3. Chosen

The ancient beast landed a hundred feet away from Alan, its mountain sized body of over fifty meters stood in all its glory. Dark green scales almost reflecting Alan's image seemed to be pulsing in sync with the beasts heart beat. It's two massive eyes looked at Alan which made him feel exposed, like a criminal whose crimes were laid bare. Alan was barely standing by now, as the aura from this beast was pressing down on him like a mountain. {This is not the same beast that I saw in my memories, this one is breathing golden breaths}. As Alan surmised this the beast spoke telepathically to him,

"so you've seen my kind before?". Alan nodded in response as he was barely able to open his mouth.

"interesting.. you don't look like you're twenty yet you've seen my kind. We roamed the world once, thousands of years ago, and after a great calamity, we vowed to never show ourselves again to the world. But that was thousands of years ago when we made that vow, so how could you have seen us" Even though it sounded like a question, it was more of statement that the beast was reflecting on to try and remember if he or his kind had shown themselves to the world at any point in time after their vow. Alan could only respond to the best of his knowledge.

"Your Excellency, truth is I inherited some memories of a battle long ago and that is where I saw your kind. You look similar to him bit he was breathing green unlike you", was all Alan could muster.

"Ewin??!!! you saw Ewin??!! that wretched monster!" roared the the beast, "wait if you saw him, then you must have...you must be..." the beasts eyes widened in shock as a realization hit him like a wave. "it can't be?..... Is it really?!... you are....you have "his" power???!!!...", the beast was dumbstruck. Shaking his head, the beast lowered its head while spreading its massive wings, "Master my name is Lincoln, i have been waiting for you". Now it was Alan's turn to be confused. His face twitched as he faced the massive beast. The beast raised its head as it spoke, "for thousands of years, I have waited in this place for you to return to reclaim what is yours, now that you're here, I can leave knowing I have fulfilled my purpose." Without saying anything more, Lincoln raised its head towards the sky and gave a great roar which shook the very ground where him and Alan stood. As he roared, he shot a flame towards the sky that kept going further and deeper into the sky, which in turn turned they sky dark red. Once he stopped spewing flames into the sky, the sky responded by rumbling with thunder and streaks of lightning started flashing. As this was going on, Lincoln looked to wards Alan and smiled, " I am the last of my kind, we live for thousands if years unless we're killed. My great ancestor had the honor of being with you at your peak and was also there to witness your promise that you would come back one day to reclaim what was lost. The secret bond that you shared with him back then has been passed down our bloodline so that we may meet again and thus serve you. However, my time has come, as I am only meant to meet you, someone else will be with you". As soon as he said this, the lightning from the sky shot down and struck Lincoln again and again till he started burning up. Red lightning streaked over his body till it started to slowly disintegrate. With a bow, his body disappeared completely leaving an egg the size of a house. All this time, Alan didn't say anything and just stood there. He didn't understand a lot of things, or anything for that matter, however he connected the dots from his memories to what Lincoln had just said.
