Resurrected

Leo looked at the screen his face turning paler than a ghost. He quickly scrambled to his feet summoning his sword. He looked left and right not seeing anything he tried walking out of the cave but was blocked by a white light. A new screen appeared in front of him.

[You may not leave your first dungeon]

[The Gods are watching your performance to evaluate you]

Leo banged against the wall of white light to no avail. As he was trying to escape he heard a crunch from behind him as a small 3-foot-tall goblin approached snapping a half-decayed bone on the floor.

Leo watched in horror as the goblin approached him. He held his sword in his unsteady hands. The goblin had an awful smug smile on its face as it approached faster getting ready to attack Leo. The goblin held a small dagger and as it was only a few feet away the goblin leaped into the air putting both hands on the dagger while striking down at Leo.

Leo quickly swung his katana at the goblin cutting into the creature's arms. Blood splattered out covering Leo's horrified face. The goblin started to crawl away frantically after receiving a deep slash on its arm. Letting out pained screams as it crawled.

Seeing the goblin getting away Leo ran after it. Once above the helpless goblin slashed at its neck. After Leo finished the clean cut a window appeared in front of him.

Once Leo saw the final screen saying he leveled a slight glow appeared on the gem of the sword. Checking on his weapon through his system everything was the same except its durability.

Looking at his system still a new tab appeared at the top named stats focusing on this a new screen appeared showing more information.

Leo looked at all this information and after a few seconds of thinking decided to put two of his points into strength and the last one into agility. Once he made up his mind a white beam fell on him. A feeling of warmth swept off Leo as he felt his body become stronger and more agile.

Leo walked back to the wall of white striking at it with his katana hoping to break the wall with his new power but to no avail. giving up on escape Leo kept going into the dungeon and descending into the cave. As he descended more goblins got in Leo's way though now with his power he dealt with them all with a little bit of struggle getting a few cuts here and there.

As he killed more goblins more screens appeared.

After his fourth goblin, he stopped earning experience but was slowly gaining more confidence. A feeling of hope ran through his body as he thought if he could defeat the dungeon the gods might bless him and he would be able to go back and save his town and mother. 

However, fate had a much crueler plan for him as he reached a large set of wooden double doors. Leo took a deep breath and looked at his katana through all the fights he had to do to get here slight chips in the edge of the blade could be seen.

checking its durability Leo saw it was at 8/11 he then let out a deep sigh. He then grabbed the handle of the door prepared to fight whatever was behind it to get back home and then he could de-summon his weapon to let it heal.

Once he had opened the door almost all of Leo's new confidence faded as instead of the small goblin he was used to there stood a massive 7-foot goblin with a lean muscular figure. As it saw Leo it cracked its knuckles. in the next second it vanished from Leo's sight slamming into his ribs and shattering them.

Leo flew through the air like a kite that had its string cut until his back slammed against the wall of the dungeon cracking the wall and breaking his spine in the process. Leo's vision was blurry as he puked out a mouth full of blood mixed with a few shards of bone.

though before Leo could pass out the Goblin was already in front of him picking him up by his head. The goblin brought Leo to eye level before taking his other hand and landing another devastating blow to Leo's chest.

Leo's vision had gone black he saw nothing until a white screen appeared in front of him.

[You are dying]

[The gods are evaluating your performance and deciding to bless you or not]

Leo would have gained hope from this but all of his blood was already leaving his head as he read the screens not allowing him to process the information well.

[The gods have deemed you too weak and unworthy to be blessed.]

Leo read this as his conscience finally started to slip away embracing death until a new screen appeared this one however was red in color.

[You have been rejected by the gods but another entity has also watched and is willing to give you the power to live]

Leo's conscience had almost fully dissipated at this point only the new screen holding together all that was left. Leo couldn't process anything but the thought of a chance to live after thinking about living the screen changed.

as all these messages appeared Leo's conscience was still teetering between life and death. though a black swirl enveloped Leo's mangled body on the ground putting it into some form of a cacoon.

Leo's eyes flashed open as a new message appeared.
