Chapter 32
“Do you want me to turn the car around?”
“No, no,” Skylar says with a chuckle. “I’ll call Frank when we get home.”
Thankfully the light turns green then and Skylar angles his body forward again, his attention no longer on Quinn. He doesn’t notice the beaming smile spreading across Quinn’s face or that his body is filling with a pleasant warmth at Skylar’s words.
Home. Skylar called the apartment home.

Skylar takes the news of the trial just as Quinn expected him to.
“What? But I didn’t…did I press charges?”
“No, but it doesn’t matter. The police issued the charges. You don’t have any authority to drop them.”
“Oh,” Skylar says, distracted. Quinn tries to keep the worry off his face. Would Skylar have dropped the charges? Would he have let Bryan get off without so much as a warning if it had been left up to him? He had nearly been killed by the man! How could he think so little of himself?
“What’s wrong?” Skylar asks, his voice laced with concern.
