, I have no issue or opinion regarding that. Lastly, for the world background, the author did excellently. The author did not give too much nor too little information, instead providing just enough description about the world and its power structure. Overall, I think that the story is good and is worth a while. The only problem is still the use of too much info in describing certain things and the chapters that resemble cheap fillers.
