Chapter 4
"So, you seriously can't detect or pick up anything form this damn sword? Not a spark, a fluctuation or anything?" Jace couldn't help but ask Vail.
"Negative. I am unable to detect any abnormalities apart from its composition. There have been no fluctuations or any further reactions of Note since its activation and perceived bonding to your person." Vail replies.
"My sensors though have picked up unusual neural activity though that is often recorded in those suffering from large amounts of stress. Would you like me to attempt to synthesize and administer a sedative?" Vail continued getting a annoyed growl from Jace.
"No chance in hell, I have no idea what you would put in it or what effect it would have on me." Jace snaps back.
"Acknowledged. Please be advised though that this unit is unable to bring harm to the host. It has been designed, programmed, and created with the sole purpose of ensuring the continued existence of the world through the elimination of the coming threat." Vail responds.
"Typical useless piece of scrap, I will admit it seems to have some uses, after all to be able to receive a shot of painkiller after a severe injury in battle would help greatly to keep a person fighting. A pity its so restrained though and limited. But accessing its records has proven to be rather informative" The blade seemed to say, speaking up for the first time since having left the village.
"You hacked into Vail? Is that why you where so quiet till now? That's actually rather worrying, if you can do that what's stopping you from just taking over Vail, assimilating me and running wild! Jeez, I am seriously going to need to rid myself of you." Jace complained, hints of fear visible in his tone as he began to try and think of ways of disposing of the blade.
"Host. Once more who are you talking with? Your heart rate has increased. Maybe now you would prefer I administer a sedative? Furthermore, please note I have no breaches in my security protocols. All firewalls are still running at max efficiency. No intrusions have been made or found." Vails synthetic voice replied.
"Of course it wouldn't detect me, I am far more advanced and at a level it could never hope to reach." The sword said sounding rather smug and clearly puffing itself up like a peacock.
"Well then mister amazing blade why don't you introduce yourself to Vail or link or something, I don't know, whatever it is you machines do to communicate. It would definitely make it so Vail will stop trying to sedate me every chance it gets, hell I'm worried it will try to lobotomize me next thinking I have something wrong with my brain." Jace couldn't help but counter in absolute annoyance.
"Note. A lobotomy would result in more harm than good for the host. At most I would administer a cocktail of various drugs. In a extreme case forceful administration of nanobots to be sent towards your brain to alter neural pathways." Vail Chimed in.
"See? This is what I'm bloody talking about! So do your magic machine mumbo jumbo and link to Vail and show I am not crazy or insane or anything! Else I will try to have a smithy melt you down or even just abandon you first chance I get!" Jace almost screams in anger.
"Fine fine, I'll make a simple contact link to the piece of scrap, but I want you to know a few things first. 1, I am unable to harm you because somehow your blood and soul where compatible with me and I am now bound to you, making you, my owner. 2, even if you try to get rid of me, I will come right back one way or another and be really upset and angry with you and will do my utmost to annoy you till I receive an apology! 3, I do in fact have a name, I just can't seem to recall it right now since it's been a long time since it was used but call me Crimson not sword! And lastly 4, I wish for you to use me to spill blood, massacre all enemies in your path, the more blood I can drink the stronger we will be, that I can promise you." The now named Crimson said, doing its best to sound proud and domineering.
"Well that's bloody annoying, but fine 'Crimson' you still owe me answers like what the hell you are, where you came from, what the hell the whole designation thing is and also out of curiosity if I wasn't compatible what would have happened?" Jace began to question, drawing out he word Crimson with sarcasm.
"Note. Rejection would have resulted in no reaction from the sword./I would have flooded your system, shattered your soul and caused you to pop like a blood filled balloon meeting a demented clown with a pin." Vail and Crimson both tried to say at the exact same time giving Jace shivers down his spine.
