The Elder Witch

I sat down with my mother and looked at Elder to said hello but stopped by seeing the look at her face. Her mouth was gaping like a fish, opening and closing. I poked my mother in ribs which I know is rude but I was trying hard not to laugh at Elder. My mother said, "What?" So I signal towards Elder with my eyes. Because she was still glaring at me for my rudeness, she looked at Elder and asked, "What happened Elder?"

I whispered to my mother, "I think you broke her."

"Ahmm Madam Elder?...." I said.

She broke out of her stupor and patted on chair at her side, "Come here child."

I stood and walked to her side and said, "Hello, I'm Evelyn Margaret Hunt. How do you do?"

"I'm fine. Good, so when did you turn 18? You know every witch is registered at 18 by the council and Your mother didn't registered you with the council." She said while giving my mother a disapproving look.

"My mother didn't registered me because I'm not 18 yet. There is still two weeks left. It's just I'm an early bloomer and awoken my power before 18." Said and gave the Elder a cheeky smile.

Oh no she is back to the earlier expression again. I'm worried she might get heart attack and get her death pinned on me and her stare was getting on my nerves. I ignored her and told my mother about my plans with Jake and Paige. After telling her that I left for the kitchen to get my breakfast. I sat in kitchen eating but my whole concentration was on the conversation happening in the sitting area.

"Two weeks, two weeks earlier Anna and you didn't think that it's important enough to inform the council?" She was screeching like a banshee. By her looks I never thought she can make that high pitch noises. I'm impressed she can become an opera singer.

"She got her powers just yesterday, and it was a hectic day. I was going to tell council today but you guys beat me to it."

"You have the time to teach her spells, but not enough to inform council? That's hard to believe."

"I was trying to test her powers before I informed the council. As you know that she is half witch and half human. So it was not guaranteed that she is going to be a powerful witch despite getting her powers early." What the hell, this is the first time my mother had talked about my father. But why does she sound so bitter?

"Even so, why did you taught her healing spells that's waste if her talent. The amount of magic she released yesterday she can become a very powerful combat witch. Send her to the council to be taught and trained. We will take complete responsibility of her education." I paled at her order. If my mother agreed then I wouldn't be able to do anything or make any difference.

"No, she isn't going anywhere, I'm going to teach her myself. Even though she has large amount of magic, we don't even know the colour of her essence. Anyway she wants to become a doctor, so I'm sure she will decide to become a healer. I won't force my daughter to do anything that she doesn't want to. So End of discussion."

Holly Molly, my mother is lying she clearly saw the essence colour of my magic. After a few seconds I heard front door being shut, and my mother entered the kitchen.
